  1. Hi Guys I’m currently looking at an estate to replace my non-ULEZ compliant 3 series and have come across the Octavia Scout. I can’t go for the diesel as I live within the proposed expanded ULEZ zone. I’ve found a local tidy 1.8 TSI CDAA engined 2009 / 59 Scout on 65k miles and only when searching did I come across the sticky thread here regarding the 1.8 TSI and how it’s a ticking time bomb for timing chain and piston rings. Is it really a case of just completely avoiding a Gen2 TSI? It seems a shame as the rest of the car seems ideal. Is the timing chain issue resolved completely by replacing the chain and installing the latest available tensioner? The oil consumption issue - are there any tell tale signs that I’d be able to tell if this particular example suffers from it or not? Anything else I should be looking out for on a Mk2 Octy Scout? Cheers Nick
