I was going to comment on having to contend with the rivets, having read this I shant bother

Rivets were a doddle in comparison, I've bought rivnuts/nutserts for when it comes to putting the carrier back on permanently, I'm HOPING they won't be troublesome but I'm not counting on it, this door & lock are fighting me all the way, it's a battle of will's & I'm determined to win, I have to or it'll fail its MOT in a couple of weeks. :(

Hi what size of rivnuts did you use?

  2. Please can anyone help.. i just got my mk1 vrs back from the wrap specialist.. got my handles wrapped... and now the back doors wont open.. ive took door card off.. i can hear lock working with fob but and i can hear cable when pulling on it.. but sounds like it aint connected at handle.. please say i dont need to drill pop rivets to get door open..

    Any help greatly appreciated

Just the 'Tech' bit wrong it seems, First Registered October 2012 before the 'Tech' models were on sale,

    unless a Skoda show car.

    Seems OK.

Rear Brake binding advisory at the MOT so you would want to know if brakes serviced since or they need doing.

That is a common fault though.

Quick update ive contacted the ebay seller.. who swears blind its a 1.2 tech

Personally i would stick with the car you  have and know, and when there is one in your budget go for a Mk3 Monte Carlo 1.2 TSI.

    Not a 1.4TDI 3 cylinder Mk3.

    I bumped the 'tech' thread.

I still do not think you found a seller with a 1.2 12v 'Tech' just someone that does not know what it is,  just a Monte Carlo.

Which can be fine depending on the spec & optional extras that the car has.

Check with the description sellers give to Monte Carlo models.

Thanks again mate.. i  might just take that advice lol.. heres the ebay number for the 1.2 tech.. have a look and let me no

Is a Monte Carlo 'Tech' not a 1.2 TSI  or 1.6TDI CR?

'Tech' being what they brought out to get sales moving as the RRP was a bit high and they were shifting few.

Be sure of what the engines / power of cars you see, there are some mis-advertised.

    There are Monte Carlo

    1.2 12v 69ps

    1.2 TSI 86ps

    1.2 TSI 105ps

    1.6tdi 75ps

    1.6tdi 105ps

Those are 'Asking Prices' on Autotrader and elsewhere.

No need to pay those prices, they are a sellers Wish & Dream.

Thanks again for reply... yes it was the 1.2 12v... would your choice be the monte carlo in the mk2? Which engine would you go? I know theres no such thing as trouble free motoring but i like to find the best of the bunch.. hence the mk1 vrs engine i currently have lol

If you go for a 1.6 TDI CR you might want to be sure it has not had the VW Group Emission 'Fix', so no New Engine Management and plastic tat in the air intake.

If it has you might want one with a 'Roll back', and maybe a Remap.

Others with them might be along to advise.

If a 1.2 TSI not an early one, chain tensioner issues possibly.

    ?

    What is your budget?

Did you fix this issue ? As I’ve got the same problem and can’t think what else it could be water has got behind it but would expect it to be water resistant

Yes.. after trying all the cheap things.. fuse.. switch etc.. i bought a new motor and that done the trick.. what year is your car? Be careful as my part number started 6y as mine is a 2007.. i think before 55 plate they started 6q and 6y there after.. easy replacement

  10.
