  1. Damo...many thanks for your help with this...much appreciated.
  2. As I cannot upload many photos of the car ...here is the link to the advert on Pistonheads that has more photos which I hope is ok. https://www.pistonheads.com/classifieds/used-cars/skoda/superb/skoda-superb-3-6-v6-4x4-dsg-elegance-lhd-vw-group/7092562
  3. This Left Hand Drive Superb is in outstanding condition and is probably the cheapest in Europe at £14,449 ONO....Leather/auto/15K miles/Columbus/New MOT/ This car is different in a number of ways. Primarily it has the rare and powerful VAG 3.6L 260 hp engine that really eats up the miles in a refined and luxurious way with decent fuel economy relative to the size of the engine. Secondly it has what VAG called a twin door which means that the rear door can function as a hatchback or a normal boot.I can send you a photo of this if you would like These cars are unusual with the bigger engines and the DSG permanent 4 wheel drive. One recently for sale was an undercover CID car...which tells you something about its performance! It is a spacious and very comfortable car with most luxury accessories fitted such as leather upholstery, heated seats, automatic transmission, VAG Columbus navigation. It is a real pleasure to drive. I recently did a 8 hour trip in it and it was faultless. There are other extras fitted such as a boot and roof spoiler.wind deflectors, mud flaps etc but the 2 most significant changes made to it have been the updated LED lights which are super bright as can be seen in the photos and the wheel colour that was changed from the , more traditional silver, to black. The rear windows were tinted to give added privacy and reduce sun glare etc.Its a bit like a Christmas tree with all the extras even Skoda puddle lights! The car has FSSH and was most recently serviced by Skoda in Germany (November 2016) and the mileage (shown in KMS) can also be verified with Skoda. It has a private number S16SUP that will stay on the car and the car will come with a new MOT If you are looking for a car to use in Europe you will not find the equivalent model cheaper with such low mileage and extras etc. In Germany where these cars are used more extensively you will not find one for less that Eur 20,000 with probably 3 times the mileage. It is an unusual car in this condition and does create surprise with its good looks and outstanding performance. Please contact me if you have any questions and I will try my best to answer them...more photos on request many thanks for looking Simon
  4. I can confirm that You are correct that it is from China. I have the same unit fitted in a Dodge Ram SRT-10 that replaced the original outdated unit.Mine works ok but I did need to buy an aerial booster/amplifier to get good radio (FM) reception. Mine does not link with sensors but you can fit a rear view camera in it which does work very well if ,indeed, you need one.
  5. I am surprised that the administrator has not toned down some of the needlessly aggressive comments from forum members? We all have different levels of expertise and understanding so seek differing views and experiences.I find this a good and helpful forum and it would be a pity if it became less effective/helpful.
  6. I have got the V6 too...lucky us! I fitted mud flaps from these people, front and rear, and they do a great job and look good. For the cost they are a good investment in my opinion. http://www.superskoda.com/Skoda/SUPERB-II/Superb-II-rear-mudflaps-original-Skoda-autoas
  7. Personally I would leave it until just before Easter so stretch it a few months and probably look for another dealer as the one you use does not seem competent.I am sure a forum member can recommend someone good local to you?
  8. I suppose it depends on what you want to get from the replacement unit? I would be tempted to look for a Columbus unit that does the job and may add a bit to resale value? http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/SKODA-SUPERB-COLUMBUS-RNS-510-LED-SAT-NAV-DVD-MP3-VERSION-3T0-035-680A-/322380285262?hash=item4b0f5cc54e:g:m78AAOSwnHZYbYIe I have done this on a number of my cars and buying non manufacturer equipment was always more of a gamble with fitting issues etc (generally wiring/adapters) ...but maybe that was just me. If you buy a used unit , as above, you may need a radio unlock code...maybe the seller has it but these can also be obtained online for 10-20. Also I wonder if the used unit comes with the map dvd? Just my 10 cents worth
  9. Some things I forgot. Keep the yellow breakdown vests in the car and easily accessible as the Austrian Police sometimes fine you if they are not "easily accessible"! You need a vignette/ sticker to drive on Austrian motorways...its only Euros 8 which is for 10 days i think. You might also be able to take snow chains in lieu of winter tyres but best to check.
  10. Brussels/Bonn/Frankfurt/Nuremberg has worked well. This takes you on faster German autobahn and also avoids any tolls that the French will try and squeeze out of you at the start! You will probably, legally, have to have winter tyres in Vienna and Germany. In Vienna the car parking can be really quite expensive...40-50 Euros a day in the centre by the Opera House....there is great underground parking at Karlsplatz.. a short walk away that is (or was) a third of this price. All my cars have uneconomical large engines that slurp up petrol so can't help you on that one.Although in Germany it is always better to go off the motorway to an Autohof where the fuel is usually a bit cheaper.Apologies if I am telling you stuff you already know.
