  1. I've had a water pump failure on the1.4 diesel, I had thought oil temps were fluctuating a little higher over a few days and then both oil and water temps properly shot up on the motorway, limped off the motorway and stopped for a bit and then continued on back roads but temps were okay. Let the dealer pick it up and they eventually said they got it to replicate then fixed. Prior to this fault and after pump replacement the water temp never budges from 90C once warmed up, oil temp does creep up but rarely past 103C. All recall type fixes were done as I get regular services due to high mileage.
  2. Yeah, give it a regular spin all year round
  3. Just been out and it's working again, not sure if it's found a bit of gas left. I'll have it checked over anyway if it's getting unreliable. Thanks
  4. I think I've fallen foul of the 'year 2 upsell' which is what I'm being told I now have to undertake to provide the diagnosis...
  5. Any ideas what should be covered under warranty if the aircon stops working? E.g. pay for re-gas / service or expect it to be covered as a fault Thanks
  6. Thanks for info. Service was in Feb and they wanted it for longer to check some coolant items so I think it should be up to date with service campaigns, but I will ask. Car was registered Sept 15 and has done just over 50k now.
  7. Saw the oil & coolant temps shoot up yesterday on my Mk3 1.4 TDI fabia, does this sound like water pump issues? Coolant normally sits bang on 90C all the time but was probably up and down to as much as 120C, oil temp normally varies 95-97C occasionally 100C but I saw this at around 117C As soon as I noticed I backed off and did numerous stops so it didn't ever get as far as any warnings or faults, but the problem eventually cleared and temp levels started to come back down. Left it with Skoda now, but as the fault seems to have cleared are they likely to say nothing found? Any thoughts if it's likely to be pump, stat or other? No leaks or low oil / coolant levels, regular services and various 'skoda updates' done during services, still under warranty. Thanks LC
  8. What Bosch part is the rear wiper for the combi/estate?
  9. Yes variable, so after a service and reset does the value start at 18k and adjust as and how the car is driven over time or does it reset to a nominal value based on previous driving style?
  10. Can anyone confirm after a service, what the reset mileage interval should be for a diesel engine oil change? Appreciate it may then change due to conditions and driving over time. thanks
  11. I have been having exactly this, intermittently nice and smooth as you would expect then other times the notchy stiffness where you have to overcome a bit of resistance to get a small steering adjustment. I did wonder if tyre wear could be a factor. I've been wondering how to explain to the dealer an intermittent steering fault only felt at motorway speeds, I may just print the various threads when I book in next... I will try the steering column adjustment as well.
  12. I've been finding the fixed / variable service schedule very difficult to get right with a dealer; I do high mileage and lots of steady motorway driving, variable should be the schedule for me however even when explicitely specified I've found all manner of settings in the display. e.g. inspection interval set 20k miles / 365 days. The inspection will be whichever comes sooner, how can it possbily give up to 2 years variable when the maximum is set at 365 days? Is there something definitive I should instruct the dealer to set so I know I am on the correct variable interval even if they don't know?
  13. I bought it at one years old just ready for its first fixed service which was done as part of the sale, I also requested the change to variable servicing at the same time as my mileage justifies it. That was about 10 months ago and the second service is due now.
  14. My Fabia estate diesel is warning the service is due in 1600 miles on the variable service schedule. I probably have a window in about that mileage when I will get the service done. If I end up doing a little more mileage than 1600 does it invalidate warranties etc? Are there any other issues if this happens or do I just get more warnings as the mileage gets closer to zero? (I will try to get it serviced earlier if I can) Thanks
  15. If maxidot says average 60mpg, I probably get 58mpg when I calculate. Not sure which is the most accurate.
