  1. I would say it's much noisier, but I'm one of those people who's very picky.
  2. Ahm, there is same suspension across all options? The difference is that L&K comes with DCC as "standard" while its optional on others. But the noise wise its the same suspension setup. You don't get double wishbone suspension with DCC for example... Noise wise newer model years have extra noise insulation, but otherwise they're exact same cars just more equipment.
  3. I would love laminated glass as aftermarket but its soooo expensive... Its like few grand for Superb. On my V90 since I done even extra noise insulation, the only noise left are windows. And I don't know if I want to spend few thousand euro on perfectly fine windows. Tho it would make car deadly silent
  4. At home yes. In cars yes and no. My V90 Bowers & Wilkins sub is not sub at all. Its like a "shaker" that shakes car chassis to create deep tones. The same works with most "subs" in cars.. Except those you buy extra which do have MDF hard chassis. If resonance would be a problem, why some cars have subs in spare wheel? it shakes like every thing... not just air.. You had to turn down sub to get same level as it was before noise insulation? now that sounds really really wrong.... Well whatever suits you I guess. I tested this really thoroughly and my ears found any sort of extra butyl on speaker chassis really bad influence. There is reason why skoda uses plastic instead of MDF on these subs. Its not the price as some people may think. Anyway. as long as you're happy and your ears are happy! 😃 That's the point of it all. This is B&W Subwoofer (whole sound system is 3700€ extra cost). Looks pretty weird and nothing special. the exhaust of sub is actually turned outside of the car in rear wheel arch.. This was made so air doesn't move in the car, but only chassis of the car. its really strange way of doing it but it sounds awesome...
  5. That's exactly what I meant yeah... this heavily reduces subwoofer bass because it basically stops vibrations (sound) which is what sub is made for. 200w on this sub is now like 100w.If not less. And deeps are just as deep as the membrane can make. Anyway if you prefer it this way its your choice. I didn't like it at all. It was also not any deeper as before. Just much much quieter. What made my sub deeper and better sounding, was removing the cover or adding a lot of noise insulation on the cover it self. so it didn't create extra noise. I had same issue in Volvo because where there subwoofer there is battery and its cover. And that fixed the problem. I did actually noise insulation on whole V90.
  6. Adding anti-vibration mads on Goood job! The only thing I really need to point out, that's really wrong is adding anti-vibration pads on subwoofer. The deeps are not better because you did that, but because sub is not doing its job. The point of these subs is that whole chassis is used as "vibration" device and when you add anti-vibration pads you basically stop the vibration which is creating the sound in the first place. If this was normal sub, the chassis would be stiff and would not create any vibrations it self. I was testing this theory a lot on the Canton sub and I tried various positions of deadening material and more and less and I've realized that it kills sub to add material on there. Just my opinion, if you believe it's better well ok . I upgraded sub later and added AMP and it was far superior then. But was a lot of extra work.
  7. That's a real stupid idea for multiple reasons... You can have a lot of issues with electronics / engine in long run. I suggest against this stupid idea...
  8. I just squeezed foam for normal seats (cheap as hell) to anywhere it would fit in B pillar. And noise from pillar was 0. If at the time foam solution in aerosol wouldn't be as expensive, I'd go for that and fill all gaps. Its probably still expensive. TEROSON PU 9500 foam that's probably far top solution.
  9. There will never be "new" solution to this problem. VW/Skoda use very soft bushings which due to their material create noise. When greased with special grease they quiet down. Replacing them with harder bushes is the solution, but you will feel bumps more and its aftermarket thing. Warranty should not be affected.
