Hello all,
I have been quoted silly money for replacing the front end and cat of my old octi, yet it has passed its emissions test and its only the fexi pipe which is split. Hoping I can fit a new down pipe myself. Is anyone able to provide a part number for me?
Think it is this? http://www.onlineautomotive.co.uk/Products.aspx?ProductID=384741&VehicleID=289069
Will I need exhaust paste/sealant?
Thanks

The front ones should be the same calipers as the VRS, only the carriers are different to fit the 288mm disc.
The VRS caliper part numbers are 1U0615123 (left) and 1U0615124 (right). I think the part numbers you've given above are the caliper manufacturers part numbers rather than VAG Groups but they're still the same calipers.
Ah the chassis no brings up 288 x 25 mm discs...!?

Or part code 1J0615124A
if there is a guide pin over the gromit? My link

If in doubt look it up and phone around! Not sure why my garage struggled so much!
Part number 3AO615123= front Lft
3AO615124 =front rt
Cheapest I've found My link

Does no one know or is it too stoopid a question to warrant an answer?

Thanks for the tips guys,
Was seriously looking at a reconditioned engine, apparently rebuilt, with 2 year warranty.
Anyone rate these guys?

Hello there Briskoda folk!
Like I fool I let my cam belt go!
Anyone know the best place to look? Have tried 1st choice and find an engine so far.
Quotes are coming in from 600 for standard octi engine to between 800- 1200 for a turbo as in the 4x4 model. Warranty is usually only 2 months those one offers 12.
Any advice welcomed
Thanks

Just to let you know the following fault codes were read:
01314 - ECM
01316 ABS CM
01336 D.BUS FOR COMFORT
01330 C.CONTROL MODULE - CENTRAL CONVENIENCE
00778 STEER ANGLE SENSOR
01324 CM AWD
01318 INJ PUMP CM
01331 DOOR CONTROL MODULE O/S/F
AIRBAG
01299 DIG INTERFACE FOR DATABUS
We then cleared codes and then re-checked it and 2 were instantly present which were 01330 and 01318
The battery holds a voltage of 12.3 rising to 13.7 when running.
Any further ideas much appreciated.

Well, blimey! That's worth a try certainly! Bet you were relieved! Shall charge it up and see what happens.
Cheers,

The Central Convenience Controller is not built into the fuse block?
-
Expensive? Maybe find one at a wreckers yard...
Any other things to try first?

Andrew,
Did you ever get this sorted, as mine is displaying exactly the same symptoms!?
Cheers,

Hello all,
Problems with my 2001 octavia! It all started with a flickering internal light when the doors were open, accompanied by a clicking behind the dash. Then the button controlled central locking and electric windows + sunroof all ceased working also. To begin with the problem righted itself 2 miles down the road.?! I attributed it to damp mornings? We tracked it down as far as fuse 14. If removed and refitted it reset and all was back to normal, for a time. Now, 2-3 weeks on resetting the fuse doesn't always bring it out of it's sulk. Any light on the matter and how these 3 things are related much appreciated.

Thanks guys,
Great diagram, where did you get that?
It is just above the others on the steering column apparently. Around

Dear wise folk.
My 2001 Octavia 4x4 is stuck in the garage having failed it's MOT. The Anti lock braking system shows a fault with the Longitudinal acceleration sensor. My mechanic can find the latitudinal and rotational acceleration sensor but cannot find the LONGITUDINAL one. This is most frustrating as one can imagine. If anyone knows where it is located that would be a great help.
Many thanks,
Henry:confused:

Hello all,
I am a recent addition to your midst having bought a 2001 4x4 Ocatvia recently. Went to jump in it today and it wouldn't open when I pressed the button, got the spare keys and they wouldn't open it either. The red light flashes on both keys so not low batteries there to blame. I opened it with the key and turned the ignition, nothing, no lights on the dash or anything. Dead as a Dodo!
Could it be the immobiliser has been activated as I may have forgotten to lock it? or a flat battery? With a flat battery it usually tries to turn over? Only other time I had nothing on the dash was when the immobiliser on my old old volvo fell to the floor... However I know not how to deactivate to immobiliser as I haven't got the key tag with the scratch and sniff code...
So any ideas please write!!!
I will try to bump start it tomorrow.
Cheers and Happy New Year!!!

Thanks Bengie et al. 60K coming up on it have you followed the cambelt and water pump advice?
He's asking £4.6k, parkers value it at 4280...what do you guys reckon?

Private sale Mk1 1.8T posted on this forum and pistonheads, mjs4x4, 2001, no warranty.. he says occasionally, the ‘engine electronics’ symbol lights up. He is passing on the ‘fault code’ reader, apparently one of the cylinders is sensing that the mixture is a little lean....

I am slightly perturbed by the repair costs quoted on that rear dif bearing query on a 60K mile car?

What is the ground clearance and is there sump guard?
