One more sleep to go. Car reached the dealer yesterday afternoon and I'm collecting it after work tomorrow. This makes me happy in my pants.
  2. How long does it take to get from port to U.K. Port? As mine is waiting to be shipped.

By chance I was talking to my dealer today and, apparently, there is a strict 15 day SLA from the date it arrives in the port until its put on a ship. Mine was built on the 18th September, arrived at Emden on the 21st so must be put on a boat tomorrow or it will breach the SLA.

However, I have no idea what the repercussions are for an SLA breach so it might not be a big-deal for them.

  4. I bought a Nan Jia generic vent mount at the weekend and it does the job. For £7.99 I'm not expecting longevity.

Having recommended them I now can't find any reference to them on Google so it must be an, ahem, "boutique" brand. Definitely available in the phone accessory shop in the shopping arcade in Windsor.

  5. Many thanks for the comprehensive and detailed instructions. I've ordered my 1.4 TSI and am awaiting delvery so will be delighted to follow these instructions.

Also it's great to see someone prepared to sit and write such a lengthy update in this day and age of tweets and text speech. My grammar-fascist wasn't triggered once. (I'm also a grammar-hypocrite so there's no point flagging any of my mistakes, I'll just blame my phone). ;-)

  6. Hi, when I decided that I fancied a Superb 3 I started hunting down reviews on Youtube.

    Some things I noticed:

Most reviewers were given L&Ks (not surprising I suppose).

I was pleasantly surprised by 2 german reviews that were done in English. Autogefuhl spent a lot of time looking at the styling of the car and Ausfahrt was a a good reviewer with an amusing touch of self-deprecation.

Bob Flavin is an Irish reviewer that I have a lot of time for and he loves his Skodas.

I was surprised at the number of Indian reviewers but I guess that reflects the economic growth in India.

However, the one thing that every reviewer had in common was praise for the Superb 3. Yes, individual elements of the car suffered in comparison to brand X or Y but overall the Superb came in for huge plaudits.

I'd link to some of the mentioned videos but I'm using my phone and I'm technically illiterate.

  7. Re not letting the engine run on dregs I was always told not to as there was a risk of picking up some of the crud at the bottom of the tank. I also remember being told that the fuel pump relied on being immersed in the fuel for lubrication, if it ran too low the pump might be damaged. That info might be model specific though and I can 't recall which car I was driving at the time.

  8. Ok, this information is a couple of days old so could be completely out of date. The configurator was forcing me to select electrics and ventilation if I selected beige anything or Alcantara. Black leather seemed fine. My dealer (Skoda not heroin) called their supplier person and was told that any Alcantara could be ordered but there was a supply issue with beige leather and only ventilated seats were available.

So don't trust the configurator but I think you knew that anyway.

I also saw a seat option labelled Test on the configurator which suggests a change might be imminent but also that they test on their live environment which seems unprofessional.

  9. Folks, just some info on the options available when specing a Superb SEL. Currently beige leather seats are only available with ventilation due to a manufacturing issue. This will have cost implications if you spec it. Black leather and Alcantara seem to be fine. The configurator is all messed up at the moment and is forcing all orders to have electric seats and ventilation. Speak to your dealership to get the best advice. This info was confirmed by my dealer today at lunchtime.

  10. Took delivery yesterday of a 2014 registered Superb diesel 4x4 Elegance estate. The sales executive at West End Garage, Jamie MacLennan, fulfilled all promises made at the original point of sale a couple of weeks earlier, and I can not fault his attitude or professionalism in any way. I would not hesitate to purchase another Skoda through him.

I've just ordered my Superb from Jamie and he has bent over backwards to look after me. OK, I don't have the car yet so it could still go horribly wrong but I can only sing his praises at the moment.

  11. Hi,

I've been browsing the site for the past few days picking up some tips and hints. I've already amassed more helpful info than I'll ever be able to repay so thanks to all the knowledgeable contributors who have shared their experience on here.

I've recently ordered a Superb 1.4 TSI ACT Hatch, SE L Exec, Magnetic Brown, Beige Alcantara with some odds and sods added and now I'm just twiddling my thumbs waiting for delivery. Based on the information shared on the forum I'm already looking at my options list and wondering if I should tweak it. It appears that by not ordering Traffic Sign Recognition I've shot myself in the foot as the VCDS app could feasibly add a bunch of new features. I've also kept the standard Zenith wheels but now I'm looking at Modus or Pegasus ( but then I see threads that suggest Pegasus wheels might knock-back delivery dates). I also think the Brown/Beige oozes class but then some b*ggers on here post pics of their Petrol Blue/Beige machines and they look fantastic. I've still got time to tweak so I'll hold off and make sure of my choices.

Currently, apart from the Mag Brown/Beige, I've ordered:

Park Assist (I can't park for toffee)

Rear Camera (I really mean it, I can't park)

    Rear Wiper

    Waste Bin

    Spare Wheel

    Mats

LED Pack (which should get 10 colours now if I've read right)

Kessy (Req'd for the LED pack)

Elec Front Seats (Req'd for Alcantara because reasons)(Interestingly, the Aug configurator update tells me that I would now need to add ventilation to get Alcantara so it becomes a heckuva' expensive upgrade)

Looking forward, TSR seems a no-brainer now and the colour Maxi-Dot doesn't seem to add any functionality but it does add some class ( or so the forums tell me ). Heated washer nozzles and windscreen would be nice but then, where do you draw the line? Decisions, decisions.

    Cheers for now.