  10. That's possible. I did a lot of extra noise insulation on my Superb and the sound was improved highly after spending 30 hours and approx. 400€. in reducing noise. But my primary concern is the price difference in cars. It's just very hard to compare. Skoda is so cheap compared to Volvo, that its impossible to compare sound systems in general. A lot of sound depends on other factors than just amplifier/speaker. Like positions of speakers, the way it moves air (I have some real annoying "rattles" in my V90 when you listen music really loud, I never had that in Superb with 1200w subwoofer and man it was SHAKING...), etc... So a lot depends on car itself right. Anyway, I love my new V90... But it's far from perfect. It slightly lacks noise insulation (in this matter, I'm sort of sorry I didn't go for MY19 E class, it has superb noise insulation), there are some rattles (panoramic sunroof is driving me nuts, once this Corona thing is gone, I have to replace rails where sunroof sits in as those have "play" so there is noise over bumps) and fuel consumption is bit high. But other than that I'm extremely satisfied. Sound system is just 😎, transmission with polestar optimization is perfect, engine pulls like crazy with 240hp, AWD works superb in snow/dirt (extensive test), navigation works well, suspension is nice (not as comfortable as DCC on Superb/Audi though, feels bit "stiffer"), seats are amaaazing (drove 1540km to Denmark, no problems with anything), lights are superb and so on... Its great improvement over Skoda, but the costs are hard to justify. If I wouldn't love cars so much, idk if this would be my choice
  11. See I would totally disagree. I loved my Canton is Superb. I have V90 with Bowers & Wilkins now that cost wooping 3700€ as extra. Compared to 500€ on Canton, it's not worth the price difference. It's better, far better. but 3200€ for car audio? Hmm... Canton vs standard speakers, how the heck can you compare that? The difference is HUGE there... I wonder what you listen to, Stereo FM? :O... Using flac/high quality mp3 files, Canton was superb for the price... P.S.: Um I'm talking about Standard Canton. The iV one I would say without Sub it's much worse, as the only thing that I hated in my Superb was lack of punch in bass, so I upgraded subwoofer later on too. P.P.S.: Before someone miss understoods me, I'm talking about various cars and various speaker systems. In Superb Canton is best u can get in Octavia canton is not as good. But 500€ price for such speaker system is not a lot. If you buy home Hi-fi in good quality you will pay over 2.000€ as well. I have very expensive audio at home. But at home I will keep it 30 years. In car when I replace car sound system goes away... Bowers in my Volvo sounds SUPERB. It really is something out of this world, even my home audio is just little better and I spent twice as much. But we're talking about really expensive car here compared to Skoda. Most people buy Skoda for their "price - money" performance, not because its the best. So its same for the audio system....
  12. Funny my V90 has zero noises under -14°C 😛. I truly wonder how VW/Skoda doesn't address this noise issues after soooo many complaints from customers. I've seen VW forums filled with these noise issues not to mention my dealer is like, yeah this is standard issue, we'll fix it. And I listened to the noise for months before they applied another "fix". This ruined experience for me so badly that I can't put in words. Like if its soo known issue, why they dont grease bushings out of factory the same way? Or do something about it? With my Superb each noise took months to repair. I bought new car to avoid all the issues/noises/crap. I had various issues from the start and they lasted months.
  13. It's same issue. The only difference in Active/Non-active suspension noise was rear hydraulic bushings which created slight "knocking sound". Front groaning and "squeaky" suspension noises come from wishbones basically the bushings material. In theory aftermarket bushings can fix the issue permanently. But they need to be "stiffer" hance the car would defo feel a bit stiffer. I can guarantee this because I've replaced bushings on my Superb twice including rear hydraulic ones and I also fixed the issue permanently on my mothers Octavia (with exactly the same issue, as its over whole VW group, Passat, Golf, Superb and Octavia, maybe even further, but those I can confirm) by replacing original VW bushings with harder aftermarket ones, suggested by my non-OEM mechanic. This issue can also be solved by special grease which VW/Skoda dealers usually apply. In my case on Superb they applied it very very heavily after 2nd bushings were replaced. That solved the issue for a year (then I sold the car). I watched each work there in the shop, because I wanted to see how they're repairing my car. I'm one of those people who does not trust other mechanics and I also love knowing how all this works/is done.
  14. Actually the Active and Non-active use the same components (these that create noise). The only difference are dampers. So having two threads makes no sense. Bushings, Anti-roll bars, wishbones that's all the same. Noise comes from those not the dampers.
