Oil Warning Message - Please Reduce Oil Level. Workshop!
Interesting. Our light has not come on since the oil change, but electrical gremlins in general have been a problem for our successive Karoqs over the last 7 years.

Oil Warning Message - Please Reduce Oil Level. Workshop!
Final Update: I had the scheduled oil change done 2,500 miles early to remove the diesel contamination. Then it struck me, back in summer 2024 whilst on holiday I used Eco-mode for the first time and my wife, who drives the car day to day, has used it most of the time since including numerous short journeys from cold of 1-3 miles. This "rising oil level" problem only started, we feel, since using Eco-mode. There must be something in that?

Oil Warning Message - Please Reduce Oil Level. Workshop!
Update on the original post: Having checked the oil level on a perfectly flat surface, engine cold, it is at but not over the upper marker on the dipstick. Next drive the warning light and message had gone. I spoke to the dealer and a technician said it was ok to drive, oil change due in 2,700 miles. Next, I took the car out for an 80 mile mid-evening sports mode Italian tune-up Any more warnings I will get the oil change sooner. In truth the car will be changed for a petrol hybrid in a couple of years, perhaps another Karoq if they finally launch one, if not a Sportage or Tucson, so ultimate longevity of this diesel engine is not my greatest concern. The only reason I bought a diesel again was because it was the only sensible 4x4 option, needed because of a hilly home location and elderly dependents who need us whatever the weather.

I certainly wouldn't own another one!

True, but I did search before asking clearly not using the PRECISE wording, eh?

Thanks, I have had a poke around YouTube and get it now. Short journeys not getting the oil hot and stopping the car mid regen cycle means the diesel goes into the sump, hence rising (contaminated) oil level. The question now is take it for a very long run or get the oil changed?

Thanks, but could you elaborate on "interrupted/incomplete regens"? What does that mean and what would cause it? The car is coming up to 3 years old, only done 20K miles.

Oil Warning Message - Please Reduce Oil Level. Workshop!
The above warning came up on our 2.0TDI Karoq yesterday and is still there. The bizarre thing is that it has had no oil added since the last service. I just checked the oil and it is at the top of the range on the dipstick, maybe slightly above allowing for a slight slope. Being winter it has only had short journeys since New Year, 1-5 miles typically. Could it be a little water contamination that would "burn off" with a long run? If not I am stumped as to how at least 5K miles since the last service and definitely no oil added since, this warning should suddenly now appear.

MY21 1.5TSI DSG SEL 2 weeks in!
No, it's the SE model, the very first customer bought Karoq on British roads the dealer reckoned*, and it came with 17"s. * I collected it before the official launch date and they got a mild bollo**ing apparently.

It copes very well on 17" wheels and in the rare snow we have had since taking ownership it did very well indeed on the steep hills that surround us - very sure footed. Not as good as a Freelander Mk1 we once owned, but the Karoq doesn't break down once a month Comparable to the Honda CRV that followed the Freelander junk that we kept 10 years and 120K miles without a single significant fault.

We bought our Karoq 2.0 DSG 4X4 SE in Quartz Grey from Marshalls Croydon 3 years ago and agree, they are an outstanding dealership. Our previous Yeti was from there too. The roads around here are awfully potholed, whilst Croydon Council is now bankrupt, so our 17" wheels on the SE are a blessing. I have just replaced the front tyres after 23K miles and the new Continental all-weathers have improved matters further. Our car's getting a full 4 hour valet on Tuesday morning, to restore it to showroom condition for another couple of years or so of happy and classy motoring.

2018 Karoq 4X4 SE - Weak Headlights
Thanks, I will try some new bulbs. "Yellow" is a very good description of the light. It's my wife's car day to day. I have a 3 Series Touring with LED lights and the difference almost is night and day. The Warranty extension was £349 for 12 months, unlimited annual mileage, with a cover and renewal limit of 100,000. Car has only done 24K with Covid cutting 2020 to just 3K, so potentially plenty more years of ownership. I couldn't contemplate DSG without a warranty in place.

2018 Karoq 4X4 SE - Weak Headlights
We have had our Karoq SE 4X4 for nearly three years now, our dealer reckons it was the very first customer bought Karoq on British roads. It has been a great purchase, even better than the Yeti it replaced and I have just made the balloon payment and extended the warranty. The only thing I can fault it on is the headlights which are very weak on low beam, to the extent I even wonder if they are on sometimes. My question then: Is it possible to fit brighter bulbs than the standard fit or is it feasible to upgrade at realistic cost to LED?
