  1. Hi Ivan, Sorry just noticed your query today. They would not supply range of brands (I asked initially for cost of Brembo, Pagid etc.) as they have one supplier of aftermarket parts (they don't want to have to set up new accounts for different supplier etc. just for me- I think it is fair enough). Their supplier was representative of Ferrodo so I went with this as reading online forums it seemed Ferrodo Premier should be decent. Skoda replacement parts would be more than £200 more than Ferrodo Premier so I kindly declined that
  2. Although by now all know Skoda discs are so poor, I thought will share my experience in old thread. Changed all front and rear at 48500 miles/ 5 years, started to hear grinding noise and some rear pads were shot. Discs look horrendous but amazingly measuring thickness they still had ...in theory (poor surface affects braking efficiency I think)....few mm of life left. Similar most pads had 4-6mm life left but 2 rear pads were destroyed by poor disc surface. I recon could do 100000 miles looking at thickness if not for the poor quality. I was surprised inside of front discs looked much worse then outside. After shopping around (independent garages, kwikfit/National (just to check prices -, one of them quoted £725 for all discs/pads - Delphi), Skoda dealer came much cheaper at £417 for Ferrodo Premier and got my business. Did not fancy to buy myself with garage fit only and do not have fitting warranty in case bought parts would have defects. Dealer told me part of the problem with rear disc poor "cleaning" how he called it could be my engine braking....not convinced...My work pal 1 year old Golf has poor rear discs as well, front looks good.
  3. Hi, just to let you know that I had the same issue on almost 3 year old car. Item replaced recently under warranty without any questions. It seemed the Skoda technican knew about the problem.
  4. Update on the noise issue. The car went to dealership Henrys Skoda and due to the weather it stayed there for a week. First strut top mount was replaced on driver side but it did not cure it. Finally it was identified that the strut is the issue (they swapped the struts and noise went to the other side). New strut fitted and no noise was present today when picking up the car. All work done under warranty. Very good customer service. As a side note we got Octavia hatch 1.6tdi as courtesy car. Much more engine noise then Superb 1.4tsi, quite a bit less space in the cabin, also it was quite squicky having only 10000 miles. But 1.6tdi felt quite nippy with 2 adults and two kids. Also more importently it handled the snow conditions very well on summer tires - on Friday I noticed Superb Estate behind me. Turned uphill on road full of snow and Octavia went easily up to the top of the hill no problem, little wheel spin. Superb got stuck in deep snow at the very beginning and had to reverse back. I smiled that actually Im lucky as if my car would not go for the repair, I would be stuck in my Superb as well Heavier tdi front and overall lighter car likely made the difference, less so the tires.
  5. Hi, When I was researching used Superb purchase, few dealers in Scotland and England said that they can fit front parking sensors but they will not show on infotainment system. Only audible noise will be available from separate speaker. That is one of the reason we went for new car with high discount like broker prices. I hope for you they were wrong.
  6. Hi all, Could not find find thread about front suspenion so here we go. We have March 2017 Superb SE estate 1.4 act estate with normal suspension and noticed noise from the front when turning wheels. It was normally not loud eough to hear it when driving but we live on an incline and when parking/ rolling by gravity, it is clearly noticable. I dont think this noise is present when driving straight. It sounds like friction noise, likely rubber I would say. I mentioned it at 10000 mile service and the service manager confirmed it he hears it to. They thought it comes from the bushes and there is apparently already a Skoda TSB to grease them as a first action. Dealer did not want me to show the TSB.....Im nosy engineer. They did it under warranty but noise did not go away. They said they will need to take the car for few days and investigate it further. Anyone has the same / similar issues with front suspension - Skidpan I think you have similar car version to us? I want to keep the car for say 10 years and it worries me that such problem exist so early on flagship model. Reading some other forums it seems more VAG cars have susprnsion problem but could not find a specific solution.
  7. I'm now at 4500 miles, 1.4tsi ACT 150hp and no engine oil used. I was running in the engine as per other thread so maybe that helped....at least would like to think so.
  8. If you have halogens like me in SE, page 67 of the manual states it can be adjusted in infotainment - menu car - settings - light - headlight range control. P.S. Did not tried it yet.
  9. I have 1.4TSI ACT manual in SE estate version and although I did only 800 miles so far so still running it in, I have to say I'm surprised how nippy and quick this car is. Part of that might be that my previous car was Renault Megane 1.5dci which was only 11.4s to 60mph so now at 8.7s to 60mph the difference is very noticeable (word quick referring to a car is very relative). I still have to run it with fully loaded boot, but 2 adults, 2 kids in child seats and bikes/luggage in boot, the car moves quickly for me. You can get a good pull from 1800-2000 rpm, and being a petrol you can feel it moving when going all the way to 4000-5000rpm. Obviously at 60/70mph, and being in 6th gear, the acceleration is rather slowish, but drop it to 5th (or 4th) and it is ok. Also for time being there is no problem cruising in 6th on motorways and going up the hill - although that being lightly loaded for time being. I usually use cruise control set at 74mph so can't comment how it drives regularly at higher speeds - I would tend to agree that it might be not the best for people driving at much higher speeds - it is 1.4TSI after all. The only worry I have with this engine will be oil consumption (none to date) and the potential problem with carbon deposits on valves after long mileage (as it is direct injection engine) - let's wait and see. Thankfully no dpf worries for us - as we make number of short trips. As a side note I test drove the 2.0 TSI 220hp estate before buying this car and 1.4TSi felt noticeably slower (maybe also because it had only 39 miles on the clock - my car definetely feels quicker) but in terms of performance, having drove my car now for two weeks, it is more than enough for me. Still running it in so long term fuel efficiency is at around 39mpg. Hopefully this will improve. So thumbs up for the 1.4TSI from sensibly driving family man.
  10. I have SE version collected in March 2017 and I have steel spare wheel 16 inch 205/55/r16 on car with 215/55/r17 wheels, with no variable boot floor. So it seems even the steel wheel is not full size in smaller rim size so you know. The online configurator showed I needed variable floor but when speaking with dealer at order time he advised there is no need for it. I was told if you want variable boot floor, then you need space saver wheel, otherwise not. There is an old thread about spare wheel sizes if you will look for it.
  11. Hi, We are considering the 2.0 TSI 220 Superb Estate and I wonder if you would be kind to advise: 1. I read about 2.0 TSI engine failures, including on Octavia thread but it seems this was relating to 200hp engine. Any worries/ failures you know with 220hp version although there are probably not many cars with high mileage to demonstrate any of these. We plan to keep the car for 10 years so it will do probably 120-140000 miles. 2. Similar to item 1 regarding oil consumption - what is your experience? Many thanks in advace