  15. From my experience (I took whole interior apart for noise insulation), I would say If your truly want Canton VERY much its totally doable. But the price will be 1000€+ and not as factory option and it will require really heavy work. Basically there are power lines that go from battery to Canton amplifier (under driver's seat), then from there you need extra wires for center speaker (not sure if non-canton dashboard is made the same way) and sub in trunk (2 set of wires, sub uses 2 coils, so needs 4 wires total). Then the door speaker wires are probably not the same thickness, but that shouldn't be that big of an issue. Then you need two extra wires for "middle" in front doors. I also believe front door panels are not same, so you need to replace those as well. Then you need to wire optical wire from "media" in passenger compartment to amplifier. You need to replace all existing speakers with Canton obviously and that should be it. Then you can code Canton in (VCDS or VCS) and voila. If you ask me, getting new speakers in existing holes and purchasing additional sub which would go into space of replacement tyre, is cheaper option and can sound not far off.
  16. If you unplug battery, there is no light on dash am I right? I never got mine when disconnecting the instrument cluster, after disconnecting battery of course. Might work for the seats too? But the seats you need to move to get to the bolts no?
  17. Mine was never gone until I sold the car. Now the Volvo has zero issues with suspension noise. I had DCC however, but after wishbones were changed, noise was gone for about a week or two, then the noise was back. They applied some sort of paste and I had zero squeaks for year and 6 months. So it lasted long time. But, while the "squeaking" was gone, there was always suspension noise present. Basically over bumps the suspension softly knocked (that was in the "spec" of the car) and the knocks were clear on the "offroads" like small stones/gravel. I went to dealer at least 8x for the same issue, it was never fixed. I was really dissapointed by dealer and skoda. This is my main reason to replace the car. Noises. P.S.: My mother has same issues with Octavia (non-dcc). Suspension wishbones replaced 4x under warranty in 5 years ownership. Squeaking was never gone. It was just "quieter". Dealer said many times noise isn't there, we drove together, noise was there, they said they'll fix it, they never did. Honestly another huge disappointment. My family friends have 5 years old Passat. Exact same issues, after 4th passat with which they drove over 2 million KM (all cars together) they are never getting another VW group car again. Shame.
  18. If you look at your car just a thing to get you from point A to point B at minimal running costs/fuel costs, Superb is defo a way to go. But, if you want luxury BMW will not let you down. I bought fully packed Superb 2 years ago and after 2 years of adding noise insulation, fixing various rattles, suspension noises, etc... I've given up. I'm very "picky" about cars and I want them to run quiet, issues free and Superb was not that for me. I was probably unlucky owner but heck it happens. So I went to test drive (over weekend) BMW 520d and 530d (2017 model) and I got to say BMW is huge step up in quality. You hear zero noise from suspension, general noise insulation is amazing (engine/road noise is barely there), seats are more comfortable, steering wheel is very light in normal driving mode, suspension deals very great with bumps (best is to get adjustable/electronically managed struts or even air suspension). My Superb was manual so I can not compare the gearbox, but BMW uses torque converter which allows certain things that DSG does not (like Super slow parking/hill climb) which I just loved. The 8 speed auto is also fast and unnoticeable and also cheap to run compared to DSG where you need to replace oil every 60K km (however BMW says that transmission oil is forever, I'd still replace oil every 90k km). The software in BMW is also faster as the processing power is just better. But for the price difference that's just normal. It should be. Value based, Superb is better buy in any view you look at it. But if you WANT luxury and can't settle for less, BMW is the way to go. I bought Volvo V90 D5 instead of BMW, but I still stand by my thoughts. Beemer is good choice.
  19. Can you legally drive that? When I asked for "permission" from dealer in Slovenia to get "legal worthy" paper for 245 tires on upgraded Pegasus Alloys ET44 / R18 - 235mm standard I was told its not possible to get this alloy/tires legally on road as its not safe. I'm just wondering if in other countries that works differently? Or am I missing something?
