2019 Mk3 Sudden High Idle Problem
I'm doing 18 miles a day, its country back roads. I can get on the motorway to do that run but slow moving heavy traffic puts me off that one. Could even end up being parked up. I wonder if i had done the 400 mile journey up & back to Lincolnshire it would of stopped it. I usually do that journey 3 times through the year. Maybe that's been enough in the past. Should be up there middle / end of next month. (if the cars working....) Just don't do that many longer journeys these days, i could take it up the motorway over the weekend i guess & have a day out somewhere.

2019 Mk3 Sudden High Idle Problem
This is petrol so i guess might well behave differently. It was hesitant a bit on the return journey when i first started off but got me home. Not sure how long it will do this for, if it is doing a regen and not some other problem. I think I'd better get breakdown cover sorted. I didn't renew it when the 3 year warranty was up 2 months ago.

2019 Mk3 Sudden High Idle Problem
I have a look later, dash lights up like a xmas tree but i only notice if something stays on which it doesn't to date. Don't think there's any covering up unless the dealer's up to tricks.. Which i very much doubt. Its the first odd thing I've had with it in 3 years and a few months from new.

2019 Mk3 Sudden High Idle Problem
Just coming up to 14000 miles.. Bit conflicting information there, manual says to keep the revs up between 3 / 5K, lift off accelerator for a few sec then reapply. But my warning lights not on which reference's that action anyway. So do you mean just coast in gear at 3/4K rpm as much as possible?

2019 Mk3 Sudden High Idle Problem
Drove to work mostly in 2nd & 3rd today, only way i could get the revs up to 3K and above. Also setting the display to oil temp takes your mind off the high fuel usage.... Waited until it got to 70 / 80 degrees anyway. Giving it the beans a bit as well. Noticed the auto start / stop is still active, i thought this got disabled when its doing a regen? I always disable it anyway but forgot when i first set off. Nothings changed yet anyway, i think I'll ring the dealers up and see what they say as well. Maybe it needs a proper blip up the motorway for 30mins or so? One journey i haven't made since May time this year was a 200 mile & back trip up to Lincolnshire, usually do that at least 3 times a year. Other than that it local driving. Wonder if it is the regen thing whether that was enough to clean things out. Just rung the dealers, they said if it was doing a regen that it wouldn't be doing it all the time? I'll leave it a few days and see if it clears. Going to be £90 just to get some kind of answer out of them if it goes in....

2019 Mk3 Sudden High Idle Problem
Cheers, I'll have a read up. Most of what I've seen so far is all about diesel DPF's. Not found much practical advice on petrol GPF's / PPF's. I'll drive more thinking about getting the exhaust hotter over saving fuel for a bit and see what happens. There's no mention though of the higher revs happening in the manual, just the filter light coming on which mine hasn't. I guess i don't really want to see it coming on either!

2019 Mk3 Sudden High Idle Problem
Cheers guys, i wouldn't of thought of that. I never had a car with a GPF on it before, i think i have a vague memory of it mentioned that it had one. Saying that i never had a brand new car before 2019 when i brought the Fabia. So sounds like an Italian tune up might be required. I must admit i don't explore the upper rev range very much, i do 18 miles a day during the week on the work run. There's a 50 MPH stretch, i guess about 5 miles, the rest is slow moving through villages. I'm always thinking keep the revs down, save fuel and keep the MPG up. I'll pretend its a 4 speed box and hang out in 2nd / 3rd a lot more to get the revs up then. I see they say to release the accelerator while in gear for a few seconds and repeat. Is that something to do with getting oxygen in there to increase the temperature to burn the crap off? Will have a flick through the manual and see what's mentioned in there about it. Hopefully its the cause of it then, got to be worth a shot. Will let you know what happens....! Cheers

MKIII Fabia battery type: only EFB?
I'll have to pop the bonnet and have a look. Its been stress free motoring for 3 years, but the problems started this morning.... I don't think its the battery though! Unless it can cause a sudden constant high idle with no warning lights on the dash.

Arrgh, cheers. Maybe i should i read up on such things. I wonder what's changed there that you have to do that these days?

2019 Mk3 Sudden High Idle Problem
Hi all Had a search but not found this problem I've started to have as of this morning. So the idle has suddenly increased going by the rev counter up to around 1400 rpm. I was hoping starting it on the way home from work that it would correct itself, but no. Idle definitely seems higher than normal, i thought it was the rev counter playing up at first. Its like the choke doesn't come off on an old school engine. Though I'm sure i heard it go through the usual start up cycle with higher revs then dropping. Will have to check again in the morning what its doing. I didn't noticed this morning, only when i stopped at a junction some 7 miles into the journey. One thing I've noticed is if I'm slowing down to stop or crawling in 1st in traffic the revs will show just above 1000. If i actually stop it suddenly jumps up to around 1400 but i don't hear the revs change (i think, need to check that with the stereo off...) Not sure if the MPG has taken a hit as well, normally getting up to around 50+mpg on the work run but came out less today on both trips there and back. Temps are about the same outside with that MPG. Just out of the warranty by a month as well. I didn't extend it thinking it would be OK for another year..... Any ideas?

What the bit at the bottom about charging. Something about not connecting the charger negative directly to the terminal?

