  1. https://www.mtecbrakes.com/brake-discs/audi/s3-1999/s3-quattro08-99-11-03 Cheaper than expected? 99-03..Wonder if there were other variations in size 🤔
  2. Hi guys. Has anyone got any suggestions on identifying the S3 front brake discs on my 2009 (59) Mk2 facelift please? They were fitted when I bought the car some years ago. I've replaced the pads several times but not the discs. Could I potentially identify them via the pad numbers or is it a case of physically measuring them and counting the bolts etc to find the year of S3 they came off? Thanks in advance 👍🏻
  3. Bargain. Just ordered 2 Asymmetric 5's inc vat and delivery for less than £140. Gawd bless the internet. Thanks for the help all. Now just need to find a good refurb company for all 4 wheels before I get them fitted 👍
  4. Mainly supermarket / mummy driving. Still put some decent tyres on for the rare time I get to give the old girl some abuse. Found some Goodyear Asymmetric 5's for less than 70 quid each with free delivery. Happy days. They'll do.
  5. Oh dear. Do I need to input a winky face for you to detect the sarcasm Gregoir? I thought it was pretty obvious. Nevermind.
  6. Thanks for all the messages guys. I've still not around to ordering them yet. Still got about 2mm left on the front tyres (at least about 200k miles surely). Gona have a hunt and get them ordered and do a full refurb. I think i'll probably end up going for the Goodyear if they are cheaper. Its a family car that mainly does a supermarket run so it doesn't really matter.
  7. Cheers all. Will probably go for the Goodyear if they are cheaper.. It's a daily driver so the difference probably won't be noticeable.
  8. Progress I'd imagine but at how much extra per corner? I'll investigate 👍
  9. Cheers Mark. I heard the 5 is noisier than the 3? Also I find the 3 spin up easily even in the dry.... Or is that just me?
  10. Goodyear Eagle Asymmetric 3 Tyres decent? Fronts are nearly slicks and wheels desperately need a refurb. Gona do both at same time. Replace with the same? 🤔
  11. PS do you know if they put an uprated tensioner in her? I read that there was a new one available that shouldn't **** itself like the factory ones often do. Will have to ensure my mechanic uses the correct parts.
  12. Thanks for the info. Towed her to the garage last night. Wish me luck
  13. Thanks guys. F@cking thing. Wish me luck when they take it apart :(
  14. Hi guys. Long story short.. Engine packed up with no warning. Turned over and sounds like a bag of spanners. Suspected cam chain / chain tensioner failure. Local garage estimate if its just the chain it will be approx £500-600. If its damaged some valves too it could be in the region of £1200-1300. Is this a reasonable rate to pay? Thanks very much.
  15. Evening guys and girls, Sorry if this has been posted before and all that. I've tried the search whatsit. I am looking to get some EBC Red Stuff pads on the rear of my 2009 VRS. A couple of sites come up with DP31518C as the right pads for me but I have heard that there are 3 different sizes for the Mk2 Octavia. Can anyone confirm this is the correct one thank you please? Cheers
  16. Thanks for the help and tips guys. Turns out both blue 15's were ok and it was a little clear 5 that has gone pop. All working again. Just no washer fluid coming through to the rear, but that's another story! SJ
  17. Hi guys, Here's a pic I just took. You can see that its not in slot 41 as the card suggests (was like this when I bought the car in May). Either way the fuse is OK and i tried a new one in there with no difference. Think its going to be a case of getting to the rear wiper motor to see if its jammed / donald ducked. Cheers. SJ
  18. I'll take a pic in the morning. From what I remember there was nothing even in the row that the manual suggested. Cheers everyone for the help so far. Much appreciated.
  19. Cheers X Man. If i recall it was in a different location than 41 on the diagram. Will get a photo when its light. Either way the Blue 15 Amp fuse was ok and I tried a new one in its place with no joy :( Think i'll either have to try and get to the wiper motor or get my local friendly mechanic to have a look... the latter probably will cost me less in the long run as i'll only break something else
  20. Hmmm. No joy with the wd40. Is the wiper motor easy to access? Cheers. SJ
  21. Cheers guys. Yes im pretty sure it was the right fuse. Blue 15 on the drivers side. I forget the exact position without it in front of me. I'll have a try with the wd40 and wiggling her about a bit first and see if I get any joy.
  22. Thanks for the info and tips Pikpilot. Are there any idiots guides to taking these apart and gaining access? I'm a strong subscriber to the DFWI theory as I often have a habit of making it worse or breaking it when it comes to anything technical Cheers. SJ
