  1. Hi! I've upgraded from factory Swing to Bolero and unfortunately if I enter to the Tone menu the HU reboots: My car is from 02.2012, the Bolero is 08.11.2010, so 1Z0 035 156 G (SW0029 HW015). According to ETKA my car should have 1Z0 035 156 M by date, so I've checked the behavior on table with only Pos, Neg and Acc wires. The behavior is the same 😞 According to Google there might be a newer sw, namely 0030, I also found the flash file (1Z0035156G_DE2_0030.sgo), but I don't have ODIS, neither VCP to update it. The Version info from the hidden submenu is also missing. These are the fact. Has anybody encountered this behavior? What could be the fix?
  2. No, the answer is it depends. According to the database after 22.11.2010 single mass flywheel was intended to built in (into manual, 5 speed, front wheel, w/o StastStop), but there might be deviations, so "before parts order, physical inspection of old part necessary".
  3. In Hungary the Isofix anchor for the front passanger seat was optional or was standard in the "Family" trim level. It is also possible to retrofit the anchors, in 2019 I've looked it up. The anchor (1K0 881 545) was still available to buy from official workshops BUT the necessary seat covering for child seat mounting (because it's different as the standard) is not available any more: https://skoda.7zap.com/en/cz/octavia/oct/2012-663/8/881-881001/#29
  4. I have activated the rear lights as DRL in my own car. I have used VCP (Vag Can Pro) and VAGHelper.
  5. I've found this post as a probably relevant and sad answer to my question:
  6. I think you might have to code the registration plate light with VCDS and/or VCP to get rid of the fault sign.
  7. Hi, I have a factory fitted Swing HU and a bluetooth module. Is it possible at all? If yes, then what do I need? Coding mod and/or hw retrofit?
  8. Well, the constant 1000 rpm for idle is strange. I'm not a map expert, but it is suspicious to me. I have a stock map (completely original, also not updated due to the diesel scandal). Address 01: Engine (J623-CAYC) Labels: 03L-906-023-CAY.clb Part No SW: 03L 906 023 LP HW: 03L 906 023 JH Component: 1,6l R4 CR td H43 8810 Revision: --H43--- Serial number: Coding: 00114016032400080000 Shop #: WSC 73430 031 00064 ASAM Dataset: EV_ECM16TDI02103L906023LP 003005 ROD: EV_ECM16TDI02103L997557.rod VCID: 7F0D65D9E62CEFB9B6-802A No fault code found. Readiness: 0000 0000 My idle rpm is 800 in neutral and 900 when I press the clutch pedal. If the regeneration is on, then the idle rpm is 1000 regardless I press the clutch pedal or not. So I think if you have other idle behavior, than something is not stock.
  9. I also have a 1.6 TDI with CAYC engine. Mine regenerates around every 700km. During regeneration the idle rpm is not 800 as usual but 1000 and the oil temperature can rise above 100°C. Try to check out these regularry to catch a regeneration event if it occures.
  10. I prefer VCP and VAGHelper instead of ODIS. ODIS is not user friendly. This is the method I followed to activate the rear position lights as rear drl: read and save the *.bcm1 file with VCP (also make a safty backup!) load it into VAGHelper modify the corresponding BCM pin(s) with checking check boxes save the modified *.bcm1 file load and save it to the BCM with VCP Here's an example screenshot of the VAGHelper with the preinstalled setup for the OEM rear LED lamps (left position/fog light output is selected for detailed info): (I haven't tried it (the rear led version), maybe Langers2k can confirm whether it is ok or not)
  11. Hello! My wife have noticed, that the rear left tweeter in our (LHD) '12 Octavia with Swing head unit is much quieter than the rear right one. I haven't noticed it until she has pointed it out. So I made a quick test with the balance and fader controls: in deed the RL side has less high tone than the others. However the quality is not noisy or otherwise bad, only the volume is low (loud sounds are ok). What do you think, what may cause the deviation? Is it the tweeter? Or the cabling? Or the head unit itself? Or any combination of them? Beside checking the 4 channels with the fader/balance and the test tone option in VCDS what else can I do to find the root cause?
  12. It turned out that the force limiter function of the windows was left active. A manual reset has solved the issue, now the passanger window has also auto function. This is how to reset the window(s) (quote from the user's manual):
  13. Hi, My 2012 Octvaia (mk2 fl) always had a little issue with the front passanger window: it had wailing noise and sometimes the auto open/close function did not worked, the glas had stuck. A retry (release the window button and the press it again until second click) always helped. I often used the auto open/close function via the remote controller the situation was the same until today. I have several times retried to auto close the window until it had no response to the auto open/close command. It does not reply to the remote controller, neither to the driver's button neither to it's own button. Althoug manual open/close (first click it's own button or driver's button) works. With the remote controller holding down the open button opens the window, but holding the close button do not closes the window. I've runned an autoscan with VCDS but there isn't a single fault code. Do you have any hint or idea why doesn't the auto open/close funtion work and what could be the solution?
