2014 Skoda Fabia Mk2 1.6 TDI 105BHP 135,000 miles, time to call it quits?
We have had our 2014 Skoda Fabia Mk2 diesel (1.6 105bhp) since it was 3 years old and have had 100k of relatively trouble free driving in that time (now at 135k overall) but with an injector failure last year and another one occurring now (we got the warning light and for now it has gone away) is it time to trade it in for something else whilst it still has a little bit of life and value left in it? It past its MOT last week and has a perfect history (apart from a tyre issue) on it's record and drives nicely, often returning high 60s MPG as we only use it for longer trips. However it now needs a further £400 spent on it and with possible further injector failures as well as potential for EGR valve issues, DPF clogging, flywheel issues and cooling issues is it time to just get ahead of these issues? The timing belt was replaced last year too but I don't want that to influence my decision too much. What do you think, time to pass it on and get a nice easy non turbo petrol from the mid 2010s for less hassle or are we just better off driving it until it dies of something bigger?

Would you replace the injector ahead of failure or wait and see?
I just wanted to post an update on this. We risked it and it failed. We got a good distance before the injector failed again and we had to be rescued. All in, we left at 10am and returned to the same spot at 1am on the back of a truck. Not great but perhaps a warning to others.

Would you replace the injector ahead of failure or wait and see?
Hello everyone We have a 2014 Skoda Fabia 105 TDI with 130,000m on the clock. On a recent trip back from France driving along at about 70mph we suddenly lost power with juddering and the ignition coil flashing. We pulled over, waited a bit and restarted the engine and all was well. We then continued on our way without problem for another 200-250km. The car had been overdue for its major service (variable intervals) and so the oil was 12,000m old by this time. We have since had it serviced by a local garage but not one we usually know and trust (he had too long a waiting time). No reason to suspect this garage is dodgy and seemed legitimate. We drove the car yesterday for a relatively long drive on motorway and it felt great but with a longer trip planned we are worried it will fail then instead, something we're keen to avoid. We have a booking in with our usual trusted mechanic in mid August which I am currently thinking might be the time to get this looked at for a second opinion but wondering if we're being foolish waiting until then? Wanting to see what you fine folks would do in this situation? Would you just see how it goes and risk a breakdown or would you take it to the (local but not usual) garage to have the injector changed on the basis of this test result and our previous incident? Thanks for your time, looking forward to see what you think?

Recommendation for Android Auto headunit to replace my standard unit in my Mk2 Fabia SE?
I would like to upgrade the existing CD player unit in my beloved 2014 mk2 Skoda Fabia TDI SE 105CR and am struggling to find the prefect solution. I have seen recommendations to use an RCD300, RNS315 or 510 but these posts are from quite some time ago and so I wondered if anything had changed? I essentially want an easy to install unit that gives me Android Auto so I can use maps on the screen and play music through my phone. The sound quality on the standard unit is utterly terrible through the aux cable so any improvement on that would also be welcome. For reference my unit is the same one as pictured here (although I do not have an vRS).

Thanks for this. I did buy it online but got it from a reputable seller and not just eBay or Amazon, as tempting as those are.

Driver's side headlight change in TDI. Any hints/techniques that will mean it takes much less time?
Thanks for your reply. I tried for about an hour and just knew it was going nowhere. I took it to Halfords later than I would have liked (7.30pm) and a really nice chap managed to get his very dexterous fingers in there and change it in about 5 minutes. I would say to anyone thinking of changing the driver's side bulb, don't do it, just take it to the nimble fingered people at Halfords. Very impressed.

Driver's side headlight change in TDI. Any hints/techniques that will mean it takes much less time?
Ok so i was an idiot and was changing the full beam bulbs over and over probably out of some feeling of it being a total nightmare to change them on the driver's side. I have switched the passenger side no problem as there is plenty of space but the driver's side is a total nightmare. The fuel pump is in the way and there is so little room to get your hand in. I have heard of taking off the wheel or loosening the fuel pump so before i try either I wanted to make sure there wasn't any other way or any knack that I could employ? I am tempted to just get the person at Halfords to struggle with it but I am not confident that he/she will be able to manage it? Any experience from anyone who has done this either? Have an MOT tomorrow so need to get it sorted asap!

Headlights not working! 2014 Fabia Mk2 105 TDI SE
Thanks so much for this. Turns out I was just being a total numpty and changing the full beams every time rather than the dipped. I don't know why I didn't realise sooner but in my defence I had just driven seven hours so perhaps the lesson here is not to do these things when tired!

Headlights not working! 2014 Fabia Mk2 105 TDI SE
Thanks to you both. I feel like a total dip switch myself but it turns out I was changing the wrong bulbs and not the dipped beams. This is obviously very stupid and embarrassing but at least it is now fixed. Tell you what though, that bulb on the right is really obstructed by the fuel pump and I do not know if I am going to manage the change myself!

Headlights not working! 2014 Fabia Mk2 105 TDI SE
We are talking about the bulbs that illuminate with the green dip telltale yes. The green telltale does work but the lights do not. They work in side light mode and full beam but not dipped. Yes it does.

Sorry should have said it is the H7 projector bulbs used for the main headlights.

