  1. Don't worry! No springs come flying off. Just remove the 5 Torx screws and the wind deflector is attached on both sides, which allows you to pivot the wind deflector out of the way. This gives you full access to the troublesome joints. Just keep any water off the roof whilst undertaking the repair. The longer you can take on the repair the better chance of success. Just remember, keep the car dry throughout.
  2. Yep, same thing happened to me earlier this year. Failed rear ABS sensor. Not sure if ABS would have worked correctly for me in an emergency but driving the car home (I was enroute on a long journey) I just took it easy until the sensor was replaced.
  3. Hi, hopefully you can download this pdf file. Keeping the car dry during the treatment and 'less is more' Captain Tolley's (i.e lots of small doses) is critical to success. Yeti Panoramic Roof Leak.pdf
  4. The pictures on the attachment clearly show a different type of sunroof to the Yeti version. I have not seen any similar tape repair options for the yeti, except for taping permently shut the panoramic roof from the outside. The attachment mentions "stress fractures" If you look at the original posters comments. It appears the Yeti's pan roof problems arise from the weakness in the joint between, where metal meets plastic, not from stress fractures to frame/cassette. Concentrate your sealant in that area, and as original poster united232 stresses, "the area must be kept totally dry". Speaking from experience (I used Captain Tolley's) this repair is more effective the longer you take and following that old saying "less is more" when dripping the sealant into the joint. Also remember, if working outside in winter, the sealant takes a lot longer to set. It took me many days, dosing once a day (might get away with twice a day in warmer summer months). Also worth checking your drainage tubing is securely attached/sealed, as I had a drip coming from there as well. Good luck on your efforts to sort.
  5. I hope you sort this out Karpayn. Having myself experienced water ingress, i know it can be very stressful, never mind the damage it can potentially do to the interior, if not addressed. Good luck identifying the problem.
  6. Are you sure it's not from the sunroof? Have you dropped/felt inside the roof lining? Is it dry? If wet - is it a drain tube come loose, or has the 'new' cassette failed? I had my 'leaking' sunroof cassette changed and the design on the replacement looked identical. If my observations are correct, then what's to stop the replacement leaking. Hope I am wrong, by the way.
  7. https://www.birkenheadpowdercoatings.co.uk/ Pleased with price and excellent.job. Only minor gripe was they weren't ready when I arrived at agreed time to collect. Had to wait a while. Not a major issue though, once I saw the wheels! 😀
  8. Hi Ken. I did exactly like you are planning. Had them done whilst my Yeti was wearing it's winter wheels. Had them done about 16 months ago. Cost was £200 for all four wheels and included acid bath clean, repairs (they were minimal) and powder coating (choice of paint finish). Excellent job
  9. Had mine powder coated. So much better than the diamond cut, lacquer jobs!
  10. This Gen 5 service kit is a bit expensive but problem solved on O ring sizes etc. Good customer service from supplier, very helpful on phone, with any queries. https://www.awesomegti.com/genuine-vw-haldex-gen-5-service-kit/
  11. These will work just fine. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/392602828582
  12. Hi Jo I have a 4x4 Yeti, albeit a L&K 2.0 TDI 170 manual. However mine doesn't make a whining noise at 60 mph! The 4x4 haldex system only engages when the front wheels lose grip, which would not be the case whilst cruising at 60mph. I think the seller is 'fobbing you off'. Might it be a wheel bearing or tyre problem??
  13. I used this to successfully remove the water from my foot well. Worth every penny. https://www.screwfix.com/p/titan-ttb350vac-1300w-16ltr-wet-dry-vacuum-cleaner-240v/36516?tc=CT6&ds_kid=92700023756795215&gclsrc=aw.ds&ds_rl=1241687&ds_rl=1245250&ds_rl=1243318&gclid=CjwKCAiAlO7uBRANEiwA_vXQ-86pK0-7SFZf0a6p_gaFMYQJLgv7F9k6BxOIonjOb0HoIP10twI1HBoC4DgQAvD_BwE
  14. I have a late 2014 L&K. It had the same problem, when two and a half years old - with water coming down the A Pillar into the drivers footwell. Fault was down to faulty seal/gasket on sunroof, not anything to do with drains design, specification/part change etc. My Yeti was not the only one my dealer had to sort with the same problem.
