  1. Mine was a 7 speed, I am not sure which model this is, although Skoda advised that mine does not have replaceable oil in the DSG and that it is lifetime, so nothing has been changed at any service since the mechatronic was replaced in 2017, and since then I have covered another 125k miles, albeit without issue until now. The car lost drive again today, ESC error and TMPS error with the gear indicators flashing, my home ODBII reader just says loss of comms with the TCM, I have managed to get to a master tech garage and they will have a look at see if they can diagnose, the only thing that stands out is that this seem to happen when the car is hot?
  2. I had a new mechatronic in 2017 with 57k miles on the clock, I’ve done 183k miles not and hoping I don’t need another one, love my DSG but this might just put me back to manual, £3k in mechs will be ridiculous!!
  3. What was the issue in the end? Did you get to the bottom of it? My 2013 has just done the same!
  4. The mechatronics was replaced by Skoda in 2017 and 130k miles ago, cost around £1500 fitted. I believe that it has been in for the update to the DSG since then
  5. Unfortunately the earliest diagnostic I can get booked is at the end of the month so trying everything else as well! I have managed to test the relay and that is showing as working so I am ruling that out. The fault seems to becoming more frequent, although when the car started last time it would not allow me to move the gear selector so I don't know if that is point more to the mechatronics or a fault sensor like the ABS wheel sensors. I did have a slightly flat tyre and now that I have pumped up the tyres it will not let me store the pressures and just says that the system is not available.
  6. I have a 2013 (63) 1.6 DSG Octavia with 182k, at c.60k it had a replacement mechatronics which may be pertinent to this issue. On Sunday having driven for 45 minutes and parked at a shopping centre, when I returned to the car it would not start and displayed ESC error, then TPMS error, then stop start error as well as telling me to put in P / N to start despite being in park. After about 30 minutes the car started and travelled the 45 minutes home with no issues. It has started all week and then today mid journey approaching traffic lights the same errors came up and I lost drive completely, not even limp mode, again after about 10 minutes this time the car started and drove to the garage, many fault codes read including steering angle sensor and loss of communication with the transmission control unit. Cleared the codes and drove about 300m and the same thing happened, when we read the codes again ESC, stop start and loss of communication with the transmission control unit, no steering angle this time. I have read that relay 645 may be the culprit, my local dealership has one on hold for £27, do I change this or am I wasting my money, has anyone else had anything similar? Last time the mechatronics went I lost a load of oil under the car, no such issues with this now and it keeps driving after a short break so I am less inclined to think that this is another mechatronics, well at least I am crossing everything that it is not!!
  7. Evening all, MY other half's car has just failed the MOT for a leaking battery, ordering a replacement all the sites suggest an 027 battery, however there is a 096 battery in the vehicle, same height and width just a difference in length with the 027 being shorter. The 096 fits well and I am not adverse to replacing like for like, but am I missing something here why the bigger battery has been fitted, clearly it is an after market and without stop start I am not sure where there is the need? I am leaning towards getting the the recommended 027 battery which is a little cheaper as well.
  8. Afternoon all, strange one here and any help is appreciated. I have a 2013 octavia estate without towing prep, just got back from have a third party towbar fitted by a local company. All appeared ok and lights worked as expected. However, when I open the glovebox I get a warning that a door is open, the outline of the car displays between the dials but ordinarily not showing what door is open, there is the briefest of flashed is white indicating the boot being open. I have contacted the company to at fitted and heading back after the weekend, I’m not filled with confidence for a solution from them after my initial contact. Any bright ideas?!
  9. Evening all, We have a 2010 Fabia 2 with 16" alloy wheels, living rurally with the state of the road the low profile tyres are not lasting long! Thinking of swapping out for some 14" or 15" steel wheels for a smoother ride and cheaper tyres, has anyone done this? is it worth it? Anyone selling a set with tyres local to the South Coast?!
  10. Solved it.... saw my parcel shelf this morning standing by the airing cupboard door, about to throw it away and thought I would give it one more look, managed to get both end caps off, remove and roll the cover back up, slide it back into place, prime the spring and put it all back together, all working! I think I could have put a little more tension in the spring, unfortunately I didn't think I would be successful so I didn't bother taking any photos but here is what I did. 1. under the end caps there looks like 4 slits in the plastic, these are essentially spring loaded latches that catch onto the main body of the roller housing, the slits allow them to flex, gently insert a screw driver blade into the inner 2 slits (one clip per side) ease it out and that will release the clip and the end caps slide off, there is a large spring on each end which pushes these end caps back out to secure into the rear side panels of the boot. 2. each end of the aluminium housing is another cap, both are held in place with plastic lugs which you can push in and gently pry the caps off the housing, no spring to worry about, one end has a hex shaft which stops the inner tube from rotating, the other end has an X shaped inset which mounts into the end of the roller - I took this end off 3. slide the roller out, re roll and refit leaving it to stick out a little. 4. using the end cap wind up the spring to add tension to the roller so that it retracts again when pulled out, carefully though, let the cap come off and you'll need to re prime the spring, happened to me twice and very annoying!! 5. hold the cap on the roller push the roller onto the hex shaft, I used a second pair of hands to guide that end in place, and push the inner end cap on at this point I tested the roller and found that I needed more tension so ended up repeating steps 2 - 5 6. replace the springs and the out end caps, needed to pry the latches to get them on but a bit of force and then snapped back in place. Fitted the the car and working fine again, a little slower than previously so probably could have added even more tension to the spring but much better than spending £100 on a new roller. Hope that helps some other folks, I will try and get some photos if that is not clear and upload later Solved it if you haven't already managed it
  11. Good afternoon all, I have a 2013 Octy 3 DSG, I have replaced the 4 spoke non MF steering wheel with a 3 spoke MFSW (photo attached), at the moment the lights on the steering wheel do not light up and non of the buttons work, the dash displays the buttons not the wheel when a phone call comes in so I am hoping that the highline gateway is there, can anyone help with codes etc, I'm hoping that this all that is missing here to get this working..... so much hassle just to be able to control the stereo from the wheel!!!
  12. Hi all, it would appear that my parcel shelf not longer retracts, looking at it I think the central roller has come off the spindle at one end. I cant figure out how to get it apart to even attempt a repair. Has anyone had the same issue or has anyone been able to take these apart?
