  1. @neilsupermac I'm not sure if this helps you in anyway, possibly as a guide maybe? I opted for a flexible service plan when I got my car expecting to do 15k per year, due to a slight change in circumstance I'm only doing 12k per year but never-the-less my service notification popped up at approx. 18k, this was for the 1st Oil Service. I noticed that the 'Service' was also due 1,500 miles later so asked my dealer if they could do both at the same time. The car went in, service mileage reset (18k) and they charged me £170 all in. I didn't know if this info would help in your negotiations with the dealer, sorry I'm a little late in responding. Terry
  2. Most of my driving is my commute to/from work, approx. 25 miles each way. It's a mix of motorway, 50mph A roads and some town driving. I quickly realised that the cars computer is optimistic and therefore got into a habit of measuring my average mpg after every tank fill... sadly it's an habit I can't now break Anyway, after almost 2yrs and 24k my lowest average on a tank has been 44.58mpg and my best has been 54.65mpg. OMG I feel so embarrassed admitting this...... the fact I've actually kept a record. On single runs I've seen mid 60's but I've also seen it drop into the 30's with a lot of 'around town' driving. I should add that I rarely use stop/start. And according to my wife I drive like a granddad (most of the time...). Terry PS Mine is the 150bhp
  3. @JollySimon I've not been around for a while so just playing catch up. Had to comment on the photos you've posted, as other have said, the car looks stunning and I love the way you've used the light..... I assume the photos were taken RAW and you've done a little post processing? Either way, lovely result, beautiful photos....
  4. @Ecalpemosgreen Welcome. I agree with Penguin17, looks very classy in that colour. @Tonykits Welcome. Love the blue exterior / cream interior combination.... in truth, I'm simply not brave enough to go for a cream interior.!
  5. Good advice from @BriskodaJeff it's how I eventually found the right position. The guide provided by @Rainmaker is also very good and worth a read...
  6. You haven't said which model of Superb you've got but... I've got an SE Tech with the Alcantara/Leather seats, electric and fully adjustable on the drivers side. It took me over 12 months to get it right but my problem was quite specific, it was the lumbar support. The passenger seat (which isn't electric) is perfect. Even now I feel the lumber support is a little too hard but any less and it causes discomfort elsewhere... For the first 12 months I would be squirming and moving around in the seat after as little as a 20 minute drive. I'm not sure if the lumbar support has softened a little, I've got more used to it, I've found a compromise, or a combination of all three? Whilst I still feel that the lumbar support is a little too hard, I can say in all truth that even after a 3 - 4hr drive I no longer have any back ache or discomfort when I get out of the car. Persevere and good luck.!!
  7. Had a quick look at the invoice, it doesn't specify what oil they've used but it cost £39.95+VAT. I did ask the service receptionist and supposedly they have used 'long life' oil, in answer to my question they actually said... "yes, with the car being on variable servicing we use long life oil.". They've reset the service interval and it's currently suggesting the next service will be due in 19k miles. Skidpan. The car is 16 months old and is on a 2yr contract, at the time of the service it had done 18260 miles. All things being equal the next service will be due in around 18,000 miles but I'll have returned the car by then so, this should be the only service I pay for in 2yrs and 27,000 miles ownership (lease-ship ). Had I been on a fixed service interval would it not require a service every 10k / 12 months and therefore, I would have to pay for at least two services? I was never offered such a beneficial service plan, £270 for two services does sound very good, but still £110 more than I hope I will need to pay...
  8. @Adrian55555 That price does include VAT and the oil accounted for around £40 + VAT from memory....
  9. Okay, car went into RRG Skoda in Bolton on Wednesday. They dropped me off at work (their car not mine), did a combined 1st Oil and Inspection service, sent me a nice little video, reset the service indicators, £160 all in. Where on earth the supplying dealer got "that'll be £360 and I've applied a little discount" I've no idea.... In truth I think £160 for what is essentially an Oil & Filter change is a bit steep but, given some of the comments on this thread I'm okay with it. Thanks again for all the replies. Terry
  10. Thanks for all the replies, I do appreciate your comments. I contacted a Skoda dealer near to where I work yesterday and they quoted £160... I clarified that this would cover both the 1st Oil and 1st Inspection Services and the guy said yes. He went on to say they would reset the display and I should be good for another 18k. It was the supplying dealer who quoted £360, don't think they'll be the supplying dealer when I come to replace the car.! In truth, as others have said, there doesn't appear to be much to this service, Oil, Oil Filter, Pollen Filter, check over and top up the fluids as required... Anyway, booked in for the 29th so I'll let you know. Thanks again, Terry
  11. Advice please. My car is on a variable service schedule and is booked in for it's 1st Oil and Inspection Service (according to display the Oil due in 1k and the Inspection in 2k so thought it easier to have them both done at the same time?), I've done approx. 18,000 miles. My question is, what should I expect to pay for this 'combined' service? The dealer has quoted approx. £360 inc Parts, Labour & VAT. I thought this sounded a little steep but having never owned a Superb before, I had nothing to compare it with. I'd appreciate your comments. Terry
  12. This has nothing to do with Audi's or Skoda's but it might give one or two of the older members of this forum a smile.... I once had a Vauxhall Viva, its previous owner worked in the bodyshop of a Vauxhall garage and from the outside it looked like a Magnum (is anyone on here old enough to remember them?). Wide wheels, slightly flared arches, front spoiler, spots, grill, the lot... Unfortunately, under the bonnet was a standard, gutless, Vauxhall Viva engine.... and not a good example at that. A 50 mile drive to Blackpool to 'cruise' the prom involved carrying at least 1 gallon of oil (never had to do an oil change, just stuck a new filter on every now and again) AND a gallon of water. It also had a 4 speed Bedford Beagle gearbox out of a van. Top speed, if I felt brave enough, 65.... maybe 70mph depending on which way the wind was blowing. Problem was, every boy racer, at every set of traffic lights, wanted a race.... very embarrassing However, I still have very fond memories of that car......... Terry
  13. I did a quick 10k report back in January, at that time I reported the following: - "Over the past couple of months, I’ve noticed that the MPG’s dropped to the high 40’s from being consistently in the low 50’s. I’ve put this down to a change in the weather… more idling time whilst defrosting, traffic moving a little slower, that sort of thing. I always check the MPG tank fill to tank fill so these reading are quite accurate, I find the on-board computer is always a couple of MPG optimistic." My commute is 24 miles, a mixed bag of Motorway, 50mph A roads and a little town traffic. Since then, and through the worst of the bad weather, I had a couple of tank fills drop to around 46 but I'm pleased to say it's back into the low 50's.... last tank fill was just shy of 51 (genuine) and it's currently looking around 52 - 53.! Happy days PS I never use stop/start.
  14. The number of times I've parked, got out of the car, looked back, got back in the car and moved it forward.....
