  1. Hello all,

I'm coming up to my second service with a 66 plate Octovia.  The first service I had was with Skoda themselves. The car has only done 10k miles.  Do I need to spend the £249 that Skoda charge for a second service or will a service with a third party do?  If so, is there one you would recommend?  Would this affect the FSH?

Thanks very much for your help.

    Tim

  2. This is all very helpful - many thanks.

It seems very reasonable that for a completely non-fault claim you should receive the money that enables you to buy back like for like.  I'm fully happy to go through all the hassle and effort, that's no problem at all - I just don't want to lose out financially.

As I say, all input above is much appreciated.

  3. Thank you both - appreciate it.  Didn't take out gap insurance, which with the benefit of hindsight was foolish.

Will let you know how it all gets resolved, and what the cost I have to cover to get a comparable car in the hope it prevents other people being hit in the pocket with the same situation.

  4. Hello all,

I bought a pre-reg 1.4 SE Sport estate in January.  Hands down the best car I have ever owned.

Yesterday, someone smashed into it while it was parked and has almost certainly written it off.  A car we hoped to have for 10 years ends up lasting 3 months.

Because it is pre-registered, the insurance company won't replace it with a new car - they will only pay out on their valuation of the worth of car.  So it will hit us in the pocket unfortunately.  But I would also be very keen to replace it with the same car even if we have to pay a little extra.  Does anyone know where you can find a 1.4 SE Sport?  Are there any left to buy?

    Thanks for your help.

  5. Picked up my SE Sport yesterday, put about 200 miles on the clock and have to say what a truly superb car.   Had to be pretty light with my right foot as the 1.4tsi engine is lively.  The amundsen system is very easy to use, works well with the buttons on the steering wheel.  Very comfortable ride, nice sport seats.  Delighted with it.

Would heartily recommend this car to anyone.

  6. Hi Tim, I think you will enjoy the TSI once you have put up a few miles - I was pleasantly surprised by the way my estate pulled once the turbo goes on boost, which starts at just over 1200 RPM. Feels pretty much like an old-school 6 cylinder engine.

Hi Warrior, am interested to see that.  Keen to run it in and then get a feel for what impact the turbo has.  Sounds like pretty low revs before it kicks in.    I read great things about the 1.4tsi engine, will let you know my thoughts once i've put a few miles on the clock first.

  7. Hello all,

First time joining a forum like this, so nice to 'meet you all'.   First time buying a new car - just bought a Octavia se sport 1.4tsi which I pick up on Saturday, so excited about that.

Forums like this are a fantastic idea, great to know there are people out there who can offer advice and help.  Will also share experiences in the hope they bring value.

    Cheers!
