Spark plugs
Just been stung by this - 31,000 miles on my Scala, had a service two weeks back, this week i get an email for spark plug change, £150 ! I rang them and turns out they forgot to send me the healthcheck when being serviced or i would have had them done then. I think £150 is pretty bad for 3 plugs.

Infotainment Unit Issues
I had the chance to do a long drive this weekend, sadly the infotainment unit failed again so the fix did not work. I have narrowed it down to a very specific set of circumstances now and also ruled out my phone as I used a different one. It seems it will fail between 2 to 2-1/2 hours of navigating use if the unit is also playing music via the USB slots and a memory stick. If the radio only is used it will function ok. I have tried it on an Android and iPhone now - same results. I'll be contacting customer services again tomorrow about it.

Infotainment Unit Issues
Thanks, was it a firmware/software update that fixed it? My local Skoda branch applied an update a short while ago but since then i've only done short journeys so not had a full chance to test it. I have a longer drive this weekend and it has failed before on the same trip so will know more by next week.

Infotainment screen rebooting and Freezing
Its the unit, it was failing on the last trip even with the phone disconnected. It may have used bluetooth but the USB cable was unplugged so its not android auto, it does it after about 90 mins driving. There should be no way for a BT device to cause a master unit reset, drop the connection yes but not force a reboot.

Infotainment screen rebooting and Freezing
Hi, thanks but I have confirmed its not the phone, not directly at least - once it started messing about last trip I disconnected and it carried on messing about. Android phones wont connect without android auto, not if you need the sat-nav display anyway. Its always via USB as again, the sat-nav will not display without USB connection.

Infotainment screen rebooting and Freezing
I had this on my last Scala, Skoda couldn't fix it and in the end we worked out a deal for an upgrade, I got a newer Scala (2021) and guess what - the unit is now re-booting mid-drive, over and over, it eventually stops and settles down but seems pretty bad to not be fixed. I'm going through head-office this time.

Infotainment Unit Issues
Hi all, I'm having big trouble with my Scala - when driving, the infotainment unit/display keeps re-starting, the odd thing is this is the second Scala I have had with this issue, the previous one spent so much time at the dealers in the end they gave up and we struck a favourable deal for a replacement car! What happens is that after about 90 minutes of drive, the audio will cut out, about a minute later the display will go blank, followed about two minutes later by the unit rebooting. This cycle will then repeat for maybe 30-60 minutes when oddly it will settle down again - this is useless when using it with the phone as a sat-nav display. As I have suffered before, this time I went straight to head-office as I am not investing a penny in this repair given the past experiences where I lost out a fair bit. They have booked it in for a look at, over a couple of days, I'm currently trying to get them to organise a free loan car now. Has anyone else had issues with the head unit in the Scala, I can't believe I have had two dodgy cars in a row?? I have ruled out the phone as it does it when not using the sat-nav connection, it's not the MP3 player as it does it while using the radio.

New to DSG, am i right...
My Scala with the DSG 7 box is the best car I have owned so far, its comfy, surprising nippy if you poke it, very economical in the 55-60mpg area, big rear space etc. Its a great car, our previous was the Rapid SpaceBack and our next car will be a Skoda as well.

There are two point on my car - with foot hard on the brake and box in D or S, the revs are about 850-900 and no attempt to move, its in full neutral. As I release the pressure on the brake to say a light hold, the revs will lift to 1000 and the DSG will go to biting point on first gear - this is the point that you do not want to hold for too long as its the same as slipping the clutch on a manual. Check for the two rev points with handbrake off and foot hard on brake, then lift foot a little - the revs should change, if not I would consult a service garage maybe. I have not tried the same with handbrake but I would expect the DSG to be biting if its in Drive as It would be expecting a hill start maybe? Normally when handbrake is on the box would be in N.

It was the infotainment unit, a new replacement fixed the issue.
