Start/stop too quick to activate.
A feature of newer vehicles is to stop the engine prior to a dead stop think it first came out with the Superb MK3. Yes it is a pain I always turn stop start off myself driving style for many does not work well with what this is trying to achieve.

vRS service quality at local dealership
During a service ECO mode is checked on road test no other is required. As for checking blind spot if a fault has happened it should be logged even if not active. I have seen the latching of the connector in the door at fault and also the glass. But it is very hard if no fault is logged. I would call it - at time of test no fault found with no code. You could claim that the tech was going over and above driving so far to try and get the vehicle to fault needing to find roads which would bring up the blind spot detection. They must not be that busy wasting so much time driving around. I'm surprised the tech was not questioned as to why the repair took so long. I would probably look elsewhere in the future.

Cambelt due for changing, but low mileage
I would change the belt and water pump. 5 years is a decent time for a belt and the associated parts while its stripped it is good practice to also change the water pump as that can also fail. As a car is probably the second most expensive item people purchase why take the risk I have seen many VAG diesel engines go bang a cheap repair for that is 5K plus. Distance traveled as mentioned is only one factor to take into account. As a separate point you will be due a major / full / 6 year service next year also if following the service schedule replacing fuel, air and pollen filters a delay will increase the cost next year. Along with a worry about reliability of the belt.

Bought the new Skoda Octavia mk4 1.5 TSI (6 speed manual)
Sorry been busy at work and not checked back here for a while. For security they need further proof of ID for the lock unlock feature : https://www.skoda-connect.com/help/GB/en/5e/null/2018-5/tips-and-tricks/customer-verification Many dealers / owners are not aware of how & what they need to do to fully set up all the features of the connect system. I think its mainly due to a lack of training / interest from sales people.

Bought the new Skoda Octavia mk4 1.5 TSI (6 speed manual)
Welcome, Glad overall you like the car waiting for the vrs option to come out myself. The stop start could be as you mentioned one of the parameters not within the range to allow stop start to work. I would say that 90% of the time that the info display should tell you which one is not within tolerance. Simple things like air con can stop it from working. The other 10% I would say is the battery, as you have just picked the vehicle up the battery voltage could be low. While scanning the vehicle I would have hopped they would connect a battery conditioner to the vehicle this could have put enough charge in the vehicle to remedy the problem without them realizing.
