Fabia 1.6tdi - Cambelt change- Prices ?
I have a 2010 Fabia Hatch (manual) with slightly under 125k on the clock, I changed the cambelt at 60,000 about 7 years ago, so as far as i can see i am about at the time i need to change it again. Can someone tell me what i am looking at for the work to be done, i assume its best to change the water pump and all the other associated '' gubbins ''. So what am i looking at ? I have maintained this car perfectly over the years, i have owned it since nearly new, and the whole exhaust system was replaced from the headers to the tail about 18 months ago (the other one rusted to near nothing). It looks like it has done 30k not the miles it has. I will be changing it in the next few years, but do still really like it so need it to not go .......' boom' before then. What do you think.... can i risk it for another 2 years or replace the cambelt as i feel i need too ?

DSG for 1.0 tsi Estate ?
Thanks for the replies, i would not remap any petrol Fabia i got, it would be the 110 bhp and i would leave it at that. I will test drive one but i won't be able to test drive it with 4 adults in it and a boot full of gear which is how we will go on holiday, i do want an auto as i am sick and tired of the clutch in stop start traffic, which is all there appears to be nowadays.

DSG for 1.0 tsi Estate ?
I currently have a 2010 1.6TDI Fabia Hatch, its done 122,000 miles and i have owned it from close to new, i love it, i have had it remapped and its on about 150bhp at the moment, its a manual. I am looking for something slightly bigger for going on holiday in the uk, we will still be keeping the Fabia (my wife will be having it) as its just too good a car to px and lets face it, it would not be worth much anyway even though i have really looked after it. My question is this, what is it like to drive (with a full car of 4 x adults and luggage) with a DSG box with say the 1.2tsi or the 1.0tsi in the Estate form ? i am looking at about a 2017 model so i can get the cheap RFL. Any experience much appreciated. If its a no no, then my 2nd option is a 2.0tdi Octavia estate dsg of about the same age in either the SEL or L&K spec.

Best Wipers
I will give that a go, they are leaving lines on the screen when they sweep away the water, i have checked them already and there is nothing on them.
-
Broken front springs.
Mine went on my 2010 car about 2 years ago, its an age thing i think rather than a mileage thing, they just rot.
-
Best Wipers
An odd topic i guess, i have some Bosch wipers at the front which were fitted when i had a new screen put in due to a crack..... they are rubbish, can anyone give a link to wipers that are meant for a 2010 Fabia, front and rear. Thanks

Hi I am about to buy a 1.6 tdi CR 105. 2012 plate.
I do hear of a lot of negative feeback on the 1.6 TDI, but i have a 2010 model with 101k on the clock and have owned it from a few years old, it has been a great car, a few things have gone wrong and i have fixed them, nothing too major and i have serviced it every year....... it does what i want it to do and is reliable. Maybe i have been lucky, not too sure, its not a cat N or anything else, i have NOT had the fix done. I like it, and intend to keep it many more years until 2030 when i will buy the best petrol car i can and keep that until i don't need to drive again.

Is Canton really that bad?
I would love to see a decent after makret system fitted and how it was achieved, either in the Mk3 or the newer model,
- Fabia Mark 2 Monte Carlo: 1.6 tdi or 1.2 tsi

Rust around license plate light
But won't the used one likely have the very same issue ?? Its down to build quality and a poor design by Skoda.... they will all be the same, i would say it is best to totally make the one you have good and then repaint, but using a better gasket which does not hold the moisture.... worrying that the Mk3 has the same issue, do manufacturers never learn.

Roof Box - Maximum Size
Agree, i was looking for a member who may have looked at this problem before they purchased and have already got the biggest box already, i was looking at getting a Thule one as the build quality seems to be there, but the Ocean 80 looks a tad small.
-
1.6 cr reliability.
Just to add to my post above..... i have NOT had the fix done..... this may add to why i have had zero major issues and just the usual little things go wrong.

Fabia Mark 2 Monte Carlo: 1.6 tdi or 1.2 tsi
I can only speak for the 1.6TDI, I have recently had it remapped....... it is amazing now, but then again it was the 75bhp version ! So anything is an improvement, I am getting around the 145bhp with around another 60 torques. It is simply safer for me to exit junctions and enter motorway slip roads. I would thing it depends on the kind of driving you do and if you need the fuel consumption.

Roof Box - Maximum Size
Good Morning All, I have managed to source myself a set of genuine Skoda roofs bars for my 2010 Fabia Hatchback..... can anyone tell me what the max size of box i can go for which will not overhang the front and allow the tailgate to open unhindered ??? Thanks

Best Bulbs
Most certainly not Xenon so i thin Halogen.
-
Best Bulbs
I still have the standard bulbs in my 2010 1.6TDI so am after something a lot better, i am not after changing any electrics, adding a generator, fitting a nuclear power-pack..... just the best bulbs i can get to fit in where the old ones will be taken out. Thanks

Welcome new vrs 😍
That looks very nice indeed, it stands out for all the right reasons.

Roof Bars - Which other Skoda's will fit the Fabia ?
Spotted them but i only need them around September so i think i can afford to wait a bit to see if something comes up near to my location or they will post.

1.6 cr reliability.
Had my 2010 Hatchback since virtually new..... no issues, i have it serviced every 12 months, what ever the mileage, just about to have it re-mapped as it's the 75bhp version !!! So that will double the power in an instant..... should be fun. I understand they get a bad press but i can only speak for myself and it is simply the best car i have had to date, it costs buttons to run and has caused me no serious issues. I had been looking to change it due to ..... i don't really know why !!! So have decided to keep it for a while longer, it runs and gets me to work and on holiday, what more do i need. If i did change it then i am now looking at a similar sized car - VW Polo GTI +

Roof Bars - Which other Skoda's will fit the Fabia ?
Are there any other models out there where the roof bars for that model with fit a 2010 Hatchback ?? I am looking at a used pair but having more choice will help. Thanks
-
Will these roof bars fit ?
Just investigated the ' holes ' on my car..... i am missing one so no it will not fit...... the mk 2 only has one and the mk3 has 2 so no go. I wonder if the new Polo has the same roof bar configuration as the Fabia.
-
Will these roof bars fit ?
Will a set of roof bars for a 2016 hatchback fit a 2010 model ? The instructions have a code of LAT 410 001. The door frame of the 2016 car has two holes on the underside but i cannot see that on my 2010 so i suspect they are not meant to fit. Thanks

1.5 TSI for Mk4 possibility?
Agree, it is such a shame as a 2.0 engine in a Fabia sized body with DSG would be my ideal, i understand they will be bringing it back later in the year.
-
Skoda Fabia MKIV 2021
The exterior is not too much of a concern, i like subtle..... its the engine i like, i want a small car with a decent amount of push, and it looks very likely that it's not to come from Skoda.
-
1.5 TSI for Mk4 possibility?
I agree with all the above, i would like something bigger than a 1.0, i fear i may have to go over to the Polo and opt for the 2.0gti, i cannot ever see Skoda giving anything that good to the Fabia.
