I'll have a look at the cabin filter tomorrow and dry it out if it's damp. No I don't open the windows. Where is any moisture the system takes from the car go? Could the drain be blocked?
-
Thanks for all the replies. It's around 2 degrees C probably. Previously I just hit the screen demist button and the system would do its thing and clear the screen pretty quickly. Now it doesn't properly clear the screen or side windows even after a 12 mile run when the engine is up to temperature.

2013 Superb not demisting. I had the refrigerant topped up recently. Any suggestions as to what to check or how to find error codes?

4x4 rear propshaft coupling / damper

Anyone? -
Has anyone on here replaced a rear propshaft coupling damper on a 4x4 Octavia, Superb or Yeti? I'm thinking of doing it myself but wondered if I'd have to drop out the whole propshaft assembly in which case I'll maybe leave it to the dealer.

Hatch open warning light
scottalej2 replied to scottalej2's topic in Skoda Rapid & Spaceback (2012 > )
Thanks for the reply, thought I was all alone here. No switches on this one but 3 wires coming out of boot latch on tailgate so I'm guessing there's a micro switch hiding in there somewhere. -
2014 spaceback hatch open warning light on but hatch secure. Is there an obvious switch somewhere which might be sticking? Or, due to the wonders of canbus, could it be something else completely unrelated?

Has anyone takled a timing belt change on the 1.6 cr tdi engine? I have changed many timing belts over the years but does this engine require specialist tools?
-
2014 1.6td Spaceback continues to wear out the inner edges of the front tyres despite two independent wheel alignment checks. The only angle a little out of spec is front caster at a little over 4 degrees on both sides but as this is non adjustable, unless I try to find adjustable strut tops, there's nothing I can do about this. Has anyone else had a similar problem?

Under the skuttle panel under the bonnet on the passenger side. Fits into small metal bracket.

I have a similar car and found the poor brake issue to be due to sticky sliders and corroded / dirty calliper to brake pad contact. I changed out all my discs and pads recently and discovered this issue which had resulted in the inside pads wearing much quicker than the outer. I cleaned up all contact areas making sure the pads could slide easily on the calipers. I also cleaned up the sliders and coated with red rubber grease. The brakes are now very sharp and bite near the top of the pedal travel. I intend to clean up the calipers every couple of years to ensure that they don't stick again.

Had a chat with my helpful dealer about what else to check but couldn't find any burnt out connectors or shorted wires so took it to the dealer. The problem was a burnt out 'air quality sensor'. It had a hole burnt in it and explains why the smoke came in through the vents. Apparently this (CANBus?) circuit also contains the oil level sensor and reversing lights which was why my parking sensors weren't working! Too complicated these modern cars. £76 for a new sensor and apparently all it does is trigger the recirculating air in the car if it detects bad air. I think I can live without it especially since it likes to go on fire. £50 poorer but everything working again.
