  1. I kept the OEM springs and replaced with Koni red dampers - wow what a difference. Everything is firmed up but not harsh. No more wallowing. Recommended
  2. Just fitted Koni Special Actives on my 280 Sportline 4x4 and - Wow! Its what the car should have been like all along. Only a couple of 100 miles on it since the fit but no more floating and wallowing. It is slightly stiffer over the small slow speed stuff, but not hard but it is SO much better when pushed. Kept the springs the same, just a damper change. If doing it yourself, and it is straight forward, you will need a few bespoke tools and it is possible to do it without removing the front hubs and driveshafts etc. watch a couple of vids on youtube, just search for Golf Mk7 suspension change 2x4 method. I needed to get a set of euro tri-square bits (12 point bits), a damper 16mm socket with euro blade fit and a suspension spreader bit. the rest was just in my normal tools box. If in doubt..... do it!
  3. I became an AWD convert following a few Subaru Impreza Turbos (very impressive cars!). No more scrabbling for grip trying to get the power down. great on poor roads in bad weather
  4. Thanks winmoz i was quoted £1500-1800! but i think that was for the folding OEM type. This looks like a much more cost effective option. I'll go and re-engage with my local dealer. TT
  5. hi winmoz, I'm thinking of doing the same with my Sportline 280. Would be most grateful if you could give and details (and costings if you don't mind - please feel free to PM me). Thanks TT
  6. Railnutter - I'm thinking of a retro fit. I would be most grateful for a few more details. feel free to PM me. thanks
  7. Hi all, Has anyone tried retro fitting an OEM towbar??? I quite fancy giving it a go to my 280 Sportline so grateful for any advice.
  8. Sagalout - thanks but unfortunately the offending hole is about 30' inside Gloucestershire!. Now I'm home I can do a bit of research on line. Apparently Gloucestershire council is difficult!
  9. Thanks gents, very useful. The rim was ok, bar a few marks but did need a new tyre and align. Not much change from £230! i have got pictures of it and reported the hole and asked for the process to claim but so far just got the usual ‘we aim to reply to you within 10 working days’ we shall see....
  10. Hit a pothole this morning with a hell of a bang! Pulled over about 1/2 mile later with a flat 19”. Bugger! Put space saver on and got the expected front right tyre flat message and tyre warning. But I also got a flashing ESC stability light and car really sluggish as in a limp home mode. After about a mile the flashing light went out and the car picked up again. This has happened intermittently on the 15 mile journey to local Kwik Fit. Could i I have damaged something else or is it just connected to driving on a space saver? new tyre needed £175 and a wheel alignment! Very expensive for a poorly kept road! Anyone got any advice to claim against the council? (Gloucestershire). I have reported the hole but if anyone crossing the bridge northbound in Lechlade be aware!
  11. Hello all New hear as just picked up our new Superb III 280 Sportsline 4x4 Hatchback in Moon white! love it. Swapped our Octavia VRs estate for it and boy it's huge!!!
