  1. Let us hope so. This can only be to the consumers benefit.
  2. VAG Skoda registered in Luxembourg so will it be EU law? They have a lot more money than an individual so the chance of winning a case is low. As for Evs the Chinese are not there yet but the recent 27% boost in output on Sodium Ion batteries should help. To counter that, adding Silicon to to Lithium ION batteries is also going to give them a boost. Might not see this for year or so until it is integrated into mass production.
  3. If you order from the manufacturer you will pay RRP. The only way you will get a discount is if people stop ordering and they are stuck with unsaleable stock. It did happen in Australia with Mercedes.
  4. Yes, this is the new sales model. Buy direct so that all the profit goes to the manufacturer. Dealers get paid a pittance and buyers get nothing on the deal.
  5. Thank you. These are presumably cars bought by dealers before Skoda changed the game.
  6. I have just been told by my Skoda deaaler that if I buy a new Enyaq, I will be buying it direct from Skoda. There appears to be no room for negotiation now. Quotes from dealers are all at RRP. When Mercedes and Honda tried this in Australia their sales dropped by 15%. Maybe this would force price reductions time will tell.
  7. When travelling on the A9, South from Aviemore, Monday (27/11/2023) the adaptive cruise control on my, Enyaq, kept slowing the car to 50 mph even though the limit was 60 mph. With maximum re-gen switched on the car slows very quickly which represents a safety hazard to following traffic. This happened frequently which caused me to switch to manual control. This is caused by the HGV 50mph sign which the car camera reads as a 50mph limit. Complained to Transport Scotland who say they are planning to fix the problem by the end of the financial year using their contractor BEAR.
  8. They left out the decimal point. Heat pumps are not efficient at vey low temperatures.
  9. Some people are just lucky I guess. I have one that has lasted that long but it is beginning to make gurgling noises so the end is in sight. The compressor in the car is smaller and some analysts say they suffer from poor design choices. Only time will tell.

  10. A heat pump is a more eficient way of heating than direct electricity. Having a mechanical compressor it is also a potential point of failure. Ask yourself how often the temperature where you want to drive is going to be below 0C where the heat pump would be most effective then decide if the cost is worth it.
  11. Niggles you missed. 1. You can only use half the glove box. Put anything in the left side and the box will not close properly. Due to poor design conversion to right hand drive. 2. The USB ports are at the bottom of the phone charging hole. As soon as you put your hand in to plug in, you obscure the port and can't see it. 3. The charging cable, supplied with the car, is stored under the boot floor. If you pack the boot you can't get it out without unloading. I purchased a bag from Amazon and hag it on one of the hooks problem solved. 4. There is currently no way to put personalised POI information into the Sat Nav. 5. Skoda offer a Power Pass which can be ordered online but when I tried this it would not accept a UK Post Code and as a result the bank would not authorise the transaction. Skoda CIC and Bank fixed this but what a hassle and although the card was sent a fortnight ago it still has not arrived. 6. The Ice scraper is now in the Boot lid. My wife can't reach it. 7. The adaptive cruise control lever is hidden by the steering iin some cases. (Depends on seat hiight and person hight mainly). I agree that you have to be vigilant for some of the Cruise Control foibles when running. Some of them can be turned off if they annoy you. 8. The manual says that for certain things you have to read the digitlal manual. Which has to be downloaded from the Skoda Enyaq web site. 9. My infotainment system has thrown up a few oddities which I am hoping will be fixed by the next update. It appears that other people claim to have not had these. Things like my Binnacle display showing a straight arrow for the next turn but the Nav display showing bear right arrow.
  12. Dashboard Reflection. Yes this occurs on my Loft trim Enyaq as well. Dealer says this occurs on lots of cars and I pointed out it did not happen on my previous three cars. I think it is someting to do with the angle of the windowscreen and the colour of the Dash top. To prove the point I covered the Dash with black cloth and the reflection does not happen. I do have a HUD so that will not work as a long term solution. Incidently the HUD does not work if you wear Polaroid glasses when driving. As you say good car but lots of annoying niggles.
  13. The car manual is better but still contains English language errors. Even UK publishers don't have prrof readers these days judging by the errors I see.
  14. Instavolt charge 40p/KWh now that the VAt is charged at 20%. Everybody should write to their MP and complain about this. This policy is at odds with trying get more electric vehicles on the road.
  15. Lancaster Booths supermarket. Pub for food just across the road.
  16. Yes, keep zap-map on my phone and my lap top. Real pain wading through that lot to decide where to go and besides carrying RFID cards for every charger is a nuisance so I concentrate on those that take credit/debit cards.
  17. Profile updated but forgot to save it in my rush to get on the road. Corrected now. 125KW charging 353.33 +VAT. If you are going long distances you will need it. Can't understand why this is not standard on the 80.
  18. Picked it up on 18th June and took it from Fife to Oxford. No real problems but finding a charger of the right capacity, working and accepting a credit/debit card is a challenge. First stop (Carnforth Instavolt) two units not in service. Next stop (Lancaster Instavolt) both units working and car charged up. Then (Sandbach Services) new Gridserve fast charger no problem. Running about Oxford/Abingdon (Abingdon Instavolt) again no problem. Heading back North both units at Sandbach in use, so went on to Knutsford where two Gridserve units had just been installed. Only one had been commisioned but only one needed, which charged from 27% to 90% in 40 minutes. Final stop at Penrith (Instavolt) again a fast charge and home. Most of these stops have a coffee shop nearby which is handy. I have learned to avoid Electric Highway/ Ecotricity as their old machines don't accept debit/credit cards and often don't work or the app does not work. These are gradually being replaced by Gridserve fast chargers.
  19. Think of it as standing at the back of your refrigerator at home, where the heat coming from the pipe gride at the back is being sucked from inside the fridge. A heat pump is simply cabale of reversing the process to to warm the inside of the fridge and make the room cold. A heat pump uses an electrically driven compressor which will use less electricity than direct electric heating.
  20. Date now brought forward to June 18th. It can be collected at 8.30am. Dealer has bent over backwards to get this done. Pity VAG could not be as good.
  21. Something probably got lost in translation. If there is a heat pump it does not make any sense no to use it for the cabin as well. Interestingly the earlier versions of the spec did not say what the heat pump was used for. Just that an extortionate sum would be required to fit it.
  22. So the only difference between the heat pump and the compressor used for cooling the car are three valves and some extra pipework for which you will pay over a £1000.
