  1. I too discovered this problem today and I have not updated / upgraded / changed anything - it just stopped working. Having followed the thread here, I take some comfort in that it is a widely suffered problem. This leads me to hope that whatever the cause I will be corrected by Skoda or someone else.
  2. Not sure where we are on this topic now but I have successfully updated the map and got it working again. I suspect that the original download which was loaded by the satnav was corrupted somewhere but I shall never know! It was the forum which suggested downloading and trying again so thank-you forum.
  3. Thanks for your helpful response. I think I have now got the SatNav to work (not yet driven it out on the road, so hedging my bets). I downloaded the file again, reformatted the SD drive into an MSDOS format (so my Mac said) and somehow got the Columbus to read the file and do an update. I suspect I could not reproduce what I did but it seems to have worked thus saving me the cost of taking it to Skoda for them to sort out. Again, thanks for helping me solve this problem. Paul
  4. Thanks for responding - I will try the hold down button and see if anything happens although I am not hopeful. The update installed was the 2020 map update from the Skoda website so I am not sure doing it again will help. I suspect that something has gotten corrupted and it might have to be a dealer solution but it would be nice to be able to do it myself.
  5. Help / advice needed if possible: I upgraded the database on my Skoda Superb (bought new 2017) to 19/20 i.e the data within HIGH12_P177_EU_201920. The upgrade went (it seemed) ok and ran slowly through to 100% however having got to 100%, it thought for a while and then the screen message displayed "Navigation Database is unavailable". If I start the Superb from cold, the satnav comes on and starts its checking in the usual way and eventually drops out onto the same message. I have tried it with and without the original Skoda SD card is slot 1 but to no avail. Can anyone offer any advice?

  7. My comments are to do with updating the maps using a MacBook - I now seem to be able to do it first time and with no problems. My method is download the files from wherever you choose - the Skoda website or one of the links people give here the files download to the "Download" Directory on a mac and automatically unpack themselves (at least they do on mine) insert an SD Card into the Mac (I use a high speed 64Gb one just to make sure I have enough space) clean the SD card using the free app CleanMyDrive (make sure you choose the SD Card and not your mac heard drive) - ensure everything on the card is deleted. Open the High........ folder in Downloads, you are interested in what is in this folder and do not want to have the "high......" folder on your SD card, just what is within it. For those who want to know exactly the folder name, currently it is HIGH12_P169_EU_2018_2019 copy the files over (the txt file and the two sub directories) leaving everything in their original subdirectory - you will have a file called metaininfo2.text and two folders Mib1 and Mib2 and their contents within them. It takes a while for them to copy but you can see progress if you have a Finder screen running for the SD card get CleanMyDrive running choose the SD Card (I have labelled mine Skoda just to make sure it is obvious to me) run CleanMyDrive selecting the option to remove junk - the space figures will now change on the screen but not by verymuch pull the SD card out of the SD - do not eject it, pull it out. The Mac grumbles but you can ignore that. I found if you eject it, it seems to write the junk files onto the SD Card which the skoda update process does not like Insert the SD card into your Skoda SD slot and choose the update options described in the SD Handbook to proceed with the update On my skoda, it thinks for sometime (minutes) and then starts the update and takes around an hour to do it. If you stop driving during the update, you just start that bit (ice from the point above) when you start driving again and it picks up from where it left off last time. Hope this helps - any questions post them here Paul
  8. The AdBlue usage / warning indicator is not very sensitive or accurate, in my experience it gives an indication of how much has been used and nothing more than that. The secret of a happy driving life is not to let your car get down to nearly empty or if you do like dicing with running out, have a spare bottle of Adblue in the boot. I fill up at one of the motorway service areas near where I live and pay around 90p per litre of Adblue and get around 700 miles per litre.
  9. I wonder if there is a way of using this system to import the locations of speed cameras? I know that various work arounds have appeared on this site related to Speed Cameras but if we knew the GPS co-ordinates of each speed camera it seems to me that the problem would be easily solved. Apart from an audio warning of approaching a speed camera I suppose.
  10. By following Ashmount's instructions and ensuring that there really were no other files on my 64Gb card using "clean my drive" I finally got my SatNav to update this weekend - it took about 40 minutes and I did it whilst driving. Of course the next update is due in November ! but at least I now know how to do it. It really should be easier than they make it.
  11. The Blob Problem and the latest map I too only have a mac at my disposal for downloading the latest columbus map and get the blob message when I try to download. I have downloaded the file at the (kindly provided) MartiniB link but this turns out to be the 2017 map file not the 2017/2018 file. The Skoda website seems to be sufficiently clever to stop me downloading to anything which is not a computer but not to download to a computer! Can anyone suggest a solution which does not involve buying a Windows PC? Thanks
  12. Well it was new to me as well so thank you rumiexile for posting about it. Now all I have to do is to drive somewhere and get some data into it!
  13. I ordered this one from Amazon Skoda Superb MK3 2015 - Onwards Estate Upper Trunk Floor Boot Liner Dog Mat PVC (put this into the amazon search bar to find it). sold by e-garage uk It was slightly cheaper than the one you are thinking of, arrived within about 10 days (earlier than mentioned on the site) and fitted very snuggly which was a good thing. I am quite satisfied with it.
  14. I had never heard of AdBlu before I was thinking of buying my Superb Diesel 2.0 TDI 150PS 4x4 SCR (nor had the Skoda salesperson who did not even know it used it but that is another story). I looked online for the cost of AdBlu and saw that a typical price was in the region of £1.30 a litre (obviously it varies a bit, Amazon seems to be the cheapest) plus the fun of dispensers. I also read in Briskoda discussions about AdBlu having a shelf life etc. So today I went to the Lorry area of the service station just off my nearest motorway junction - Shell AdBlue was 85p per litre, the dispenser hose fitted the blue refuel socket perfectly and soon I was refilled without the hassle of storage or having to order it etc. I also got the impression that this was a standard price for dispensed AdBlu at a motorway garage. There was no AdBlu dispenser in the car area. I got 750 miles per litre of AdBlu used (I know that is a terrible mixed unit - sorry) and my driving style has been about 75% motorway. Hope this helps out anyone who is just discovering AdBlu.
  15. I would not normally reply to my own posting but having noted that someone liked the posting but did not tell me how to solve the problem, I thought that maybe this will prompt a reply from someone. I have read every part of all of the manuals I can find online and have not found a solution - I realise that they are not written in the clearest english and so I may have missed the point but does anyone know how to get around this peculiar problem?
  16. My big problem with the radio is turning it off without turning the infotainment centre off as well. Suppose I have the satnav on and the radio on with TP activated but then I want to turn the radio off and leave TP active and continue to use the SatNav. If I silence the radio by pushing the mute button, TP is also muted. Yes you can turn down the volume to nearly zero but that takes time and is a nuisance method. I have found that changing the audio source to Aux silences the radio and leaves TP active as well as the SatNav working but surely there must be an easier way? My Skoda is a lovely 4x4 Business Grey SE L Executive
  17. I am impressed with your dealers, what a great way to keep in touch with you. The dealers from whom I ordered my Skoda (delivery possibly next week or the week thereafter) have been absolutely useless in keeping in touch with me, not responding to emails, customer questionnaires or phone calls etc. Eventually when the post purchase feedback is given, they (and others) will hear why one should give them a miss. Great on price, useless on service.
  18. Superb Hatchback with various extras but no sunroof - ordered week 39 told manufacture week 48 so delivery probably week 52 or 1 taking into account Christmas (unless they can get it down the chimney !)
