  1. Thanks but it's probably just six months since I bought it. I only had the problem twice so it's not fair to say it had the problem wjmhen I bought it. But hey, thanks for looking out for me! My brother in law should be servicing it next weekend, if he has time.
  2. I think so. He also has a friend who is a VAG specialist so I'll see if he can run it by him.👍
  3. Well I've only had it 5 months but the service light has just come on. I have arranged for it to be serviced in a couple of weeks by my brother in law, who is a mechanic. Do you think it needs the gearbox servicing? Incidentally it just did it again tonight when leaving the house. Went from D into R and was revving like in neutral. Killed the power and restarted and it was fine.
  4. Today on the way back from the shops my DSG stuck in gear. I think it was third but there was no D3 showing on the multifunction display. It was like having it in tiptronic mode (and possibly it was by accident) so I pulled over as soon as I could. Turned the ignition off and on again and it was fine. Gave me a bit of a fright. It's a 59 reg, so 9 years old and long out of warranty. 109k miles and due a service.
  5. Ha ha, I like that, Robin. A classy cruiser! I'll keep it that way.
  6. What does everyone think to these VRS Grill stripes? I haven't actually done it, these are photoshopped, but I saw a kit of vinlyl tapes on eBay for £6 and thought I might add them to brighten up the old girl (or old grill!). I'm about 70:30 in favour of doing it at the moment. I don't think I'll get a VRS badge.
  7. Hello all, I'm back, and very happy to be back too. Back in 2017 I bought a 54 reg Mk I Superb 1.9TDI and was very happy with it. It had seen some action and had a few faults (some, such as the water ingress, I fixed). Then in January 2018 it was sadly written off following an accident Since then I have been through a couple of private cars and a company car, but now having changed jobs again I decided to treat myself to a Superb MK2. I picked it up on Wednesday and I'm very pleased with it. It's the 2.0 CR TDI 170 version. DSG. 2009 with 99,900 miles currently. I haven't found anything wrong with it and will be happy for it to stay that way.
  8. Hey, I might be back again next week. Going to see a Superb MK2 tomorrow. It looks great. I'm going to see what to look out for now...
  9. The brakes and rear light cluster are for sale in the classifieds section. A real bargain if you have a Superb I.
  10. It's a manual , 2.4 D5, 2007, MK 2. It has a few problems to sort out such as a new battery and a tyre, both being sorted in the morning; but I like a project. ...... Update: three months later the water pump seized, the cam belt shredded and the engine was destroyed. Along with the contents of the radiator the best part of £2500 went flowing down the drain. ☹️ Sad smiley.
  11. Hi All. I went to look at a Superb II estate thinking it would be lovely. 5 years old, 100k miles and it looked like it had never had a sevice. I saw an Octavia estate, also in poor condition but next to it was (sorry about this) a Volvo V70 and I fell in love. So it really is goodbye. Volvoforums.org.uk is not a patch on Briskoda. Not mobile friendly for a start but I'm prepared to take a gamble. I have some old brake parts which I will list in here I think. Didn't get round to fitting them...
  12. After an enjoyable 18 months membership of Briskoda and an even more enjoyable ownership of my 2004 Superb I 1.9 TDI Comfort (Stanislav), I have to say goodbye. Last weekend I was involved in an accident and unfortunately Stanislav was written off. The insurance paid me a fair amount but I doubt it will be hard find such a good car with the money. I would like say thanks to everyone who contributed to my posts and whose excellent material I used to improve the car, particularly the authors of the water ingress solution which I followed to the letter. I'm hoping to get another Superb. If I'm very lucky I might be getting a Superb II I have seen advertised locally, then I will be back with a Hello message!
  13. I used the Granville kit. It came with various abrasives and polishing solutions. Finally you give it a wipe with a cloth coated in a UV protective solution but unfortunately it didn't work and they clouded up again. I also read you can spray clear cote paint on them to give a permanent UV protection. Might give that a try in the Sumner!
  14. I have the same problem on my Superb 1 1.9TDI. I have given the catch a good clean and even disconnected the microswitch at a connector and shorted the two poles for at least a minute but to no avail. Does it have to be reset by VCDS? I wouldn't have thought so.
  15. I've fitted them and they seem fine. The wheels / tyres fit the arches fine, driving seems the same (although one wheel needs balancing). The main thing is that the tyres and the rims are in much better condition and I can just tell they're going to hold their pressure better. I've put the old wheels (3U0601025A) and tyres on eBay. If anyone wants them, have a look, just search by 202026712589. If you mention Briskoda I'll knock a bit off
