  4. my front springs have distinctive coloured dots - 2 pink + 2 blue on both . Can anyone please advise on what they signify. I've a 1.2 TSI Outdoor model.
  5. HI stephmobile - not as yet.
  6. I am another who is looking to get mine changed. Does anyone know of someone in Worcester area that could do that for me please ?
  7. Also looking for replacement front seats - have been trying to shape a foam block to fit the base (and me) but it's proving to be a simple idea but in practice difficult to get the desired result !

Fabcol/Colin - obviously we are members of the same club !
  9. that's providing my wallet forgets about buying the new rims of course !
  10. Quite right Expatman - it's become an OTT issue - one of those things that's just got stuck in my mind - and totally out of proportion. After a couple of months I know I will forget all about it.
  11. have just ordered new rims 16" + Goodyear All Seasons Gen 2 - but think I may have made a less than optimum choice of tyre size given that the wheel arch gap with my current 17" + 225/50 tyres looks rather high to me. The new tyres are 215/60 which(according to tyre calculator sites) will slightly decrease the wheel arch gap albeit by only c 4mm, but it seems that 205/55 would decrease it by 12.5 mm which cosmetically would look better ! So am now rapidly trying to decide whether it's worthwhile amending my order.......
  12. Expatman: - The new rims will almost certainly not be Skoda originals. They will most likely be new Dezent or Alutec
  13. Follow up question to my OP - Centre wheel caps - will existing Skoda wheel caps on my 17" also fit new 16" wheels - or is does that depend on the make of the new rims ?
  14. Interesting thought Expatman ! Although I'd rather not spend £1k I prefer to spend it and have both angles covered rather than just get the tyres for the 17", and then wish I'd got the 16" in the first place. As it is I will probably defer any wheel/tyre purchase for a month or so - as having acquired my Yeti only 2 wks ago, i then spent the next 7 days in hospital - since when my driving has consisted of just one 5 mile shop - so hardly enough to make firm decision about any changes !!!!! Meantime thanks to all those who have contributed so helpfully to this thread.
  15. Expatman: - precisely - that's why I queried the VRSWhite-Hatch. Most of my load carrying will be just me ! with daughter + 2 kids very occasionally
  16. VRS_White-Hatc : presumably though the reinforced sidewall makes them a slightly harder ride then the std load ones ?
  17. EJStubbs/Zib/Carlston - many thanks - most helpful - almost there now -
  18. Thanks for above replies. Brijo_ - my driving is mainly urban, with some more rural A & B journeys. Help needed on further question please - what rim spec should I get re width and offset for (I presume) 215/60 tyres - the whole issue of rim width and offset always has me confused when I look at wheel websites.
  19. Am finding the ride on 17" (225/50) too harsh for comfort, and am aware that some Yeti owners opted for 16" when buying a new car. But what I am not clear on is what difference in steering feel/ lack of precision I will notice if I go from 17". When I changed my previous Fabia wheels from 16" to 15" it certainly made the ride more comfortable, but I did lose a feel of steering, and the higher sidewalls increased the lean when going round corners/roundabouts. Would welcome comments from any members who have changed from 17" to 16" on their Yeti's. Also whether they changed from 225/50 to 215/60 or 205/55 or 60.

Have now resolved the problem - got a stronger than me neighbour to release the under bonnet catch after 3/4 tries by him. Found that it had virtually seized up - have now applied a generous amount of silicone grease and worked into the catch lever mechanism but it took over 20 mins of almost constant rotation before it freed up.

Just acquired a 2017 plate Yeti - tried to open the bonnet but just could not get the under bonnet catch to lift up - is this a known problem with the Yeti ?
  22. Thanks for all the above replies - at least some understood the issue ...................... I realised when I made the OP that I was probably over-reacting - just when compared to the Fabia it is an unaccustomed form of excercise, and as Weasley says, 'as much about technique as strength', and more is required than the simple Fabia technique !
  23. Close to buying a Yeti, and up to yesterday had been focusing my attention on how it fits my needs as to how it drives etc. Then, belatedly, checked out the rear seating boot and tailgate. Was very disappointed and put off by the effort required to close the tailgate. I am 6ft tall but found it took a significant effort to close - and became hard work. I'm surprised that this has not been raised as an issue on this forum before. I appreciate that with its high roofline the tailgate has to further to travel, and that is not helped by the fact that you have to pull it 80% + down before it's weight overcomes the gas strut resistance. Any comments/suggestions welcome.