Help me locate where this fuse should go? 2014 TDI 105 SE
I stupidly took out a 15 fuse from this box in the fuse box to swap with the headlight ones in 57/58 just to check they work (didn't have any 15s to hand). Stupidly I cannot recall where I got the 15a from though so can someone spot a missing fuse from this picture please?

Headlights not working! 2014 Fabia Mk2 105 TDI SE
Hello Last night both headlights stopped working. I changed the bulbs (twice) and tried the fuse too but to no avail. All the other lights work but the dipped main headlights are not working. Does anyone know what I can try please as I have an MOT on Thursday!

1.6TDI N75 Weirdness
Just found this thread and it is exactly what is going on with mine! Where did you buy the replacement from as I am finding it hard to locate anything that isn't on Ebay or Amazon and not sure I can trust those!

Need a new N75 Pressure Control Valve (1K0906627B) but not sure where to buy from?
Would it be better to buy what I know to be a genuine second hand one?

Need a new N75 Pressure Control Valve (1K0906627B) but not sure where to buy from?
Hello My 2014 Fabia Mk2 105 TDI has been making this strange clicking noise for ages and so when I found this thread on this forum from two years ago it was a bingo moment! Now I'd like to change it but when I google the part number you get a whole range from just £14 on ebay right through to £101 on Skoda shop. I don't want to skimp but at the same time the part looks exactly the same whereever a buy it. Can anyone recommend somewhere they get their parts from please? Would you buy a part from Ebay or Amazon?

Strange clicking sound coming from engine bay
We have a much loved 2014 Skoda Fabia 1.6 TDI (105) which has been a rock of reliability in the time we have owned it (since 2017). Recently though it has started to make a weird ticking sort of noise which appears to be coming from the nearside close to the top and above the battery (see video). This started about 2 months ago and has gradually got a little worse. I don't think I notice any other effects except perhaps a slight dip in fuel economy although even that is hard to tell as we have been forced to do a few more short journeys of late when in the past we would only do weekend long jaunts of 50-80 miles and getting 70mpg. Anyway, what do you think and should we get this checked out? PXL_20241103_142718551.TS (2).mp4

Squeaky front shocks, should I be worried?
Cheers to you all for your responses. Going to give 'my man' at the garage a call now and see if he can't take a look. Thanks again to you all.

Squeaky front shocks, should I be worried?
I have a 2014 Skoda Fabia Mk2 1.6 TDI (105) with 106k on the clock. The shocks are original but have recently started making quite noticeable squeaking noises when going over bumps (particularly speed bumps). This is a very noticeable noise and is definitely worse after the car has been sitting for a while and gets better after a bit of use. It is that classic knackered bed spring sound only louder. It only appears to be coming from the front. So my question is how likely are these to fail and subsequently how urgent is it that I get them replaced or seen to? Should I be expecting to have to change them by now or is this just an annoying but harmless problem? I am making a longer run to the Alps in a couple of weeks and would hate for them to break on that trip so can anyone give me a steer as to whether it is worth getting them checked out? Thanks in advance.

Should I replace these rear tyres?
Cheers for your response. Ok that settles it I am going to replace them, no sense in risking it with a bigger trip in mind. It isn't just my frugalness that prevents me but also just the guilt of another pair of tyres langushing somewhere whilst being 'recycled'. Yeah he is a good guy and loves his VW group cars. Not the cheapest I am sure but he gives solid advice and will never over sell me on anything. Anyway, thanks to you both.

Should I replace these rear tyres?
Cheers for your input. Yes he's a good bloke and generally trust him but just wondered what others thought. It's odd as they are only just over two years old and were previously on the front but were switched to the back last summer. It looks like undue wear but I think leaving them for two sets of 3 weeks without moving in the English winter probably hastened the rot. Anyway, cheers I think it's sensible to change.

Should I replace these rear tyres?
I took my car into the garage for a service last November and my mechanic (solid chap) said I should look to replace the rear tyres in the spring. Well now it is spring and with a long trip (1500 miles) coming up I wonder if I should replace these? The tread is gfine as you can see but the slight cracking or dry rot is a little concerning and probably what he based this decision on. I believe these tyres have seen 30k miles on them so not a bad shift but reluctant to change them if they don't need it. Interested to know what you guys would do? They are Bridgestone Turanza T005 on a Skoda Fabia 1.6 105 with 91k on the clock.

Skoda Fabia Mk 2 1.6 105 TDI 90k oil consumption normal?
Hello, Our 14 plate (Mar 14) Fabia diesel (105bhp) has about 91k miles on the clock and appears to be consuming a bit of oil. I noticed this when I checked just before the MOT end of Feb and noticed it was right on the low borderline. It had previoulsy had an oil change in November at about 85k miles and is now on 91k. I topped it up for the MOT which it passed but I think it has gone down slightly in the 500 or so miles since. What would be a reasonable amount of oil usage for a car of this age and mileage and what would be an unreasonable amount? I accept some oil consumption but want to know if something more serious is going on. As an aside we use this car mainly for long drives on motorways and A roads and rarely around town on small, cold journeys. Thanks for your input.

Longest/largest roof box possible on Fabia Mk2 Hatchback?
Thanks both, I was worried it might get a little bendy or squirly at higher speeds but provided the boot opens (and bonnet but that would be a giant box!) I am reassured. Thanks, still happy tohear any further contributions to make me feel less anxious.
