Octavia 2 has developed a boot leak
5407-5410.jpg When I first considered this gutter area edged with the boot lid seal it was packed with bone dry clutter from the sky. I wondered where water was supposed to be accommodated. With this in mind I intend to keep it scrupulously clear of debris in the future. The rear light clusters have been removed and inspected and reinstalled. There was no evidence of water damage.

Re. the tailgate seal is a candidate for leakage. I was amazed at the amount of rubbish I found in the upper reaches esp. near and at both coiled cables in the guttering. It's obvious that Skoda have ignored these two areas.

Here's the wheel well after removing the water. Now the leak hunting fun begins.

With regard to removal of tail-light clusters - how do you do it ? I was hoping to find a tutorial on line but not all light units are the same and I didn't find mine.

Octavia 2 has developed a boot leak
I'm trying to fill the narrow gap between the badge edge and the recess with blutack just in case rain does come in here. I need to tidy up underneath.............after the car-wash yesterday I found the lid opening button underneath the badge was wet.

Thanks for lenses & struts info. I've added a photo of the water in the wheel well. My local garage is going to pump it out + I'm going to leave the wheel out of the well as long as the leaking is unsolved.

Octavia 2 has developed a boot leak
I found the wheel well has water that is touching the lower treads of the wheel. I'll add a photo tomorrow. The rubber seal top edge was damp after the car-washand I cannot work out how. I'm sorry to here about crisund123 drilling drainholes. Before I do that I'll try to stop it getting in first. The boot lid has a circular SKODA badge above the number plate, and tomorrow i'll fill the fine gap round the outside of the badge & the recess it sits in with bluetack. I'll take snaps.

I must apologise for not noting that my vehicle is a Greenline model and does not have a rear window wiper. I might also say right now that water in the spare wheel bay is a topic I least expected to cope with.......................................after all this is a SKODA !

Octavia 2 has developed a boot leak
Hello. I only experience water/dampness when it rains. I'll get it washed tomorrow while the boot interior is bone dry and look at the tailgate seal. Today I looked at the spare wheel (in the storage well) which has damp areas and the floor of the well is wet. I will remove the boot lining above the wheel to aid air movement here. It is likely the hot dry weather is here for another 2 weeks which will help further drying.

Octavia 2 has developed a boot leak
I have a 2012 Octavia 2, bought in 2013, with 10,000 recorded mileage which is 111194. The vehicle has been reliable but recently has shown signs of having water in the boot. Right now it is bone dry. I use a car port here at home. Can Briskoda tell me how water might be getting in ? I want to fix this problem before the rains return !

Thanks.

Is my garage lying to me ?
Good evening. Yes. The player performs as it used to before demanding a runnung engine and I have not heard any bongs. I give that a thumbs up. As for the chicken brew - Leave it with me. Umm......what days are you NOT there next week. I'll drop it off when I take John for a spin while he can still see trees & things.

I have good news. The cd player has performed without asking for a running engine or making any bongs. I leave it to you Brian in Blandford to decide if this is classed as a success................

Oh......what were the problems then ? As for stop start - No I will not miss it. It hasn't appeared so far and I wondered if it would. In that case I planned to turn it off. I'll report in a week.
