  1. I will do that but never changed one if I’m honest... is it easy to do? How would I check the voltage at the pump terminals? Remove the plug and hook it up to a multi-meter or? 1) I don’t have a multimeter at hand but can get one and couple times the fuel gauge didn’t pick up what was in the fuel tank and would show empty and beep at me asking to ‘refuel’ even though I had half tank at least. 2) what do you exactly mean with the relay latching? Connected at the base (under drivers dash or?) or something else? How would I check that? thanks
  2. Was driving the car on evening (23/11/17), it cut out once. Tried to turn it over and it would crank but not fire and tried few times until successful. Drove it and was fine, it then cut out about 4 times on the way home. A minute max between each cut out. Parked it up and left for couple hours then ran fine and managed to get it home at 11pm ish. Diagnostics codes; P0230, Fuel Pump Primary Circuit. This code came up about 2 months ago when left in cold for a week in Edinburgh as was on holiday in Sweden. 16614/P0230 - Fuel Pump Primary Circuit: Malfunction Possible Causes Wiring and/or connections to/from fuel pump(relay) shorted/open Fuel pump damaged Control Module damaged The following day (10ish AM) it ran fine for a good hour as I was driving it steady and pushed hard for a while, no issues. Later on it did cut out and wouldn’t start again when I tried to go shopping in the evening. I followed according to the diagnostics, changed fuel filter just for good measure, was fine for a day, next day it happened again, I changed relay and was fine then it happened again today after couple hours driving. Today I changed the fuel pump (couldn’t justify paying £200 from dealers, bought a used but working one), it took a bit to prime and it did ran, then cut out again. Upon turning the key to on, you can hear the whirr and sometimes a swoosh, but that’s it. I removed the pipes from the fuel filter in the engine bay and no fuel was coming through into the open. I managed to get it running with pedalling the accelerator and if I kept the accelerator down, it would run fine, the minute I let go, it cut out and same issue again, won’t fire but will crank till it drains battery. Few times when I did try to turn over but not firing, it was hooked up to another cars battery with jump leads as it was losing battery power from so much cranking. It feels like the pump is not sending the fuel to the engine (fuel starvation), as a final check, I removed the black and blue hose from the fuel pump and turned the car over, it wasn’t even chucking any fuel out from the pump in the tank. I am completely lost for words and don’t know what to do. I have checked each thread which mentions the fuel pump or fuel system in the slightest and has been no help. Does anyone have any ideas/suggestions. If it is a faulty wiring, what would the most likely culprit be? Any help would be very much appreciated, pictures would be extra helpful with your solutions. Thank you for reading this and your inputs
  3. Hi mate! Do you know if the bolero head unit would fit the mk1 vrs? Thanks
  4. Doesn't seem that expensive but would rather avoid the big bills and expenses. £250 for la our? I've been quoted £160 for labour if I change gearbox or clutch as its both pretty much same steps of removing and fixing/replacing etc. Was the clutch on the way out as well or? I will definitely get it done and sorted asap. Thank you
  5. I will search a DIY for bleeding clutch and try it, thank you. Is there other methods of diagnosing it?
  6. Ouch! How much are they quoting you for the new gearbox? Are the gearboxes on these fabia's known to go or is it a case of just a bad pick? My mechanic said to change the clutch kit and if gearbox goes, then you can keep new clutch or change both together. Same £££ charge for labour, how bad can a gearbox failure affect engine? Cheers
  7. Hi fellow Skodians I need massive help, as I am literally on verge of needing anger management classes lol. I have bought a Fabia Mk1 vRS on 25th/08/16. It has been fine until about week and half ago, there are some issues and I've spoken to local garages and mechanics and I would like your opinions on things as fellow Skoda owners. Car Spec; EGR Delete, Stage one remap (166BHP, 400nm - which is 290ish lb/ft?-), rest pretty much standard, I think the exhaust has been decatted as well but exhaust looks standard. When the car is cold, changing gears is fine, when it reaches its temperature, the car will stick in 1st or reverse, as if the clutch does not want to let go, sometimes I have to switch engine off and on to release from reverse, reverse sometimes makes whiny noise when realising clutch quckly, 1st gear I have to force it out to neutral or drive on it then change into 2nd. I sometimes get slippage when changing gear as in revs go up but no speed increase. Sometimes I put my foot down and it pulls crazy without problems. Sometimes at traffic light when in 1st, clutch is pressed fully down and it creeps forward, won't release back into neutral. Now when changing gears, if you let clutch out slowly it makes a grinding buzzing noise, between 1,000 to 2,000 RPMs. If I am in second or 3rd, after gear change, the noise will persist unless I increase the RPMs which then if it falls back down to 1-2k RPMs, it won't make the noise. Most of the garages are saying a new clutch is needed etc. Previous owner works for Skoda and said the clutch has been converted into a SMF in April '16, he even gave me the old DMF kit. One garage said the gearbox has been tampered with when he changed my CV Joint and Boot. Researching these symptoms and I'm finding people saying to do the shim mod on the gearbox, however, I have no clue as how to do it or where to start. Some people have gone through changing bearings, slaves etc. and still having problems, some have done shim mod and still have this problem What do I need to do for it to go away? Do I need a new clutch or does the gearbox have to be removed and inspected? or is it simpler than it seems? As I do not want to just chuck money and keep on having problems. I use this car as a daily and sometimes I do lots of miles within a day, stop start miles (delivery driving sometimes). THANKS IN ADVANCE
