Rear caliper sticking to disc
TTJD replied to stjerneblaa's topic in Skoda Octavia Mk II (2004 - 2013)
Hi, I have had the same problem in the past , my car 07 Octavia 1.9 DSG 600+ k now the issue your have is one of the following Bad brake hose : a bad hose will alow flow in one direction but act as valve on the return causing the pressure to remain on the pads : simply replaced the brake hose and then re-bleed If you have changed the caliper and know it is OK, well the only other issue would the correct adjustment on the rear brake cable - bear in mind that there is a very fine balance involved ,a little too much and the caliper will always stick it is highly unlikely that the ABS is faulty - the ecu would throw up a fault if it was -
Cheers!

Hi matt , cheers for your reply , very much appreciated ,I would very interested to hear how you progress your project , please do keep me informed, there will always be something I do not know and love hearing other peoples idea's, with that thought in mind , please find below some mods I did do which yielded excellent results: be care-full you could blow a motor if you rev to too hard On a previous car Octavia 1.9TDI BXE DSG 2007 mileage 500 KM+ ex Taxi Last recorded top end speed 200KPH, before it was retired , went like a cat on fire I did the following : 1. Removed the catalytic converter and had the chamber welded up in such a way that the weld is not visible, I personally do not believe that CO2 emissions would be increased, this has allowed for much smother and faster acceleration also removed : the internal baffles in the rear muffler 2. blank off ERG valve - to avoid limp mode just hook up another, erg valve- unit, so that the ECU gets the correct vacuum reading- this should fool the ECU 3. Make additional holes in the air box , the back / rear of it approx 35 - 50mm each, two or three off them- do not run the car with the standard filter - it is capable of supplying sufficient airflow for mods up to 200BHP +- this is a cheap alternative to a air induction kit , and it worked very for me. 4. Remove the body which holds the MAS- Mass Air Sensor and remove the internal screen - this allows for a much faster air flow before you do this be careful :You must remove the sensor before you hollow out the unit - replace sensor and reinstall the unit Note : the injectors in a DSG / Auto are , as standard, the next size up from an engine with a manual gearbox- just some thing to think about Hope the above is of some use, like I said , I did , tried it and it yielded good results, I would certainly recommend you address the exhaust Cat while you are changing the turbo unit Cheers TJD

How To: Replace Fuel Pump with performance Pump
TTJD replied to Bowders1's topic in Skoda Octavia Guides
Very good tutorial on pump change I am wondering why did you change from a 3 bar to a 5 bar , what was the advantage - did you notice any difference in performance Cheers -
Changing the fuel pump is a very easy DIY Job , look up workshop manuals and have a look whole job takes about 15 mins no need to replace the seal reuse it , but make sure you have plenty of rags handy to soak with any spillage parts need = one complete pump secondhand around £50 from breakers maybe less if you haggle - welcome to the world of DIY

Cheers for your photos - I always wondered how the panels could removed without some form of damage ;-)
