  1. Think thats what I needed. Opened window in freezing temperatures and then it wouldn't close. Keep re-opening as though fingers were trapped in it.
  2. Driving on the M6 today car suddenly said front assist sensor is not working and acc stopped working. Normally only happens in snow. Cruise control wouldn't work at all. No Front Assist, Lane Assist or Side Assist. Pulled into the next services and cleaned all the sensors although they seemed fine. Front Assist and Lane Assist working again after switching it off and on again. Side Assist still can't be ticked in Maxi-dot or central screen. Seem to have another option for blind spot monitoring which is ticked but the orange warning lights on the mirrors have stopped working. Superb L&K Estate with factory fitted towbar
  3. I use one of these to charge my mobility scooter in the boot while on the go. Don't use it while parked as it drains the battery. https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/aw/d/B00INW611Y?psc=1&ref=yo_pop_mb_pd_title Been using for over a year no problems.
  4. Would that work with a euro 6 smart alternator that shut down to trickle charge once the main battery is around 80% and increase considerably under engine braking? Think the latest T6 has something like this.... https://www.rayneautomotive.co.uk/home/141-vw-t6-smart-alternator-dc-dc-split-charging-system.html I am considering this for exactly the same purpose if I can figure it all out. Local dash cam shops have all just seen £££ and are not really interested in getting it right.
  5. If that were an issue they would have to put a warning against using using dashcam in public spaces. Which would destroy the market instantly. And most police forces in UK are happy to receive video footage of people driving like complete morons. They couldn't use it if it wasn't legal.
  6. Let us know if you do this as I was interested in the same set up, and leave my car for many days without use. Have factory fitted towbar so should already have updated alternator and battery.
  7. Looking for additional ways to secure my car. Was wondering if anyone had fitted a simple inline switch to the live feed of the fuel pump, starter or similar?
  8. My 220 petrol estate has done 12k miles at an average of 33.5mpg, but is nearly always over 90% green score. Probably average 50 mph. So car doesn't seem very efficient even using eco on the motorway, and green score is a pile of horse manure.
  9. SIM card slot was an option on my June 17 built L&K with Columbus/Canton system. Skoda Connect would work via WiFi hotspot on Phone, but was very unreliable and screen would get very hot if using Nav. Costly after 1st year particularly as it hadn't worked correctly for most of it. Android Auto would work using cable providing most of the information on the move functionality and is free. Use Waze in built up areas and Google maps in remote areas. Tracker isn't a security feature as it can easily be switched off by changing privacy settings.
  10. Longest single day drive is probably Ayr to Redbridge (Essex) via Leeds the day I picked up the car. Regularly drive London to Liverpool and back in a day though. Back in late 90's we thought it would be a good idea to drive London to Moscow in a 3 car convoy 1978 to 1981 mini's only stopping on the ferry to Belgium and for long enough to swap drivers and take pictures of the cars by the sign for the arctic circle. No sat nav back then so we probably drove far further than necessary.
  11. I have been looking at dual camera setup and a tracker. Blackvue 900s were suggested and a tracker with SIM. I asked someone in a well know car chain how to connect up cameras to cloud, he said using phone. I asked how do I get alerts? On the phone. So I leave my phone in the car to be stolen so the thief can get a confirmation message that they have successfully stolen car and as a bonus got a new smartphone. So how have you achieved permanent WiFi connection?
  12. Any idea where the connection is? DAB on my 2017 L&K Estate is pretty poor, dealer told my it was part of the shark fin. I do have Canton system & Phonebox so don't know if that makes a difference.
  13. £63 for infotainment package and £53 for Care package, annually. Took Skoda 9 months to get Connect working properly in my car so by the time they did they wanted more money. Nothing in the Infotainment package I would pay that price for, or that I couldn't get from Android Auto like Waze or Google maps traffic far more upto date. The vehicle tracking, online alarm alert, parking etc. Would be good for piece of mind but was told by Skoda it is not insurance approved. Probably because you can get in the car and switch on privacy mode and disable everything.
  14. Exactly my point, maybe because like you I have paddles. On inclines, loose or slippery surfaces the computer can get it wrong. Suppose depends if you are just driving off a drive and then want to pull away, or on a constant longer surface like above or a muddy field where maybe you want to hold on to 2nd.
