Superb Mk11 Estate Soft Close.
StephenFoster replied to StephenFoster's topic in Skoda Superb Mk II (2008-2015)
I seem to have fixed this. At minimal cost. I was able to eliminate the boot catch. So felt it was either going to be a Control Unit, or the motorised Striker Pin. As it was intermittent felt it was more likely to be the Pin. Simply replaced the motorised striker plate. Part number 4F9 827 383 G direct from China £50. Easy job. Three screws and panel clips hold the silver trim in place across the car. 2 bolts hold the striker plate in place. Electrics simply plug in so was able to test the replacement without actually installing it. All worked fine, so was able to change it over. 15 minute job. We will see how it goes. Fingers Crossed. -
Now can't open the trunk as a hatch
StephenFoster replied to Greenliner's topic in Skoda Superb Mk II (2008-2015)
Did you resolve this? Same thing is happening to my Superb Estate. From your diagram, it would appear that the tension spring is missing in mine, but haven't found a broken one in the boot. -
The soft close on my electric tailgate has started to misbehave. It closes, the motor winds it shut and latches. about 7 secs later the motor releases and the tailgate opens about 5mm. The car is still locked and the dash shows the tailgate as shut. So I don;t think the problem is in the tailgate mechanism. I feel it must be to do with the pin. Anyone had the problem? If so, what was the problem and how did you resolve it. Please see att Superb Latch Pin.mp4 ached video. Is this much play normal? I can't remember. Thanks in advance.

Return of the faulty boot struts
StephenFoster replied to williamshatnerspants's topic in Skoda Superb Mk II (2008-2015)
If you have a go at repairing, please let us know how you get on and how long it takes. Having replaced mine, I would recommend buying new trim clips for the D pillar trims as removing them does noticeably weaken the clips. -

Glad it worked for you. There was no water in mine and am intrigued to know where it can get in. As I have said, I got fed up with opening the hatch manually against the spiral drives, and was happy to risk the Pattern parts being duff. I have carefully kept the invoice, for the apparent 12 mths Warranty and I will post when they fail. PS: Miss my 3.6 4 x4 Elegance Estate. Waited ages for it to be delivered, then a young driver ran into it and wrote it off at 5 years old. -
Superb Electric Tailgate Struts

I finally bit the bullet. Bought a pair of "pattern" struts on ebay for £275 the pair inc VAT and postage, with a years warranty. Installation was a piece of cake. No special tools required. The only heart in mouth moment is pulling the "D" Pillar trims off. Well the first one anyway. Bought 10 new clips off ebay for £5 in case I lost or broke any. All working fine again. No recoding or anything needed. We shall see how long they last. PS: Though I say "Pattern" parts, the electrical connectors have VW Audi on them, exactly the same as the originals. Amazing coincidence. If you are thinking of doing the same, I will be happy to share what I learned in the process. -

Yours is probably a Mk111. Different struts, it would appear. -

March 2015. Started failing about 18 months ago. Was put off by the £350 + VAT plus fitting. I wouldn't be surprised if Stabilus are OEM part manufacturers for many car makers. -
Superb Electric Tailgate Struts

Sometimes would open but not close. Sometimes open part way. Finally when opened it only rises about 6 inches (excuse the pun). A VW specialist and local garage have diagnosed faulty struts. Am looking at Stabilus https://www.stabilus.com/products/electric-motor-drives. They supply Daimler and VW. £260 inc VAT per pair 2 year warranty. I think I will give them a try. -

Thanks Sasha, delving even deeper, I have found ones made by Stabilus https://www.stabilus.com/products/electric-motor-drives for approx £260 inc VAT with 2 years warranty. Researching their website, I wouldn't be surprised if they produce OEM units for car manufacturers. it says Daimler and VW are customers. PS: Love the colour of your Superb. -
Since mine failed, I'm getting fed up with lifting and closing the tailgate. Has anyone tried the pattern parts advertised on ebay at £249.99 a pair? And as they are available singly do they both need replacing? At approx £350 + VAT each for Skoda parts plus fitting, I was put off replacing them, but at £250 the pair plus fitting by my local garage, I'm tempted to try the pattern parts.

My 2015 Superb Estate Tailgate issues:- Firstly when closing, stopped half way intermittently. Close it manually. Open it electrically, worked fine. Close it electrically, stopped half way. Went through the setting/resetting routine. Worked fine. Then started to only open halfway. Press the button. Closed fine. Now opens part way. Press button to close, just gives rapid beeps. Pressing and holding the button does not bring up reset signal. Can't help thinking it is connected to the Control Module. Can they become corrupted? Can they be reset? If not the Control Module, I will downgrade to Gas Struts. Presumably electric struts are used on other VW brands. Wonder if they have same problems.

Recently, my November 2011 3.6 V6 Estate, 50k miles, owned from new, was involved in an accident. Not my fault. I now need to establish a figure to reinstate me, to negotiate with the Insurers and Third Party. I can't find one for sale, Does anyone know of one for sale? or have documentary evidence of a recent sale price?
