We changed our Superb for a Passat GT estate dsg and so far are very pleased with it.
It is , not surprisingly, very similar to the Superp. Some things are better...full size spare alloy, panoramic roof, digital cockpit, all come as standard, but a lot of the clever little things on the Skoda are missing...brolly, ice scraper, torch in boot etc. The Skoda also had more storage in the cabin, but having said that the lease I've taken out both are similarly priced so for me the VW represents better value.

Passat also comes with a real full size matching Alloy spare wheel/tyre.
Yes that's true, it's got a few things that we think are better than the Superb.... digital dash is standard on the gt as is a full glass roof......however not that keen on the look of the alloys.....positives and negatives!!!!!

Our Superb lease comes to an end on 9th March, and had ordered a Karoq. A build date delay led to me cancelling the order and have now ordered a VW Passat GT 1.5 petrol dsg. It will be here in a week or so hopefully.
I suspect that it won't be that different from the Superb though.

A fine car albeit a good bit longer. Prob also heavier. Is it a 1•6 diesel (do they do one in the Passat) you may find it under powered v the Karoq.
Carwow extreamly good at sourcing new or demo. cars for immediate delivery.
Not a diesel, it's the newish 1.5 petrol tsi evo 150bhp.
It will take a bit of getting used to. It's my first ever automatic car too.

Having ordered our new Karoq 1.6 diesel SE Tech in mid October for delivery late February or early March, I was very disappointed to eventually be given a build date of week commencing 11th March. We've heard many tales of this type but we are off on a road trip to Italy, Austria and Germany in a few weeks, and have sadly decided to cancel our order for a few reasons.
We were told we could extend our current pch, but are already at the limit of our mileage allowance and didn't think it wise to put up to 6,000 excess miles on our current car.
Our dealership have been excellent, and even offered to lend us a car to go to Italy in, in case our Karoq didn't arrive in time. I must confess though to being a little nervous about doing that trip in a loan car, for lots of reasons (Italian drivers, insurance difficulties, paperwork problems etc), so decided to cancel the order.
We then set about finding a "stock car" to get on a pch for immediate delivery. Eventually got a VW Passat estate thats already built and on it's way to the Uk. Not quite a Skoda but pretty similar to our current Superb.
Hope we like it as much !!!!!
Hats off to Derek Slack motors in Middlesbrough though, they tried to help as much as possible.

Ordered my Karoq 1.6d se tech dsg ( plus heated screen and spare wheel) at end of October 2018 and have just been given build date of week starting11th March 2019 with dealer saying delivery approx early April...heres hoping.

The price we've been quoted is £15200, and I've seen cars with the same mileage for sale at around £16000 so I'm assuming with discount etc would end up being around the same price. I can't however find any info on auction prices for Superbs recently.
-
My PCH comes to n end in about 6 weeks, and my daughter and her fella are considering buying my car from Skoda finance.
We have a provisional price that is similar to retail price. Does anyone have any experience of this process, how negotiable is the price if at all , or is it better to trace the car and go to auction and try to get it cheaper. I've heard tales of ghost bidding (to increase the price) when members of public bid though.
Any thoughts or advice would be greatly appreciated

Drove Teesside to Sorrento in Italy last September with stops in Germany and Italy. Dont know about crow flies distance, but clocked up 4400 miles for the whole trip. Doing it again next may but Superb will have gone back by then. Doubt it will be in a Superb next time....Passat more likely!!!...controversial.

I do believe that 70+mpg on UK motorways with a 1.6tdi is very achievable, It is something I have experienced myself in a UK hire car last year although not a Skoda.
The 100mph/65mpg claim is missing a vital contributory factor or two. I can ride my bicycle at 80kph for 3km, different story in the other direction though, so you can guess what I have failed to mention
The other claim of regularly getting 55mpg on max 2 mile journeys with a DPF equipped vehicle? Let's just say that most don't and many diesel owners doing regular short distances are now turning to small petrol engines even though petrol engines do not give particularly good economy over short distances from a cold start (personal experience).
People who are not Briskoda members read these pages to get an idea of what they can expect from a potential purchase and may not realise that (in this case) a professional driver has presented some 'cherry picked' examples that may be beyond their capabilities to achieve in their more general circumstances.
A while back there was a 2.0d Superb owner achieving even better results, but by his own admission he was putting some effort into meeting a particular personal challenge and once that was done it was a relief to get back to more sustainable concentration levels.
Similar with a Citigo owner who got 600 miles from a tank (37 litre refill if my memory serves me)
I did not doubt the veracity of these exceptionally good results but I did appreciate the context in which they were presented.
I have achieved some satisfyingly good consumption figures in my 1.4tsi Octavia for various individual journeys, far better than official figures and like a problem gambler I only mention my winnings and gloss over my losses. Reality is reflected in my signature's Fuelly average of 46 mpg, which I think is reasonable for the type of driving environment it spends most of its time, but someone with a heavier right foot on accelerator and brake would not get as good figures.
Ok then.. a couple of issues to address here.
It is inferred here that the 70 mile stretch was downhill......no it was a very flat stretch of road.... (trust me .. I know what flat roads look like) almost deserted very early on a Sunday morning when trucks aren't allowed on the roads in Germany. I didn't have to touch the pedals once. My post did say that those conditions were rare, but provide an example of how economical the car could be in those circumstances.
As for your knowledge of why non briskoda members read these pages.... I'm impressed, but surely they can make a more informed choice with as much input from skoda owners as is possible.
As for my "claim" of getting 55mpg around town etc on short journeys, all I can tell you is what the cars computer tells me.
As for being a professional driver, and by presenting "cherry picked examples" you almost make it sound like I'm cheating. In actual fact it just indicates what I personaly get from my car on certain journeys as you yourself said....." personal experience"
Being a professional driver doesn't give me any advantages in any way, it just shapes the way I drive. How you drive your car is personal choice, I just happen to drive my car like I drive a 44 ton chemical tanker....gently.
As I also said in my previous post .... I take it all as an "ish" anyway.
Whinge over....and breathe....and relax.

