AC Air Conditioning broken/faulty
This is an old thread but for anyone looking at this.. the fix doesn't last long, same thing happened again after about 6 months. A more permanent fix seems either a complete compressor change with improved clutch design or perhaps changing just the pulley & clutch to improved design. The original pulley is not compatible with the improved clutch. Hard to source however, this seems to be an option: http://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005005497886208.html I'm dubious of the quality but not many other options. Might give it a go (or try a breakers yard) & report back..

Variable service - can't reset oil quality to good
Finally got this sorted out. Turns out there's a few more settings to update: I changed a few, & I believe a combination of these changes are required but can't confirm exactly which. The changes I made include: Coding of service interval extension (SIE) - Status ESI or SID Coding of service interval extension (SIE) - Selection of ESI or SID Coding of service interval extension (SIE) - Oil level (not sure about this one particularly) Following these (& the previous re-enabling the TOG) changing Coding of service interval extension (SIE) - Oil quality immediately resulted in '---' in oil service due date/miles Hope this helps others! PS. Does anyone know what: Coding of service interval extension (SIE) - remote clock receiver Does??

AC Air Conditioning broken/faulty
Just a quick update. Finished the job today. About 2.5hrs start to finish at a leisurely pace. Done in situ, access after removing the front wheel is good. Beside the usual tools the only requirement is a circlip pliers. The hardest part is getting the armature with the three legs off. A puller might have helped but I managed without. I attach some pics including the old pulley. You can see where the lobes have worn. The armature with the 3 legs have protrusions at the end of each leg that engage with these lobes. Looks like they simply worn out. I've only got around 85k on the clock so lifetime on these parts looks limited! A/C back to normal.. just in time for the cold weather 😒

Variable service - can't reset oil quality to good
Hello all, Apologies for bring this topic up yet again but I've done a fair bit of searching & can't find an answer. I've just completed a service & used the correct oil etc so would like to change from fixed to variable servicing. I checked the codes on the car maintenance booklet & it does show a variable service interval (QI6). I reset SRI with VCDS & then went in & tried to change the oil quality from poor to good. VCDS says it's accepted the change but after reloading it's still poor. The next maintenance is showing approx 1 yr. I got this procedure from here. Am I missing something else? Many thanks

AC Air Conditioning broken/faulty
For anyone looking at this it might be useful to know the part number of my compressor, which is 5K0820803A, a Delphi DH5. It also has a code 6CVC 140 on the bottom right of the label. I've sourced a replacement pulley & clutch here Hopefully I won't be looking at this myself in a year or two!

AC Air Conditioning broken/faulty
Thanks for the info. I just tried turning the centre nut on the compressor & it turns freely so I assume I've been (somewhat) lucky. Having a quick looks it looks possible to change in situ via the wheel arch. I see you mention use a puller to get the clutch disk off. How does it reattach? Are the three legs press fitted into the pulley? Many thanks

AC Air Conditioning broken/faulty
Well that could certainly be the issue! I had a look at the compressor again & the centre bolts & fixtures are stationary (no rotation whatsoever) while the pulley is in motion. I've attached a photo, hopefully you can see what I mean. The AC was selected on when the photo was taken. It looks like this may be a replacement part . And it's been mentioned before on this forum Looks like I'll need a puller but hopefully won't need to work about degas etc..