  14. Forget the adapters/resistors and reconfigure the BCM instead! It has no sense to use heat resistors to get rid of fail messages, when it also available to set them off via software. You will need a VCP (VagCanPro) interface (others can be also suitable, but not VCDS!) and a little program called VAGHelper. You have to disable the warm diagnostic, and voilá!, no more bulb fail message due to the led drl.

  16. If you want to downgrade from M to F, be aware that F might have a phonebook issue:
  17. It's a generic problem, I also had to change both side drl bulbs because of this exact same issue. If you want to do it in an elegant way, then you switch off the cold diagnosis using VCP and VAG Helper instead of intalling some heating resistors called CAN control unit.
  18. Hello everybody, I'm thinking on a head unit upgrade. Currently I have a 2012 Octavia fl with factory fitted Swing radio and factory fitted-separate bluetooth module. The spec of the RCD330G seems nice, however I'm afraid of the bluetooth phone capabilities. Will they work (the bluetooth in the RCD330G and the separate bluetooth unit) together? I prefer using the separate bluetooth, because I also have the factory fitted mic in the roof and I think it is better than the built in mic in the RCD330G. Will I be able to use the RCD330G as a Skoda Bolero? I mean the phone menu in the RCD330G will control the built in bluetooth module or the separate one if I have both bluetooth. Will I be able to use Mirrorlink? I have a Samsung SM-G361F and I'd like to see Waze on the RCD330G's display.
  19. I only know the Hungarian regulations which should correspond to the EU and probably to the Bosnian regulations. It says, that only one pair of parking/side light may lit on the front of the car. The dimmed DRL is legally used as park/side light, so if it's active, then the regular w5w lights must not work. Based on this I suppose, that it is not possible to activate DRL as park/side light along with the w5w bulbs using VCDS. But there might be an illegal solution: you should try to reconfigure the front park/side light configuration with VAG can pro. I think if you set the w5w bulbs as DRL instead of park/side light, then the will lit along with the led DRL. At least I've done this mod with my rear park/side light, and now they work as DRL.
  20. Bosch is the OEM so I replaced to Bosch when it was time.
  21. OBD2 PID scan or at least decoding the supperted PIDs is not a rocket science. Everything is here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/OBD-II_PIDs Mode 01 0x00, 0x20, 0x40... are the coded PIDs, where the supported PIDs are encoded. Torque is capable to read this via extended PIDs. Example for 0x00 PID: Since the response is 4 byte long, you have to set 4 extended PID. Most significant byte: A (PIDs from x01 to x20) Mode and PID: 0100 Long name: PIDs_Mode1_01_20 (or whatever you want) Short name: PID0120A (or whatever you want) Min value: 0 (Torque will change it 0.0, but don't bother) Max value: 255 (Torque will change it 255.0, but don't bother) Scale: x1 (default) Equation: A (leave the rest as is) The result will be decimal, so you have to convert it to binary/hex. See: binhex.jpg The same extended PID has to be created, the difference is, that the Equation will be B, C and D for the 0x00 PID. For 0x20, 0x40, ... PIDs the method is the same. When you have all the supported PIDs, the most simple way to decode them is this program: https://www.outilsobdfacile.com/obd-mode-pid.php using the PID decoder. Here is my exported csv, if you don't want to bother editing the extended PIDs: supportedPIDs.csv I've also scanned Mode6 PIDs, the result is this in Torque: Mode1_Mode6_PIDs.png And the decoded result: OBD_Mode1.jpg, OBD_Mode6_CAN.jpg Finally if you want to see all your supported PIDs in Torque, you only have to add them one-by-one or via csv (don't forget to equations!, for details see the Wikipedia).
  22. Based on the logs provided from VAG DPF I've started to monitor the oil ash value on my 2012 CAYC Octavia. You may also find this info useful. Since 2017.09 I also use the car in the city (2x12km/day), previously I only used to travel only on highway (180km continuous routes ). I worried about the DPF lifespan and it looks like my concern wasn't irrational if I presume, that the wearing is linear. (The line in the graph is a linear trend-line inserted by Google Spreadsheets)
  23. In VCDS go to the Engine menu's advanced measuring block submenu. Filter on oil ash and oil ash limit. If the oil ash volume is near to the limit, than the DPF is near to it's end.
