  1. Within 4m of the car, I doubt reception is the issue.
  2. Only use I found was finding out if the battery was charged whilst inside the house. As of most recent car software update, the battery level shows 81%, the connection 'unplugged'. Not much use. Re-installed the app, no change. Bin it?
  3. How do I 'mark this post as a solution' - as asked by an email?
  4. "Another way to check for heated windscreen is to look for a lighter rectangular-patch on the dark areas left and right of the rear-view mirror. For heated windscreens those two patches are missing the metallic layer to avoid attenuation of electromagnetic waves - checkout the 2nd picture." Thanks @SkOmk4, that makes sense. - when the frost clears I'll have a look 🙂
  5. Using the app, the rear screen clears of frost quickly. The front screen appears not to be affected? Close inspection, I'm unable to see any heating wires in the front screen? Is it heated please?
  6. Yes, 'right way round' makes sense, once you understand it! A dmm found live ones, I was puzzled that *all* mini's were not switched! As per that article, I sought an 'unused' fuse (no output side wired). I disagree about 'top' being 12V feed, I found the unused mini's to be on the lower side. All in for now, though I have to switch off the dashcam. I agree with the post, fuse access needed gymnastics to get the 'damper' off is simple bad design by Skoda. Ditto v.poor fuse access / diagramming? I may re-run the cable to avoid the airbags, good info there spinifex - thank you.
  7. Good question. I could understand if it were behind the back wheel, where muck is thrown up, but in front? I guess they know what they're doing...?
  8. Octavia, 2017. New (to me) car. Clean it for the first time. Polishing in front of the rear wheel arch I see (my view) a paint bubble! Shock horror. Take it to the garage only to be told that there is a segment of protective film (as I use on my smartphone glass) in that area... And it has an air bubble in it! I walk away feeling a bit daft :-)
  9. 47 in my book (shame the owners manual image is too small to read). I do wish their manuals were better. 101 options / variations / models all in one book. Very confusing.
  10. The dash cam I have has a small bullet connector, the 'standard sized' fuse piggy back a larger bullet? Also I found I could not physically insert the old fuse into the piggy back unit - seemed just too tight. hence I wanted to use a 'spare' socket. I've now bought a 'standard' sized piggy back piece. Again the fuses are extremely tight! I know it may vibrate out... but this is ridiculous! I'll have to cut off the two bullet pieces and use an insulated spade connector. Rear wiper (fuse 47? Bottom row) - Thanks, I'll try that one.
  11. Dashcam install. 1.5 2017 Octavia. All the 'mini' fuses I tried are powered with ignition off (relative to chassis earth). Anyone know a fuse which is / should be / switched please? Currently using mini fuse 15, should be 'Electric steering lock' - no fuse fitted. Annoyance (risk) of battery drain.
  12. Wiring a dashcam, I'm tempting to use one of the single ended (switched) fuse holders. Is there any reason not to please? E.g. 26, heated front seats?
  13. I'm finding the 'dual' fuse fitting on the dashcam positive hasn't room for the fuse taken out? Do I have to go buy some slim ones? I'm assuming the fuse taken out slips into the dashcam lead fitting ? Is that right?