  20. Diesel vs Petrol has pluses and minuses like everything in this awesome world. Polluting wise, diesels are not as terrible as a lot of people claim. However it does depend on usage. For city driving diesel is defo worse as the engine/dpf/etc never gets hot enough to burn the "bad" particles that diesel produces. But outside city like on Highways diesel will always win. Not just because of low consumption but also the durability, torque (low revs at high speeds, quiet and refined drive (I'm not talking about 110kph speed limits, but autobahn 140-200kph)) etc... I always preferred diesel over petrol but I can not say that petrol is terrible or anything like that. I actually like refinement of the petrol and the quietness on standstill. But my Superb diesel was just awesome. Now on Volvo I have very high consumption and since of the auto that volvo has, diesel vs petrol is so close that I could see myself switching to petrol easily. The consumption on this car is just too high for diesel. But back to point, Superb, was amazing with 190hp engine. I could easily get 4.3-5L consumption per 100km. So my pros for Diesel: - Lower torque range - Very quiet highway driving at higher speeds - Low fuel consumption - Less maintenance required - Cheaper fuel (diesel is cheaper here) Cons: - Noisier engine in idle - More vibrations across all RPM range - Potentially more issues if DPF/Adblue system fails - For city driving pollutions are higher I do about 20K-40K km a year, so diesel is way better choice for me. Diesel bans are happening for old highly polluting diesels, so I would not worry about that until all new cars are electric. P.S.: If you doubt my conclusions regarding highway/reliability ask yourself why trucks and heavy duty vehicles that do a lot of mileage / work are literally all diesels. P.P.S.: I've read somewhere in topic that diesels are more sensitive to the fuel you put in, that's very very wrong. Actually the petrol is much more sensitive but the thing is that petrol quality control is better than diesel. But you can run diesel on refined cooking oil in which you fried your chips.
  21. Behind bends like this one where camera doesn't see what's behind bend? Well I've driven multiple cars to confirm my experience so what you just wrote I find very strange. My Superb was MY18 and the ones I drove also 18/19... My Volvo brings up lights immediately after the bend but my point was how fast it drops the high beam behind a bend. In that case I was very unlucky with the Superb's I've driven.
  22. This is what I was talking about. On Superb the Bus would pass by before headlights would dip. Also Volvo has mechanical parts not actual matrix lights see on video.
  23. Thanks 😃! It looks like Volvo community is far worse than briskoda, which is truly amazing to be honest (Briskoda community I mean). I hope there is no bad feelings for my posts, I know I may sound aggressive on times, but I wasn't meant to be. I just wanted to make a point. Apologies if it felt that way.
  24. How many people flash you is truly crappy benchmark to how SLA works. People that you dazzle in rear can not flash you back.. I did about 71.000km with my Superb, I did about 2000-3000km with other Superbs (testing, replacement while mine was on service) and I did now about 12.000km on Volvo V90. My conclusion was that SLA works, but only in perfect conditions, straight road, camera having good visibility, other people must have very good red rear lights otherwise car doesn't detect them, no hard bends as in those camera needs 1-2 seconds to react (not to move motors!) which means that opposing car already passes by. Other than that it works fine. But like I said, if car doesn't work 99/100 cases, the system can be dangers and it voids exactly what it was meant for! Dazzles full adaptive high beams!!! Like I said, no system is perfect, but Volvo's and Audi's is much better and doesn't do 1-2 sec reaction times. Im truly done with attempting explaining my point to you as you all just see me whine about SLA as it being faulty. I didn't have faulty SLA. The Superb has either slow processor to process traffic or the Camera simply sucks. For the price you pay its amazing true. But for the performance I've had from it, its more dangers than good and I would never buy it again on 2015-2019 Superb. If I ever buy another Superb (not happening anytime soon) I will defo get one with adaptive Matrix Headlights. But compared to higher priced brands it sadly not as good and this sort of feature should be. Materials in car, Engine options, Suspension, etc... obviously can't match a 85.000€ car. But the assistance systems that can cause accidents like SLA (in worst possible situations of course) should be done the same quality wise. I wish you all nice day but I'm done with this topic.
