  1. Hi all, A friend of mine has a MK2 FL MY11 Octavia estate, and his Columbus radio, one day, just changed language to German. But he doesn't speak German, and we are in England. Anyway, he can select English in the menu on the radio, but alas, there is no English available on the radio. All the other languages appear to load fine, just not English. Everything in his dash display is in English Local garage can't help, as they say it needs a disk which is apparently very expensive, and don't have it. Obviously, he doesn't want to spend a lot of money to sort it out, so I was wondering if any of you TECH people could help with a solution, Please. Hope someone can help him. He is in Clacton on Sea, Essex. Thanks All.
  2. My local Skoda Garage, ( Hayes, In Little Clacton, Essex ) , Supplied and fitted my new switch with AUTO on it, I have a " MY12 Skoda Octavia Elegance without maxidot or Multifunction steering wheel, but with all the sensors," and installed the wire from pin 2 on switch and pin 20 on the BCM, and followed the above information, and I now have Auto lights, with CH/LH as well. Yet to try the rain closing windows, but I have a funny feeling they would work, but I don't usually leave windows open on my car, even in the summer. So Many thanks to " isthamus " for the info. By the way. Leaving the car for 10 mins wasn't needed, just removal of the key for about a minute was all that was needed in my case.
  3. I have started doing my MY12 Octavia Elegance GSG7. I have posted some pictures. So far, DRL's with resistors, Fog/Turning lights with resistor packs. Side lights on front and small w4w lights on back do not need resistors. Door lights and Puddle lights again, don't need resistors, but if you scan with VCDS you will see a fault thrown up, but nothing on the dashboard. All interior lights have been changed to LED as well, including the boot lights. Looks so much whiter and brighter inside the car and in the boot. Just straight forward swap for equivalent sized LED. Number plate lights are LED, with warning turned off in VCDS or you can buy Canbus friendly ones now. Reversing lights are done with resistors. NOTE:- all of the resistors are temporary untill I am able to go and see langers2k who has offered me help, to have the BCM coded with some Professional kit he has, to stop all warnings. Stop/Tail and Side/Fog lights will have to be fitted with resistors temporarily. Indicators will go to LED within the next couple of weeks, however, if I get "HYPERFLASH" or anything silly, then I fear that resistors may be the only way, unless I can find bulbs with built in ballast. Please look at my album to get an idea of how it looks so far. Some pix below.
  4. Wow. Thanks for the offer of help. I will see what happens later today, and give you a yell and let you know what happens. A little trip up to Norfolk sounds like a good one anyway, so I will see what I can arrange with you possibly for next week or not long after or so. Could you possibly Private Message me your location in Norfolk please, just so I can work out rough traveling times needed from Clacton on sea. Ta. ;-)
  5. Hi there,....... Can you remember how in VCDS you told the BCM to expect LED's please. I am just about to put LED Stop/Tail and Indicators in, and I fear that I will get the warning light, but I have the VCDS system, just don't know where to look. I have been lucky so far. All Interior bulbs changed with no problems. DRL's changed with no problems. Front fogs have resistor packs to smooth out the cornering system as well, and stop the flicker. I managed, (purely by luck) how to find the number plate light LED light warning in VCDS, and check it. But I'm flummoxed when it comes to the items mentioned. Thanks in advance if you can help please.
  6. Thanks a MILLLLLLLION for these pictures. I just had mine explode on removal, and I had NO idea how to put it back together. I was resigned to buying a new one until I came across your pictures. I did work out that the trick is to get the spring onto the black arm first, then tension it and put it onto the body, then put the lens back on making sure that the copper contacts go into their correct places in the lens. Works a treat now. Saved me ££££££££'s. Another big plus to being a member of this forum.
  7. Hi there. Thanks for the response. Is there any chance you could guide me in the right direction for the Bluetooth Kit you mentioned. It sounds like it would do all I need. It would be great if you could recommend something, and advise me as to whether its a D.I.Y. install, or something I would have to get someone to do for me. Also, if you could point me in the right direction for buying it, that would be a great help. If this is a D.I.Y. install that only needs a bit of coding, then I should be able to do the coding, as I am awaiting delivery of the full LEGAL version of VCDS with the RossTech compliant lead, so I think i might be able to play around a bit and learn something usefull. Hopefully, I will also be able to also help any local Skoda'ites when I have it. ( I don't know if there are many in My little town of Clacton on Sea, on the East Coast. ). There are a hell of a lot of Skoda's around since the Ford garage closed. If I were to go down the Amundsen+ route, and it had DAB+, would a suitable aerial splitter be okay for it. Like this one:- DABONWHEELS . Or would I have to go Full whack and get a new aerial that does GPS,DAB+, and AM/FM. My Brain is really starting to swirl now as I really am not sure which is the best way to go. I would love to also change my steering wheel to a multi function one as well, but I think that would start getting expensive, especially as I want to lookinto the possibility and feesability of changing my dash for a multi dot one. I think some of this is for other parts of the forum Thanks in advance.
  8. Hiya Folks, Please advise me. I have a 2012 Octavia 1.8 TSi DSG MK2 FL Elegance, (Manufactured on 21st June 2012), with a Bolero radio 6CD unit installed with no Bluetooth. I would like to replace it with a Bolero WITH Bluetooth, possibly a used unit from Ebay or the like. Or is it possible that mine has bluetooth but has n The 2nd hand ones I have seen advertised, show the 4 options along the top of the screen, one of which shows "BT" unlike mine that only has 3 boxes. I know some of you would suggest one of the lovely aftermarket, all singing all dancing head units, but " She who must be obeyed " said I'm not allowed to, and for fear of Death, or worse, much to my sorrow, I must take this route. ( I'm a very young 61 yr old who loves modern Tech. ). Now, I know I would have to buy a microphone, unless it's already there,(I haven't checked yet), pref the correct one that fits in the light unit above my head, but will a straight head unit swap work. ? I do not have steering wheel controls or a maxidod display, and I want to keep the car looking standard, hence the like for like swap. I don't mind going up a model in stereos, as long as it is a Skoda one that looks like it came with the car. I don't like the option that is offered by my skoda dealer with a little screen on the dash. Obviously, I want to keep all of the functionality that I get now, such as reversing display, AUX input, (Socket under armrest), Climate control display, etc..... Below are pictures of the VIN plate and the radio software screen etc if it helps at all. But if there is any other info you need in able to assist me, please ask. I can extract codes from the ECU, as I have a CARISTA OBD2 Dongle and APP. If there are any you need. Thanks to all. Regards from Keith in Clacton on Sea, Essex.
  9. I have been told by my dealer, that if on variable, as I am on, then these figures will vary according to type of driving and driving conditions. If on fixed, then these figures will just count down. i hope my memory hasn't failed me and that I am correct in this info for you.
