  1. Hi Having previously been on this site with possible leak issues with my Yeti sunroof, I've yet to get any serious ongoing problems... until possibly now! I've read through this thread but have either missed a similar experience to mine or experiencing a slightly different issue to others. My Yeti is normally parked on my drive facing upwards on an incline, last weekend it was parked facing downwards. I came to it after a wet night and morning to go and walk my dogs, and found water dripping from around the centre ceiling interior light console, onto the rear view mirror, then all over the stereo, gear stick and filling the cubby hole under the stereo with water. Thankfully all the electrics still work. I turned the car around and it stopped dripping, the ceiling was very damp around the edges of the ceiling light/sunglasses holder console for a while but looks to have now dried out. The rest of the ceiling and A frames are completely dry. There was a patch of moss here and there on the sunroof seal which I've now cleaned up, and then used the Gummi stuff to soften the seals. I've also tested each sunroof corner drain by pouring water down the channels and they empty straight out. So now I'm very puzzled as to how the water managed to collect and leak in above the rear mirror ceiling area. It's too high above the windscreen seal to have come from there, so it must be the sunroof channel...?? My next test will be to park the car facing down the incline again and running a gentle stream of water from the hosepipe onto the roof to see if it leaks again. If it does, with the car having 110k on it now and being 10yrs old next year, I'm considering replacing it with a non-sunroof car - maybe a Ssangyong Korando or something, rather than paying out for repairs at this stage. Before I do, as I'll be sad to see the Yeti go, does anyone have any ideas how my leak might have happened?
  2. Trailers are a pain, I tried that a couple of times - they limit your speed (might as well take my caravan), cost a load more on the tunnel and are expensive. Thanks for the idea though. What I do like is the idea of removing the middle seat, never though of that - would certainly gain an extra suitcase space. 👍
  3. Nooo, we can't leave the dogs behind!! Mother left behind though.. to look after child also left behind... hmmm now there's something! 😈 Loved the Top Gear Yeti test, if I remember correctly it was better than a Landrover, faster than a Ferrari and cooler than an ice cream. 😁
  4. Hi all I've got a 2012 Yeti 170bhp 4x4, it's been fantastic at pulling the caravan, taking the dogs and transporting us all over the UK. But now I've got a new challenge for it! I've booked a cottage holiday to Germany for 11 days and invited my mum along, which equates to 3 adults, a 14 year old and 2 dogs - plus luggage. The dogs take up the boot, I could build a small shelf under them for a little more storage, and I've got a roof box - but I'm worried that's not enough space for everything. Have you got any ideas for creating more storage space in a Yeti? I'm thinking if I can get hold of some sort of Landrover type roof rack cage that extends further forwards and back - that would give me more space to store luggage. Of course I'd be careful about weight and distribution on something like that. Problem is I can't seem to find anything the right size that would fit on roof bars... Any ideas would be massively appreciated!!
  5. Thanks for the replies and links, I had no idea this was such a common issue with the Fabia! Like DaveLees I guess I'll be going down the dehumidifying bag route and making sure the windows are as clean as can be for now.
  6. This is the first really cold spell I've been through with our 2018 Fabia, and this morning the temperature was down to -2.5C. I was getting the car warmed up, scraping the ice off etc and then sat waiting for the windscreen to defrost. Only this took ages, as it was frozen on the inside too and very wet. I never normally like to touch the windscreen inside as it then ends up becoming smeared, but I had no choice but to wipe the water away - and continue to wipe it away as it was defrosting and dribbling down the screen. The boot window was just as bad. My Yeti I've had for years is so much better than this, even having left damp dog towels in the boot by mistake in this weather before has never created that much condensation after a freezing night. There doesn't seem to be any damp or water in my Fabia to have caused this - does anyone else get the same issue?
  7. When I bought our 2018 Fabia (without LED bulbs) this is the first thing I noticed, the lights had a lot of condensation in them. On raising it with the salesman he mentioned all of the above basically. Could be this time of year, the car has been stood for a long time without being used before we bought it, just something that happens. Fortunately having had the car for a month or so now it's disappeared and hasn't come back, but for those it still happens with I really don't think it should. I've never had that on any of my previous cars, so it's got to be a design issue.
  8. Hi Sorry to hear of your troubles, I've just recently purchased a 2 year old Fabia and am missing the auto lights feature I have on my Yeti and did have on the Fabia's predecessor - however after hearing this I think I'm glad I haven't got that feature now! It reminds me of the ECU updates over the whole emissions scandal, and why so many owners were putting signs on the steering wheel when putting their cars into Skoda for servicing to not apply the update as it caused more problems than it solved. Perhaps owners should do the same in this situation too...
