  1. Hi all. I am looking at buy a Skoda Fabia hatchback : Ad says with 87500 miles. Just out of MOT test, boot does not open and EPC light on the dashboard. Please can anyone advise if either of the above problems are major/expensive to fix? Thanks in advance for advice/help.
  2. It was coming from the right hand side of the engine under the cover. I could smell diesel, popped off the cover and could see steam coming from where the RHS injector is. Its strange because my mechanic took it for a long drive and brought it back but didn't notice anything. I have done a bit of research as I have little knowledge of cars and just like the dpf the egr is an emission part to keep emissions low? Apparently they get clogged easy when not used alot on motorways? EGR fault clogged with carbon as its been parked up a while? I may be totally wrong here. Has anyone had similar problems with this same engine?
  3. Hi all. I'm still having issues with my mk2 skoda after all the warning light issues. They are now thankfully resolved thanks for everyone's advice and help with this. The issue I am facing now is similar to before but not as bad. I started the engine last Saturday, it wouldn't start so I used jump leads then it started. I took it for a long drive not on the motorway but a straight road utilising all the gears and driving at 60mph+. When I brought it back I noticed steam coming from the RHS of the engine bay, I popped the hood and took of the cover however couldn't see any diesel leakage or any fuel flooding the engine bay. However I did notice that the engine when idle was making a 'grunt, grunt, normal' sound on a loop. I don't know if that's normal so I took it to my mechanic who took it for a long drive and had it on the ramp idle for 1.5 hours and didn't notice anything. I know of a VW specialist in my area who is fully booked until new years. I am trying to sell the car and having interest in it but I'm wanting to sort it out before selling it to anyone and have made potential sellers aware of all the issues before they come to view it. Any help/advice is much appreciated. Thanks
  4. Hi. I've replaced the brown sensor which is not accessible easily. I am still getting a yellow light on the dashboard. I attach pictures. Where does the black plug sensor go? Do i need to replace the orange sensor? There are two slots. My mechanic has said the diagram showing the DPF doesn't correlate with my engine? Any help or suggestions are much appreciated. Thanks
  5. Brilliant thanks. If I take that part number you mentioned to my parts place they should be able to order it? So the brown plug leads to the one I need to replace? Did you diagnose the issue yourself before fixing it? Thanks
  6. Hi. I am having difficulty describing the sensor required to the parts place I usually get my parts from. They are saying there are three sensors, two by the DPF and one by the turbo. Now the one I have replaced pics earlier in the thread was the wrong one according to the autoelectrician. Does this brown plug number 3 sensor before the DPF replace this orange end one or go alongside it? I am asking as the parts place have my reg number and are saying the part I need is the exhaust gas temperature sensor. The autoelectrician says its the DPF temperature sensor. He says its very similar to the exhaust gas temperature sensor. If I put the part number in ebay as advised in previous posts something totally different to the above comes up. I am out of my depth here I know, I just want the right part so I know I have corrected all issues before selling it on. Thanks for your help everyone.
  7. Thanks everyone. I'm just confused with the brown/black end of the sensor. The before DPF sensor 3 is that the above or the black end as mentioned in an earlier post?
  8. I've had a look on eBay, this is a brown end one fitting the description the autoelectrician gave me.
  9. With regards to the original sensor problem, I had an autoelectrician look at it and bring up the codes on his computer. Apparently it's the number 3 sensor DPF temperature sensor that is very similar to the sensor no4 that I have replaced in error. Its before the DPF. I can't find it on ebay and the parts place I have asked I'm apprehensive about as its £80. If anyone knows what it llooks like that would be great, he said u need it on the ramp it's a two pronged sensor. I'm wondering if it's the one already posted on this thread? Any help or advice is really appreciated. Thanks
  10. Thanks for your replies. Yes it seems that I'm having the same problems when I first bought the car. Having said that, my mechanic has replaced the injector no4 seals and taken it for a long drive, seems OK now. Would a good fuel injection specialist be hard to find? Would a generic one that can sort all cars out be suitable? Thanks
  11. Right thanks. The engine bay is flooded with diesel like it was before too. Is this an injector problem?
  12. Hi all. Still having issues with my injectors and fuel return pipe. I bought the car back from insurance and had the bootlid and bumper replaced. I've replaced the fuel return pipe and battery today. If anyone has and advice on what I should do please? I have put it on sale but obviously I will not be selling it in the condition its in as I drive it today and had smoke coming from under the bonnet after replacing the fuel return pipe. It's had three injectors replaced from scrap yard and seems to be having the same problems when I first bought it. Thanks in advance.
  13. Hi all. Thanks for your advice and messages. The car was involved in an accident, I have now had it fixed. The warning lights are the same, would it be better you think to replace the sensor with the right one as per above advice and see if it corrects the issue or ask an autoelectrician? On a side note what's the best way to get the diesel out of the tank please? I don't want mes around with the diesel filter and get it our from there. On that note the return pipe came loose and diesel was leaking. The guy who fixed the bodywork out the return pipe back on and now I'm not sure what to do I replace the return pipe with a dealership one or? I have had a look on the forum and I have seen posts that mention injector seals? Thanks for your help
  14. So if I am right, I will not know what part I need without removing the one that needs replacing? The scrapyard I have been to have given me the correct part but the garage across from me have said it has the wrong connector on it? I'm assuming the connector is specific to the car as has been advised above? Thanks for your help.
  15. Right thanks. Car wouldn't move this morning so now an injector needs putting in too. Apparently shouldn't happen in lower mileage cars.
  16. Thanks for your help everyone. Do I need a connector on this then? Or a whole new bit? My mechanic has advised to return this and when I go to the scrapyard have him give them a call.
  17. Good morning all. I was given the wrong sensor by the scrapyard I went to, apparently the sensor has a right angle bend so my mechanic says. So I've been on ebay this one is for a CAYA engine code. Mine is CAYC. Anyone know if it will fit please? Many thanks.
  18. Picked one up for £10 from my local scrapyard. Is it a straightforward fix? Thanks