Those are quite remarkable figures. Have you confirmed the OBC accuracy during refills?
I can't say that I'm overly concerned if the figures on the cars computer are out by a few mpg.....
I have much bigger things in life to worry about... but its a good indication that the car is pretty economical.
I'm an hgv chemical tanker driver so tend to be used to driving fairly gently (or the bloody things tip over) so I would imagine that may help improve the figures to a certain degree.
I tend to take the figures as an "ish" anyway.

I have a 1.6 greenline diesel....and around town ,to and from work etc usually 2 miles max at a time and I average (according to the trip computer) 55mpg. Howevet on a good long run on a motorway ...cruise control on ...and I can average 70 mpg sometimes more. The onboard computer works out that we can get up towards 900 miles to a tank of diesel (Tescos regular diesel) In fact on a trip to Italy last year on a German autobahn we averaged 65mpg doing a 70mile stretch at 100mph. Ok I admit that it is rare to get a 70 mile stretch where you dont have to slow down at all etc but a reduction in horsepower can pay off when it comes to fuel economy. A 1.6 greenline wont be the most powerful car I've ever driven but it suits me.

When i first passed my driving test in the late seventies I had a test drive in a Moskvitch. Never will I ever complain about any car after that. It was a total bag of sh** e. Im no snob..... but I just couldn't buy it. Simply horrific. (Sorry to anyone who may have owned one)

Ah.... another of the chosen lands. You must feel truly blessed my friend.
Middlesbrough has now been returned to North Yorkshire, and so it is written, that the Smoggies are doubly blessed . And, there was peace throughout the land....forsooth.

We are also currently in Germany and had a good blast of 100mph on the A7 motorway. Felt rock solid but not sure I'd want to go much faster than that

Is 65mpg at a steady 100mph actually possible?
I would have said that myself but with cruise control set at 160kmh it returned 64.8 over a distance of almost 30 miles where i didnt have to slow down for anything. Not the most accurate reading I admit ie starting from a point where i was already doing 160 kmh and a nice flat straight stretch but I was still surprised at the reading. More surprising to me was how stable and safe the car felt at those speeds.

Update from the hols..... Have today left Italy and driven over the alps , through Austria and into Germany and are now near Nordlingen in Bavaria. I have discovered that the 1.6 greenline is much better if driven hard up hills and it just needs a lot more revs than you might expect. It managed the long trip up the alps fairly well considering it was loaded to the brim with lots of wine ,olive oil etc etc etc. However we have discovered what a good motorway cruiser it is today. On the way down to Italy we were on the autobahns of Germany but couldn't move for road works... horrendous journey. Today coming back a different route we had a 100 mile stretch without speed limits and hardly any traffic. A steady 100mph and still managing about 65mpg. I've never felt comfortable doing those speeds in a car before but this is a different beast altogether. Definitely a car for the motorways and economical too. Well impressed. Weve got the last 600 mile leg on Sunday up to europort, and with no trucks on the autobahns on a weekend....I cant wait.

Music to my ears Bud. Your ancestors must have hailed from Teesside.

Any you guys still seeing brand and badge snobbery. When people ask me what my new car is , they often look for me to apologise and say " I know its a Skoda but its got big wheels and tech coming out its tits".
F-all apologies , the best car I have driven. Better than my 2013 3 series.
To be fair most people have reacted favourably when told of the Skodas arrival....... but I do live on Teesside.
Straight talking folk up here.

Never any power issues for hills in my 2.0tdi 150..
Was the car fully loaded ? did you have it in sport mode? did you put your foot to the floor?
Its not really a power issue, just more of an observation. The car was extremely well loaded on the way here but is now empty apart from myself and my wife. In sport mode. Its ok if you start the incline with high revs but if not... forget it. Its probably no big surprise with such a big car with a 1.6 engine.

We're on holiday in Italy at the moment from the UK. The car is going very well indeed, but I'm finding that a 1.6 greenline just doesn't like some of the steep (ish) hills in Umbria. I'm having to drop down to 1st gear for some of them when I wouldn't have expected to have to have done so. But hey, the economy makes up for it, but may go for 2.0 next time.....18 mths left on lease and would certainly have another one.
How are any 2.0 150hp drivers finding theirs are on hills?? Would be interested to know.

Another 460 miles done today Only 68 mpg. Where have i gone wrong.
Definately a car for the motorways.
What would owners replace their superb with?
in Skoda Superb Mk III (2015 - 2023)

How does the road noise compare (considering the tire profiles you had and have) ?
Our Superb had 17 inch alloys and the Passat has 18 inch. I must say that I cant tell much difference between the two regarding road noise. The Passat is much quieter at low speeds being a petrol (superb was diesel).