  9. Hi Thanks for the replies on this. Going by quite a few of them and more online digging it does seem going digital on service histories does leave a gaping hole unless assumptions are made that an 'Inspection with oil change' includes checking all sorts of things. But will Skoda back that up under warranty circumstances? I also contacted 2 Skoda dealerships end of last week to try and get hold of my Fabia's service history. 1 of them I phoned on 2 separate days to be told I'd get a call back, which I'm still waiting for... The other I phoned once and had a call back within 20mins, a really helpful guy in the service department took my details and emailed me a copy of the service history almost straight away. He also helped with a bit of info about the blue smoke I initially mentioned. So I know which garage I'll be using for work in future! I'm told it's ok to see a bit of blue smoke on a cold start, so long as it doesn't continue - which is right, soon as the car is driven away there's no longer any blue smoke so I'll stop worrying about that for now. Lastly, I noticed my Skoda app has changed to a MySkoda app now but still doesn't work. On talking to Skoda UK it seems they're having a few glitches with it and it may take a few days to become fully available again.
  10. Hi All A week ago yesterday we collected a Fabia 1.0 TSI 110 from our local Nissan dealership, they sit next door to a Skoda dealer under the same name of Bristol St Motors, it's a 2018 with 26k on the clock. So far we've loved the car, I'm amazed at how speedy a little 1.0 can be! And also impressed I actually managed to get the Skoda Android Auto working. We already have an 8 yr old Yeti that has been brilliant and so have some trust in Skodas. It's only been a week, so early days...but... My concern is around service history, I've taken the dealership on their word that the car comes with a full service history. But because it's all online I have no proof anything has been done, and assumed I'd just be able to log in to some website or app and view this. How wrong I was! I've now searched this forum and online extensively and come up against a brick wall. It seems there is an app called MySkoda, or at least there used to be, as I cannot find it anywhere. The nearest I've found is called Skoda Connect, but this doesn't show any service history - just the same information my car already displays i.e countdown to the next service. This morning I watched my wife leave the drive in it and I'm sure I noticed a tinge of blue smoke from the exhaust, even in cold weather on a cold start I'm pretty sure I shouldn't be seeing this from such a new car. I need to do some more checking to confirm if what I saw was right. We've taken out a 3 year warranty, and currently still under the 3 week 'money back if you don't like it' guarantee - so feel pretty secure that we're covered if anything goes wrong. Reason being our trade in for this was a 5 year old Nissan Note we bought less than a year ago, that then had engine troubles, had to go to the dealership and ended up with £3k repair costs out of warranty. We managed to negate this with a decent trade in price and much reduced repair costs - but it's made me a lot more wary. So has anyone actually managed to find their service history online or through an app recently? Or should I just go through a Skoda dealership to gain this info? Also, any thoughts on the blue smoke? If it is right what I saw - and I'll update when I've checked it again over the next couple of days - should it be a case of hand it straight back for another car or check the oil and just keep an eye on things since I've got the warranty anyway?
  11. I currently have a 5 berth 1400kg caravan towed with my Yeti 4x4 2.0tdi 170. It's an excellent tow car and easily pulls the caravan, including motorway hills remaining in 6th gear - something I really didn't expect it could do! We've recently done a long trip up to Scotland and back towing the caravan and it really did impress me, I was a bit worried about the size of the Yeti in comparison and the likelihood of snaking occurring. No worries though, it felt completely solid and in control at all times. Previous to this I had a Nissan Xtrail 2.2tdi, whilst that was also a good tow car the handbrake didn't hold the setup on steep hills and you needed to drive in 5th on most motorway journeys. The Yeti just beat it hands down, cheaper to run, better towing torque, felt more in control and wallows around less.
  12. Thanks for the comments, and info Sad555.
  13. Hi, sorry to revive a slightly old thread. My Yeti (2.0 TDi SE Plus 4x4 170bhp) is currently in my local dealership and has been for the past 3 days for a creaky sunroof. I bought it from them last November and expect the work to be done under the 2nd hand 1 year warranty, but apparently the delay is down to wrangling between the service dept and the sale dept to work out if this does indeed come under warranty. Sad555 and 137699, were you in similar situations and do you have any more details that might help me? Or would you be willing to mailbox me the details of the garages you went to? Thanks
  14. Hi Llanigraham, fancy meeting you here...
  15. Hi I've been creeping round the forum for a while and though it about time to say hello! I got a 2nd hand 62 plate Yeti 4x4 2.0 Diesel (170) last November and loved driving it. I also tow a 5 berth caravan and it's been a joy to tow with too. I do have one question straight off the bat. The tow bar is a detachable swan neck type with a 7 pin socket that was already fitted to the car. When detached the socket pushes away into the bumper and a cover is clicked into place on the bumper hiding it all. The indicators beep when hitched up, and all the lights work correctly as they should, however I don't think the car has been reprogrammed to tow as the Amunsden display still shows the back of the car when hooked up and the reverse sensors constantly beep. This could mean the ESC isn't programmed to adapt to towing either. Would this be a big issue? I've towed to Scotland and back and the whole setup felt completely stable and controllable - so I don't really feel the need to splash out with money I don't have if I don't have to. Does anyone know if the reprogramming for towing actually makes a great deal of difference? Thanks
