  1. Maybe it does not like your music.. Mine misbehaves when I really turn up the volume. No sense to that one either Hayden
  2. Unit arrived From Germany today. Went in without a fight. I removed the dashboard tray for access and Using double side tape, put the GPS aerial under the dash on the cross rail. Cable just drops down to the head unit without any fuss. Biggest problem was placing the cable adapter block at the rear. With the top tray out it is really easy. Everything works so far: satnav, ipod, radio, phone, canbus connectivity etc. Only thing not tested is the wifi side as I don't use that. Unit provided with igo and something else- will change that shortly. Very pleased with it. Hayden
  3. Been reading with interest too Looked at some of the ebay links and purchased one. After the guy posted the goods he emailed me to say they wont work with ipod/ phones. As soon as it arrives it has to go back. A bit narked with that. I spoke to a dealer on aliexpress and found http://tinyurl.com/lovh6tv. Has sat nav ipod connectivity etc. The unit is coming from Germany so should be here within the week. Mine was £150 as they had a deal on. will post results Hayden
  4. Halfords reckon they can put it in for £50 and if it does not work they will take it out again and give refund...
  5. God these systems are complex! Hopefully I will get there in the end
  6. Thanks Although I have many talents, the joys of canbus systems are new to me. I normally have things I can work on or modify/ hack
  7. Any ideas if the optical parking system display will show on this? (feb 2013 mk2 facelift octavia estate) Hayden
  8. May well have been condensation. checked a couple of time on the way home- no sign of mayonaise anywhere and the standing water evaporated quickly
  9. As it turned out Bolero is £990.10 with fitting and VAT. The Skoda man offered me DNX516DAB with satnav and ipod control, supply only at £1058. Ther may be a problem with something call a "double Fakra connector" have to look that up. Halfords to supply and fit Kenwood dmx-7017 DAB at £449 + connectors + fitting may be a good choice. All I want is a decent radio, ipod interface and to keep the reversing thingy that comes up on screen.
  10. Even a circus tend to organise stuff...
  11. Had a feeling that Halfords would not be interested if there was a fault. I (Rightly) guessed it was only the fuse but I did not want to admit to them I had turned up with a few simple tools and some fuses. Unfortunately not the right size/ value for the ciggy holder. They were really incompetant. They asked Skoda for a quote for a satnav instead of the Bolero unit so when I got home Skoda informed them the price was about £400 more. Renault freaked. I called the general manager to sort it all out. Skoda offered me a kenwood upgrade £1100 supply only. A refund for £920 is heading my way on Monday from Renault. Tuesday I will be heading to Halfords for a Kenwood rds/Fm(non satnav) unit that will take ipods. Told the Skoda guy I was unlikely to buy from him but he can have my business for servicing etc. Carrs at Indian Queens in Cornwall have my thanks and recommendation.
  12. The accesory plug was not working when I went to leave. The spanners had just gone to lunch so the salesman suggested I go th Halfords as the car was under warranty. He did not grasp the concept that the car was his responsibility.
  13. Renault main dealer west London. We will be having many more words later. I am preparing list of complaints for Renault. The salesman looked at the filler cap with water and oil on it and started shaking it back into the engine. I grabbed his hand and pulled the cap away, but he dropped it down the engine bay. I told him to go get a pickup tool. He got a hairy mechanic who could not get his hand down the gap. They did not have a litter picking type tool so they got the telephone receptionist to retrieve it- she had skinny arms- unbelievable. A bunch of creepy smarms. After their comments, they got really ****ed off that I went over the car in GREAT detail. Luckily I was not getting a Renault prepared by them. Luckily the Octavia had been Skoda main dealer serviced 1 month back.
  14. got the car today- put a note on "Mk 2 or 3 ?" thread what fun!