Extended Warranty?
Cheers for the reply, its the Fabia 1L TSI 110PS. Just been MOT'd / serviced, nothing found on their check list. I've got 1 year left on the PCP so either buying it in full this time next year or chopping it in at some point. I guess get the last service / MOT with them next year maybe. It seems OK at the moment but I've never really trusted the build quality on this version. More of a gut thing than real life experience though. Its really low millage for its age as done a years less driving due to covid, Its 13,200 after 3 years. Should be around 21K by now for my use. I've searched back through the forum to see what issues people have been experiencing with this model, broken door handles and infotainment units stopped working seems to be a thing so far. With previous S/H dealer brought cars where it came with a warranty i did extend them. With those it did prove to be worth it as had problems that got sorted. That would of been a 2002 1.8T VW Bora & after that a mk2 2013 Fabia with started to make expensive noises with the timing chain tensioner and the oil pan started leaking! I PX'd it in for this mk3.

Extended Warranty?
Hi guys. I'm at the 3 year point with my 2019 mk3 Fabia from new so breakdown cover and warranty is up this Friday. Extending the breakdown cover is a no brainier but not sure if its worth extending the warranty? Mine comes in at £188 all component cover when i looked a few days back. Has there been any expensive issues on these cars that anyone's aware of that's brewing or happened? I realise £188 is most likely less than any repair bill i will get for any work that needs doing but is it really likely to break? Cheers

Touch Screen Playing up mk3 2019 Model
Cheers for the reply. I'm pretty sure mines the Skoda MIB2 Amundsen, its the standard one that gets fitted to the 2019 mk3 1L TSI 110PS. After some hunting i found a link on here to a youtube video demonstrating what looked like the same problem on an earlier Fabia, infotainment system looked the same though. Might of been a 2016 / 17 model. It seems the fix is to give it a good wet clean, not a dry cloth type wipe over. Since I've done that things have improved a lot, also the response time is much faster. The jury is still out but i think its probably sorted from doing that. You wouldn't think just cleaning it would stop all the random issues i was having, must be a very sensitive touch screen that just has to be spotless with no oily finger prints all over it. Mine looked really clean anyway before cleaning it!

Touch Screen Playing up mk3 2019 Model
Hi all. Been having issues with the playback of music files for probably 1.5 years maybe where tracks would jump or even change track altogether. Lately also been noticing slow touch response with the touch screen. Like when i first turn it on it wont respond for much longer than it used to. I figure there's a bit going on when it boots as it scans any USB thumb drives for files etc. Also its been jumping screens and seems to go off on one. I've now enabled the clicker which registers when you touch the screen and found it can multiple trigger rapid fire type thing. Also just driving i hear it triggering, hands are nowhere near it! Its been doing this through the summer months as well so i don't think its just down to condensation or low temperature's as we are experiencing now. Though its does seem to be getting worse. Once the cabin warms up a bit seems to settled down but i think it can still play up. I've searched the forum for this issue, a few posts came up in 2019 but not much else. Anyone else started to have this issue with their 2019 mk3? I've tried resetting the infotainment system but hasn't made any difference. Will try again later without the USB thumb drive i use for all the music in there. I'm sure the satnav can be a bit hard work at times using the touch screen...

Infotainment slow response in use
I forgot to try it today on the shopping run, I'll try and remember next time i start it. Been trying to add the speed cameras POI today but my satnav doesn't eat it. managed to update the maps though so some progress.... Looks like a right old faff to import POI's, well generating a compatible file anyway. I don't profess to understand the process at all yet though!

Infotainment slow response in use
Cheers, don't think I've tried the button on the dash. I guess it toggles locking / unlocking of all doors? Looking at the button it suggests just locking. I did read on another thread about that button. Will be out in it tomorrow so will have go again, also update the maps and try the camera POI i found without bricking it...!

Infotainment slow response in use
Just checked with my VIN on the Skoda update portal and other than map data there are no other updates for the car. I guess i have to remove the NAV SD card, format it and copy the downloaded files as unpacked into the root? Think I'll take an image of the card before attempting anything....

Infotainment slow response in use
Hi, cheers for the reply. I never know what model they call them, I've always found it confusing. I think its a Amundsen, mines the 2019 model so what was ever fitted to that. Model: Fabia 1L TSI 110PS 2019 Also i use playlists a lot and been careful to format / tag everything the same. Its seems to get confused sometimes and not pickup on the playlist or jump tracks half way through. All very random though. I'll try and get a pic of the firmware version. I've not updated the sat nav maps either since i brought it, i stopped looking after a while as there didn't seem to be any updates. I can't even remember where I went to check for updates... I think i must of registered online on Skoda's website, guess i have a link for it somewhere... Its not the Kessy version, which is better for me. I've never really got my head around the boot locking thing, its always caught me out as first car I ever owned where you can't open with the engine running. If i remember i will open it then start the car depending on what I'm up to. The manual seems to suggest it disables opening while setting off or over 5km/h. Maybe I'll try making sure the drivers door is closed with engine is running while stationary, then open the door and try the boot. That's what the manual seems to suggest... Looks like this.

Infotainment slow response in use
Anyone else notice their infotainment system on a go slow and unresponsive on the touch screen. Mine seems to be getting worse when using the stereo side of it, it never used to be like that. The screen seems ok though as if i drop into nav mode or other touch screen works fine. I've never updated the firmware on the car, can i do that over WiFi or has to be with USB / SD card? Also is there a way to unlock the boot while the engine is running? Drives me nuts you can't open it, i usually dive in the back and release the rear seat forward to get in the boot.... Does that lock button on the dash work with the boot? Cheers

Keyless Fob issue
You can get a CR2032 in there OK then? I just changed the battery in my keyfob, a CR2032 just felt way too tight and didn't want to force it in there. So fitted a CR2025 instead as per original.

Keyfob battery
I was just going to post about the battery. I've just changed mine as it was nagging me to do so. I read you can get a CR2032 in there but seems way to tight and didn't want to force it in there so settled on a CR2025 as original. Battery didn't seem that flat, measured around 2.99V.
