  1. Hi, thanks for replying. Yup engine gets serviced at the 1 year / 9000 miles servicing interval and is all up to date with all filters etc. DSG box has had oil and filter changed at 37k, 74k and car is currently on 109k so due again shortly. I have it changed at max intervals of 37.5k as my service book says 60000km / 37500mls.
  2. Good morning all. Had a glitch with the car last night that when switching between drive and reverse the car was jolting and then the engine just died / stalled. Turned it off and back on again and seems fine now but not sure what that would be? I assume gearbox related. It’s a 2.0 TDI DSG automatic.
  3. Hi guys. Got an intermittent problem with my Columbus system where sometimes the screen doesn’t turn on and nothing works, but the cd will still eject so it seems to have power. if I leave it a while then when I next start the car it’ll turn on as normal. Any ideas please? thanks.
  4. Yeh no worries, didn’t think it would be but I meant I need to do some updates anyway. Sorry for the confusion 👍
  5. Okay thanks. Needs new maps anyway 👍
  6. Thanks. I couldn’t find it in settings anywhere, I’ll keep looking.
  7. Hi all. ive got a standard Columbus dvd head unit in the car. On the radio screen it shows the name of the station and the time, is there any way to display the additional scrolling info of the radio station such as the DJ and name of the track?
  8. No problem. Replacing the condenser fixed the problem, the metallic noise was caused by low gas level in the system that led to the gas boiling inside the evaporator inside the car.
  9. yeh the part works fine and looks fine, I just don’t like paying money for a genuine part and potentially getting a cheaper copy that’s all. The difference in price wasn’t worth me complaining or putting the car back together with the old broken part, I just wanted to let people know in the future to be aware if you buy from autodoc. 😊
  10. It was from Autodoc which gav_is_con bought his from.
  11. Thanks all. Changed DSG thermostat and all sorted, car heats up a lot quicker now. I tested the old one and it was still operating but wouldn’t fully close like the new one does. Only thing I will say is that I ordered a mahle original from autodoc which was more expensive and the one I received had the manufacturer and serial numbers filed off so I’m not convinced I didn’t get a cheaper copy...
  12. Ok thanks. That a big job? I think there are other threads on that topic already.
  13. Hi all. So I have a Skoda 2.0 tdi dsg and as the weather gets colder then understandably it takes longer for the engine to get up to temp, but I am worried it’s taking too long and will damage my engine. On really cold days (last winter) it can take up to 10 miles to get up to 90 degrees, although once there it sits bang on 90 for the rest of the journey. It may be a stuck open thermostat which I can replace but I thought I’d ask on here first to see if its normal as it’s a dsg so sits at low revs, and all the roads near me are 50mph roads where the engine sits around 1500rpm with not many hills. Does this seem overly long for my engine to warm up? Thanks.
  14. Yeh maybe. I thought they were the same, not had a change a bulb yet so not had to look in detail at it.
  15. I thought that the DRLs doubled as the fog lights? If so, if you want your headlights on at the same time as your DRLs, then turn on your fog lights (although I think there’s something in the Highway Code about not doing that when it’s not foggy)
  16. That’s cool (excuse the pun) as the gas has all left the car then it’s likely to be a leak in the system and not the pump. My father in law used to be a mechanic and refrigerant engineer so on his knowledge we’ve changed the condenser.
  17. So turns out my car is still broken. All the gas has escaped out the system so must be a leak, going to try putting in a new condenser tomorrow.
  18. Just had this fixed - it just needed a re-gas. Apparently when it gets low then the gas can prematurely boil inside the heater matrix inside the car which causes the loud metallic sound i could hear. All fixed (although I think £96 for a re-gas is a bit steep!)
  19. Thanks everyone. I had full wheel alignment when I changed the tyres a few months ago and it drives straight, I guess it’s just one of those things.
  20. Thanks for that. The noise isn’t coming from under the engine where the compressor is, and the gas pipe leaving the compressor gets hot which suggests it is working, so I think it’s inside. Like you said though the noise goes away when it’s just the fan so really not sure.
  21. That’s fair enough. I used to have black circle own brand and never had this problem 😂
