  1. Yes mine used to do that, which was annoying. The latest update has fixed that on my vRS. You can look in notifications to see what's going on btw.
  2. Hello everyone, Has anyone been able to update the door mirrors to include traffic awareness indicator lights please? John
  3. Hello, John, I've just purchased one of these to play MP3 files from a USB stick into the Bolero radio, Its got Bluetooth so a phone can be connected as well. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/313689220180 John
  4. Hello All, I am wondering if there is a "Skoda Upgrade path" for the Bolero radio or is it replace completely? I've tried MP3 files which the CD drive in the radio reads but its not very successful in cramming more than 21 maybe 25 tracks onto. It currently has a 6 CD changer in the boot which I'd like to retain and be able to use. There is NO Aux connection. I'd like to retain the use of the 6 CD Changer if possible. A USB connection to which I could plug in a Sony music player. Blue tooth. An integrated CD in the head unit. etc etc. Thanks in advance if anyone has any useful comments with pictures perhaps of their Head/Radio units mounted in the dash please. John
  5. My vRS Fuel cap allows 95 Unleaded to be used as an alternative to 98 Ron. From the answers above it looks like the BWA engine and fuel line components are covered. Thank you all for your informative replies.
  6. Thanks shyVRS245 for your information. I was wondering which components are affected in the fuel supply line and if there might be an upgrade path as there are a lot of these engines in use today.
  7. Hello to Everyone who reads this post. With the introduction early next year of 10% Ethanol in Unleaded Petrol. I have read that larger Petrol stations will supply both E5 and E10 unleaded juice and that 98 Ron (Super unleaded will stay at E5). It goes without saying that E10 will come to the fore though. I have read that a number of VW/Skoda/Seat cars will not be compatible with this fuel. Currently I am lead to believe that my BWA 2006 engined vRS will NOT comply. I assume that either I get rid of the car or put it in a museum (ha ha) or run it on E5 98 Super unleaded. Unless anyone knows of another solution. Thanks for any interest and comments in advance. John
  8. Hello J.R. Thanks for your reply. The CANM8 was supplied by CANNECT and its for a Skoda Octavia II 2004 - 2013 specifically for HIGHBEAM connections. The CANM8 box relay has 5 wires (Canbus hi (Orange Green trace) and lo (Orange Brown trace) wires) above plus a Positive fused feed and Negative earth plus the feed to operate the switch for the lights which would in order activate the relay to turn the lights on (hopefully). I understand what you say about using the main beam to operate the relay up front but I want to be easily able to separately switch the Auxillary lights on and off inside the car. i suppose that I could run a cable to and from the Main beam connection In and out of the car to the switch? That said getting through the bulkhead looks to be a bit of a pain.
  9. Octavia mk2 vRS 2006. I would like to access the Canbus hi (Orange Green trace) and lo (Orange Brown trace) wires. The instructions which I have suggest that the wires can be accessed via the loom to/from the wiper and indicators. I was wondering if there is an easier place to get to the right cables? I need these wires in order to operate some drive lights with the main beam. Also I would like to put a cable through the bulkhead to operate the light relay, I have been thinking of passing the wire through the bonnet cable access point. Thanks in advance for any help offered.
  10. Hello All, I have an intermittent rattle coming from the engine when starting hot or cold. It sounds like the big end bearings are short of oil. I have been told that the drive to the oil pump could be on its way out, has anyone had this problem? Does anyone know of a good engine or who to recommend to supply an engine? John
  11. I have since purchased some door card retaining buttons as the originals were very brittle and fell to pieces in my hands or when fitting the card. The new ones are a completely different design but worked perfectly.
  12. Hello Everyone, I have had a problem since purchasing my vRS with the top of the drivers door card having an "ELBOW HOLE" in it. I tried stuffing the hole with foam and then a glue repair but it wasn't any good really. Recently I purchased an Octavia door card from my local scrap yard for next to no money. Today a decide to have a go at repairing it. You will see from the pictures that I removed the vRS bit from the centre using a 10 mm drill with the electric drill. It is necessary to be very careful just to take the heads off. I plugged the holes, trial fitted, then glued around the posts and used some stainless screws with washers in the holes to hold it together. I think that the Final result looks ok.
  13. Hello Langers2k, Thanks for your helpful comments. I understand better now what you are talking about. I have printed some wiring diagrams for the CANM8 For the Skoda Octavia 05 >. It shows 2 options CANM8-NAV and CANM8-WIRING. Yes I do want to add some additional lighting. Assuming that I fit one of these units which seems to make sense now. I would like to fit a relay to turn on the lights ONLY on Main beam, how do I give a feed to the relay to operate it when the Main beam is turned on? If you don't mind me asking for information that is. Thanks again John.
  14. Hello Langers2k, I presume that you are talking about replacing the Main beam bulbs, I have currently changed to Phillips Racing Vision, Main and Dip. The Dip is ok but the Main beam is not brilliant thus the reason for my question about extra lamps.
