  1. Thanks for your reply. The engine details are Type: 5E, Variant AACKFCX0, Version: NFM6FM62Q025STVL7. The engine code is CKFC. I have driven about 40 miles after the garage has done the above work. I haven't seen any error light coming on yet. I need to connect a scanner to the car. What are the problems that can happen if a non-sensor glow plug is used instead of the sensor glow plug? Does both types have same fitting? If the battery is not coded properly, could you give some errors that commonly occur? I can see my radio stations, phones etc are still saved in the system.
  2. Last day the EML came on and when I scanned using an obd2 reader, the error was P0673. The car was also complaining about low battery (it is about 6 years old) for few months. So I got a new battery and took to the local garage. They said there is a chance one of the glow plug will have a pressure sensor and if so it will be more expensive to replace. I asked to replace the pressure sensor one only if it is causing the issue otherwise replace the normal ones anyway, After working on the car (replaced battery, and there was another error P2102 when they scanned), the garage said there were no glow plugs with pressure sensor and glow plug cylinder 3 was malfunctioning. They renewed glow plugs in cylinder 1,3 and 4. They couldn't take out the Cylinder 2 glow plug as it went tight when trying to undo it and they fitted it back. The car is an Octavia III 2.0 TDI 110 kw. I saw this post where glow plug with pressure sensor is discussed. Does anyone know if this model would not have the glow plug with no pressure sensor? Any help will be much appreciated. Thanks.
  3. Kwikfit was doing 2 continental premium contact 6 (205/55v16) for £143 fitted (mobile) last week. Not sure if the voucher is still valid but worth a look if you haven't replaced the tyres yet.
  4. Thanks. I did think about it as the bars were not "sitting flush". The bars had markings (like FL,RL, FR,RR) on them which I followed. I will check with the sellers (roofbox) if this is how it should be fitted.
  5. Would someone be able to look at the screenshot below and tell me if the roof bar (Atera AR5288) is fitted correctly. I found 2 holes/mount points for the 4 sides (FL,FR, RL,RR) and used the inner mount points for each side but not sure which ones should be used (or does it depend on the length of carrier that goes on it?). TIA.
  6. Thanks. I think I will wait for the next occurrence as one of the dealer guy said it maybe an airlock if it only happened once. I will keep an eye on the brake fluid level if it starts to go down. Am I right in thinking that it is the same fluid for both brake and clutch or is there a clutch fluid reservoir hidden somewhere?
  7. Last week the clutch on mine (2.0 tdi, 54000 miles) didn't come up fully and I had to pull it up a little (this was soon after I started driving the car in the morning). Was there any similar symptom before the leak/failure? My brake fluid seems to be at the max level. I have done about 150 miles after that but the problem hasn't occurred yet.
  8. I didnt see this issue yet, but as the car is now almost 5 years and is at 50k miles, I replaced the timing belt and water pump yesterday. It only needed an oil change service but the guy at the service center said it may be good idea to replace the timing belt also (maybe because I asked him to check the state of it as part of the free visual inspection). £650 for oil change + 4 wheel alignment + timing belt + water pump + fixing the rear windscreen washer. I hope I get around 100k before I need to worry about new timing belt/water pump.
  9. Is this "Skoda" extended warranty and if so is it all component cover? If it is all component cover, I would expect the part to be covered.
  10. Hi, Yes, the shocks arrived within a week (ordered Friday and items arrived next Thursday). They have a verification step if it is the first order and I called them to go through this to make the order quicker. The items I ordered were below (as recommended by the website for 2015 2.0 TDI ) but the top strut mounting were not the right ones. I am still not able to find the right part number for this part but I think it could be 803 024. The garage (not the dealer) also got it wrong but now they have ordered from TPS at a much higher price. I hope it fits when they try tomorrow.
  11. Just use the text from the above link as the link doesnt seem to be working.
  12. Not sure if this will be useful, but the shocks seems bit cheaper here, https://www.buycarparts.co.uk/skoda/octavia-5e3/58761/10221/shock-absorber (I have ordered front ones (sachs) with top mounts - mine is 150 - the order says it is dispatched).
  13. Hello, need some help (again) regarding which shock absorber will fit 2.0 TDI manual. I have found the below links but not sure if I should go for 50 or 55 mm housing diameter. Also it seems the first website is considerably cheaper than the other 2. https://www.buycarparts.co.uk/skoda/octavia-5e3/58761/10221/shock-absorber?criteria[100]=VA https://www.eurocarparts.com/ecp/c/Skoda_Octavia_2.0_2015/p/car-parts/suspension/suspension-and-steering/shock-absorber/?635443220&1&bf439d6db05162585fcf312e64f0001f9f505a80&000925 https://www.carparts4less.co.uk/cp4l/c/Skoda_Octavia_2.0_2015/p/car-parts/suspension/suspension-and-steering/shock-absorber/?635443220&1&bf439d6db05162585fcf312e64f0001f9f505a80&000925 Should I buy any other things in addition to the shock absorber, like top mount? Also, does anyone know if the shock absorber replacement is a task that can be done by a competent mobile mechanic or should I have to take it to a dealer? Thanks
  14. Thanks. The dealers cleaned it as part of the major service a week ago. So it might not be the things I have been reading about like broken drive shaft cover or anything like that which is good.
