  1. The Mechatronic unit has leaked, colour looks green. I have been reading and watching videos. It is mentioned that the replacement Mechatronic unit needs calibrating using the VCDS system. I do not have access to this regards Paul
  2. Looked under the car and there is oil leakage. So assume it is the Mechatronic unit failed. Problem is I can't drive it. Will attempt to get a better look at the unit tomorrow. I assume leak means repairing the Mechatronic. Will report back tomorrow. regards Paul
  3. Today our DSG Roomster has developed a problem. The D lights were flashing and the gears were not selecting. Put it into S (sport mode) and it seemed better. Do not want to drive it as I do not want to be stranded. Phiil -E mentions a kit available for accumulator split - any part numbers please? Car has done 55k and has been working perfectly. What visual checks can I do? best regards Paul
  4. Ours has been called the "Dumpster" from day one
  5. Good upgrade. I did some research and the Monroe ones were well thought off. There was not anything wrong with the old ones when I examined them.
  6. Run of the mill shocks are £30 to £40 a pair, these were £95 a pair. So I thought they would be a good upgra
  7. I have tried to improve the ride and fitted a pair of Monroe O.E Spectrum rear shock absorbers, easy to change, the car has done 50k miles. But I was unable to detect any difference. I did the rears first as it was an easy job. But I could not justify the effort of changing the front ones. I really like the car with its DSG box but would like to make it more comfortable.
  8. We purchase a Roomster about 4 years ago. My 96 year old Mother in Law lives with us. We spent a few days trailing around car showrooms looking for a car that she could get into easily. I wanted a Skoda Superb estate.BUT no good too difficult to get into. So we went looking at bout 0 other vehicles including ones with sliding doors. No good. For some reason we went back to the Skoda dealer and in the car park was a Roomster. It was a customers car being serviced but the guy got the keys and Nana jumped in and out like a good en. The following week I picked up a 2012 1.2 TSI. Done about 24,000 without a problem (apart from the door wiring loom) Brilliant car really pleased with it.
  9. I had some rails fitted by Stourbridge Skoda dealer, its a fixed price. If I remember correctly it was about £220 including the rails. Ours also has a pano roof
  10. To prevent this in the future , put a smear of grease on the mating face of the hub before putting the wheel back on.
  11. Kenrw8 thanks for the info, I have now found some suppliers Amazon can not get them for a month or so. It seems odd that the rears are more expensive than the fronts. I am interested in them to improve the ride comfort, my 94 year old mother in law needs cosseting. Did you find any improvement in the ride?
  12. Where can you buy Monroe OEspectrum shock absorbers for a Roomster. All the sites I have visited do not stock them
  13. Yes I forgot to say I went through the Spares Department.
  14. Just had roof rails fitted by Trust of Stourbridge. Cost £220 including fitting, took a couple of hours, very pleased with them. Thanks for the info regards Paul
  15. Dear Scribbler I gave up on my unit and sent it back. It locked up and I could not get it to restart. I took it out and powered it back up and it reset. The response from pumpkin was to do a factory reset. This meant all the applications were lost I had spent some time setting it all up and did not want the hassle in the future. I was using Google maps and used the hotspot on my phone. This worked ok but I have plenty of data on my phone plan. I tried the Pumpkin forum, they mean well but its does not appear to be well supported, the model range is changing all the time and very confusing. I am back to the original Skoda set up and I think I will carry on with that. Sorry I can't be more helpful best regards Paul
  16. Dear Phil Thanks for the update. I asked Pumkin about the differences between the unit you have and the latest one. Their reply Not too sure what to make of that reply. I am not to worried about the fiddly setup, more bothered about having to update firmware and instsbility. I have also messaged them on Amazon and asked if they can supply through Amazon, think it maybe easier to sort out any issues. will let you know what happens regards Paul
  17. Dear Phil Thanks for the review. Is the unit still working well? I am thinking of trying This Pumpkin. I have asked Pumpkin a few questions but am not getting much response from them. regards Paul
  18. Thanks for that. I have standard 195/55 R15, the pressures are all correct. There is no problem with the handling or ride but I just want to make an improvement over standard. I think my existing shock absorbers are still good but must have deteriorated somewhat. Hence looking at replacement sooner rather than later to get a better ride. best regards Paul
  19. Thanks for that; but which ones did you find the best? LOL
  20. Dear All I have a 1.2 DSG Roomster 2012. It has done 30,000 miles and is in good condition. I want to improve the suspension to make it more comfortable. I certainly do not need it lowered and the suspension made firmer. We use the car to transport my 92 year old mother in law and want to make it as pleasant as possible. The main reason for a Roomster was my MIL could hop in and out with ease. I wanted a new Superb; but it was difficult to get in or out!!!! I am not seeking better cornering, just a more pleasant ride. I have seen the Koni FSD kit has anyone fitted these to a Skoda? Are there any other set up I could consider. best regards Paul
  21. I have just bought a 1.2 Roomster 2012. It was fitted with one of these hoists as the owner had a "scooter".. The owner took out the hoist but left the frame in the vehicle. It took me about 15 mins to remove it. best regards Paul
  22. Dear All Have just purchased a 2012 silver Roomster with less than 30,000 miles. Car was serviced, MOT and two new front tyres. Drove it home this afternoon (140 miles), very happy with the car and the gearbox is excellent. Looking forward for some trouble-free trips. best regards paul
  23. Using a broker I was quoted 13% discount for a Superb. So that is my target for a used car. I am in no rush to purchase, so I could wait a few weeks. I believe the summer holidays are quiet times for the motor trade. I can pay cash but maybe I should use finance and then settle the finance after a few days.
  24. We are looking to buy a used Roomster, prices in main dealers are around £9000 for the later low mileage models. What discount should I expect to negotiate. I wanted to get a superb but my Mother in law (who lives with us) found it difficult to get in (92 years old). But she hopped in and out of a Roomster!!! best regards Paul