  11. Excellent video thanks. I learned a lot too from this and am now convinced that the car is ok and I am the problem As a newcomer I must say this is really a great and helpful forum
  12. Thanks very much for your helpful, and clear reply. I think that the problem (unfortunately) may be me and my lack of understanding of how the lights actually work with the cornering lights etc! When I checked the lights ,post installation, the car was in a different position than when I checked them later so this may explain it as all the bulbs etc work. I will keep my eye on them today and if necessary will disconnect the battery as advised. Thanks again
  13. Update....if I move the light switch with to the left the DRLs work...is this normal as I assumed they worked with the "Auto function" too? With the DRLs only the front lights illuminate? Now one of the fog lights does not work (UK passenger side) swapped bulbs over and nothing..so not a problem with the bulb so a wiring or fuse fault. Is there a separate fuse for the passenger side foglight ? In my defense it is a Left hand drive car with the owners manual in a language I don't understand...so yes that will be my next purchase :|
  14. After reading a number of article on this forum I decided to upgrade my DRLs for these http://www.ebay.co.u...=STRK:MEBIDX:IT . I watched a video on youtube on how to change them and it was a satisfyingly easy job for someone with (ahem) limited technical ability.Straight change over ...everything fine. Looked very nice...brighter and cleaner. This afternoon I go to move the car and the DRLs are not functioning but there is no warning light either? I double checked that the drl option is enabled and then even replaced one bulb with the original but still nothing? I checked all the normal fuses(not the very large ones) and they were all ok..so a bit frustrated really and welcome any advice from the less inept! Many thanks
  15. There seems to be plenty of original ones on ebay.de at much lower prices.
  16. A belated thank you for such a helpful and clearly explained post.Lacking in technical ability I bought the LED lights and took them to my local garage to have them installed. When I picked it up they were fitted but the warning light was still on and they had not been able to solve the problem. They had put resistors on every cable...but not in the way you outlined. I then got fed up driving the car with the warning light on although the lights functioned perfectly. So I bit the bullet and printed off your instructions, took my time, and with your great help the warning light is off and I am chuffed ...in fact very chuffed. Thanks again.
  17. I had the airbag warning light come on when the garage fitted new led lights ...maybe a coincidence. Anyway I bought an iCarsoft i908 Multi systems scanner for Audi / VW / Seat / Skoda OBD Diagnostics and this got rid of the warning light and I think they are a good bit of kit to have on hand. But the car is being serviced next week so I will also ask them to double check the airbag system just in case there is a real fault rather than a gremlin.
  18. Just a quick thought. Why don't you consider fitting M&S tyres then you don't have to store the various sets of wheels and fiddle around changing the wheels etc? I have used M&S tyros for some time now and found them ok...also on my 3.6. If you do change the wheels I understand that the best advice is to reduce the original wheel size by 1"?
  19. Thanks everyone for your input. I will be going to Germany and have booked the car in for a service there with the Skoda main dealer...ironically just on the Czech border ! I didn't get a reply from the dealer on the Czech side. The German dealer is willing to retrofit the reversing camera which is good but the total price is Euros 239 for parts but 6.5 hours labour costing 390 so overall euros 629...so I am thinking about that one...parts seem ok but labour seems long although the hourly rate of 60 euros does not seem bad. I have also asked them for a price for the MFSW but as Langers2k said (thanks) I might also need this steering wheel controller so it might all add up...maybe plan B is better to wait for a specialist in the UK..any recommendations in the South Wales are (or commutable from there) would be appreciated...or maybe the German price is reasonable..frankly I don't know.
  20. Thanks for that. It is a LHD saloon model and, on reflection, quite low spec but ,overall, a great car so I thought it was worth upgrading to a better spec with some useful additions. The reversing camera seems more of a problem as the local Italian main dealer could not fix it (?) but I will search again on the forum although with VCDS required I will probably try another dealer and buy a MFSW in the interim so I can get both done at the same time. I assume that I could get a MFSW with paddles as presumably ( I don't really know!) it is another VCDS coding exercise?
  21. Hi.I would appreciate some advice on whether it is possible to retrofit 2 things...a multi function steering wheel and a reversing camera? My 2013 Superb II (3.6) does not have a reversing camera but does have the factory fitted sensors linked to the Columbus unit. It has a standard steering wheel non MF. I spend a lot of time in Italy and the local Skoda dealer could not work out how to link the reversing camera that I bought although it was advertised as being a VAG product and model specific ? The MFSW is easy enough to buy but then does the nightmare continue or is it plug and play if you have a VCDS? Thanks for any info.
  22. I just replaced the front and rear badges on my 2013 Superb and it was quite easy. I measured the size of the badges and then ordered a black carbon finish from eBay and they fitted very nicely if you followed the instructions.I prised the old badges off using a plastic trim tool(anything strong and plastic -not too thick should do) It was like peeling off a well stuck down piece of tin foil. I cleaned the black plastic mount up and stuck the new badges on.Very quick, easy and satisfying job.
