  1. If you were considering going with a Skoda dealer, check with them where the work is going to be done. My one just drives them around to the well regarded independent towbar specialist around the corner and adds a mark up!
  2. I’ve now bought 4 new Gemini 18s (online from Wings Skoda..all very efficient) and had cross climate 2s fitted. The Xtremes are therefore now on eBay. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/vRS-xtreme-19-alloys-wheels-x4-tyres-Skoda-VW-group-Audi-Seat-225-35-19-/115150325041?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&_trksid=p2349624.m46890.l49286&mkrid=710-127635-2958-0
  3. I have the xtreme alloy on my 2017 VRS 245, I've actually been looking at changing them for the vrs 18s so I can put crossclimate tyres on the car as we'll be driving out to the Alps (hopefully) this winter.
  4. You can buy whenever you like, but you have to factor in the early termination fees (50% of remaining lease payments). Whilst VWFS insisted it had to be kept separate they did reduce their final offer to fully offset the termination fee. They came down significantly over a few weeks of discussions. No doubt helped by the great lease deal too, but the total I paid for my 245 (with dsg, panoramic roof, keyless and a couple of smaller options) was almost exactly £20k. That includes the total paid under the lease plus what I paid to the buy it outright. I think there was a big element of luck in timing as used car values were in freefall then and they clearly need to get some cash in.
  5. Yep, exactly this. I'm notoriously bad for getting bored with cars, so leasing also kept my costs down as had to keep it for lease duration. Still no where near finished with my 67 plate 245 vRS. Made VWFS a very cheeky offer in April /first lockdown (my 3 year lease was due to be up in Sept!) and they took it. Definite keeper.
  6. My lease is up in September, so a bit yet... but already thinking about what to do. Don't think I'm going to buy it... it's been great, but agree too tempting to make full use of the performance. Not a fan of the wheels. Particularly after hitting a rock today on a country road, puncturing both nearside tyres. Front one only had 2000 miles wear. Unless I can get another absolute no brainer lease deal think I'm going to buy an older estate (£5k - £10k) as doing less and less mileage, and no longer use it for most holidays as have bought a motorhome, so seems silly to be paying out £250 a month.
  7. Thanks for the tip re: the batteries, I look to replace them with that type next time. I knew there was a way of locking them with the key, but it wasn't immediately obvious and I didn't have time to look at the handbook before catching the train. It's a regular journey so I cut it fine. I read about how to do it, on my phone, as the train was pulling out of the station.
  8. Experienced this earlier in the week (had to leave my 245 vRS unlocked in a train station car park all day 😬) I have keyless on my Octavia and the battery in my key fob died on Tuesday without warning. Started the car, drove half an hour to the station. Stopped car, wouldn't lock, fob completely dead. No time to read handbook / search how to do it manually, so left car and bought a new battery before I came back. Subsequent searches have shown it's a common problem and it's highly recommended to change batteries every year. I've checked both spare fobs (unused, in a drawer well away from the car) and both were dead too!
  9. I'm averaging 31 in mine (2 yrs , 20k miles). Mid 30s on a longish run. Wife has started driving it regularly now and was doing high 30s for the first week or so, but now down to lower 30s as she's starting enjoying it! Just wish it had a larger tank as filling it every 300 miles or so, is a bit of a faff.
  10. Mine doesn't either. Perhaps fart expectations differ?!
  11. No wind noises from mine at all, despite my best efforts!
  12. The way it's written, in the lease agreement for mine anyway, is open to interpretation I believe I can replace with anything that meets the size and speed rating. Not that I'm advocating any budget rubber on one of these. I know others interpret their's to mean it has to be an exact like for like replacement. Be interesting to hear if anyone has had any comeback from handing a vwfs lease back with a different brand of tyres on it.
  13. Not disagreeing with you. I was pleased to find a spare wheel had been spec'd on mine. That said (touching wood) I've not used a spare wheel in 24 years and 100ks miles. I'm not sure I'd choose seat trim based on the likelihood of it fading though. There's so much to go expensively wrong on this car there's no chance of me keeping it longer than the lease / warranty period. (you've now got me looking at things half empty !)
