  1. @steevs : I could not agree more. I had a rattle coming from the left side vent (it was more a squeak than a rattle actually), which was solved by applying a light coat of silicon grease around the frame of the vent. But I still have an unidentified rattle in the driver door.
  2. Hi guys, Mine (MY17 tdi 150 L&K combi) had annoying rattles in the center of the dash too. Could hear them especially on low accelerations with load. After removal and sound insulation of various parts of the dash (including the top speaker grill, the infotainment screen, the gps module, etc, with adhesive foam tape), I finally found what was rattling on mine. It was the piano black trim fasteners along the dash but especially the one on the left of the infotainment screen (french car, so between the steering wheel and the screen, not shown in the picture below). Several clips were not secured enough on the trim pieces: they stayed in the dash when I removed the pieces. I took these clips out of the dash, secured them tightly on the trim pieces with needle nose pliers: they are now tightly fastened to the trim pieces and I have no more rattle in the center of the dash. Might not be the case for yours @M00t1 but, if you haven't tried already, it is worth giving it a go. It is costless and easy to do (I used a plastic pry tool inserted vertically between the trim pieces).
  3. Hi, I had exactly the same issue with my superb mk3 (tdi 150ps 2wd). At around 12000 kms, at the end of a long and cold journey, I had the warning light on the dashboard and message on the screen. I popped up the bonnet and the coolant level was way below the minimum, nearly invisible. The dealer came, put the car on a truck, and back to the garage. They did not find any leak (they pressure tested the circuit). They just topped up the coolant and told me the coolant circuit is so complex that a bubble can make its way out thousands of kms after the factory. Did not really trust that, checked regularly, nothing ever happened. I have now 64.000 kms.
  4. Hello ReaF! Thank you very much for your addendum. I litterally forgot to mention the two steel tabs on the sides, which need to be slid to reveal the plastic tabs underneath. Sorry you wasted some time at this stage... I could have been more precise. The plastic tabs are relatively delicate. I used 2 small screwdrivers to lift 2 of them and the other 2 with spudgers from a mobile phone repair kit. Thank you ReaF for these essential precisions. Concerning the conductive grease, I used copper grease. I guess you could use carbon based grease as well, always in a very small quantity.
  5. Hi, A couple of months ago, it became difficult to start the engine on my Super MkIII. I had to press harder on the ignition switch and/or press several times before the engine started. I tried to clean the contacts with a contact cleaner spray, without unmouting the switch; It did work better, but not for long. So, I decided to have a go at it, and it's a simple fix really. First, you need to take off the bottom cover of the steering column. There is one Torx screw underneath the steering column. Once removed, you can slide the top part towards the steering wheel, and lift it up: this part is just clipped in place. Rotate the steering wheel when you have lifted the top cover: two more Torx screws appear on each side. Unscrew them and the bottom cover will fall. Unplug the two connectors, one for the antenna, one for the switch. To get the switch out, insert two small screwdrivers from the inside of the bottom cover, in the slots on each side of the switch. It will pop off. Once you have extracted the switch, you need to open it: it is quite straight forward, 4 tabs to lift (delicately) on the top, no springs inside so nothing will jump away. This switch is build like the gaming controllers: four conductive silicone pads make contact on a copper plate. I found the silicon pads and the copper plate to be quite dirty. I cleaned them with a soft pad soaked in contact cleaner, and, after drying, applied a very light coat of conductive grease on each side. It works like a charm now, I can start the engine with the slightest touch from the tip of my pinky. Of course, the other solution is to buy a new switch, but I doubt the construction of the switch has changed and the switch is quite expensive (for what it is). But I enclose a pic of the part's references in case you need it.
  6. Hi everyone, Just wanted to share the simple fix of a problem I might not be the only one to experience. I have a S3 L&K, with the new Columbus touch screen (MY18). A few weeks ago, the bluetooth started to act funny. It disconnected and reconnected itself randomly. The problem is that it was bugging me like hell when I was talking to someone on the phone, cuz it took 15-20 seconds before my correspondent could hear me again. And it cuts the music too, when I am playing music via bluetooth. I thought it was related to the dampness in the footwells (see my other post), because it appeared roughly at the same time. But it was not related. By the way, my phone is a BlackBerry KeyOne, on android nougat. I found the solution when browsing the CrackBerry forum. So it might just be the interaction between the S3 and the KeyOne. Just in case, if another strange guy has a KeyOne like me : the solution is to go in the bluetooth device options (gear cog symbol next to the car name in the bluetooth device list) and to uncheck "Contacts" and "Messages". It has been working fine since. No disconnection during phone calls, nor when playing music via bluetooth.
  7. Thanks @SETech ! Quick update on my case: I finally dropped the car today as the garage was too busy to take my car on tuesday. It did not bother me that much as I work a couple of kilometers away from the garage. They looked at it, and called me in the afternoon: the culprit is a badly installed A/C drain. Apparently, the pipe was twisted in the factory and got clogged rapidly. They ordered a new piece and I should get my car back tomorrow. They do not plan to dry the carpets and soundproofing as it would mean a complete removal. They think moisture will slowly evaporate. They will only provide me with an antibacterial spray, to prevent bad smells during the evaporation process. Kinda odd. EDIT: the A/C drain on my car looks exactly like the one pictured above, but I don't know yet which part was twisted. I will try to know more about that tomorrow and will report.
  8. Hi there, I am new to Skoda, and this first experience is not exactly perfect. I bought my Superb Combi MkIII L&K in july. It was brand new, and has now a little more than 8.000 kms on the odo. Last sunday, as I was cleaning the car (I know, how original), I took the floor mats out. The rear passenger mat was dripping wet... It was not as bad as SEtech's car, but you could hear the squishing sound of a soaked sponge when pressing down on the carpet. I did not relate it straight away but my bluetooth connection started to become irregular a couple of weeks ago. Could it be related? I dunno... On monday, the dealer checked the sunroof drains, and they both seem to run perfectly. They had no time to take it so the the car is going back there next Tuesday. In the meantime, it did rain and that didn't seem to worsen the situation. Conversely, as I have already encountered a similar problem with a Nissan Pathfinder, I stopped using the A/C. And that did seem to work; the carpets are now noticeably drier. I also switched back on the A/C, with full fan and maximum cold, in my garage, for 10 minutes. Not a single drop of water on the floor. So maybe, it is a clogged A/C drain. But that does sound weird for a 3-month old car. The dealer plans to keep it at least 3 days. I will keep you updated.
  9. Hi everyone, Pleased to be a member of this forum, now that I am a member of the Skoda family. I am a happy owner of a Citigo Edition, and a not-so-happy owner of a Super Combi MkIII Tdi 150 Laurin&Klement. Both of them are black. Because black. I bought them both in July, and the big one has already started to fail me (but that's another subject). Apart from that, I live in France, I am a solicitor (specialised in automotive disputes), I love cars, engines, gearboxes, mechanical stuff and everything related to burning petrol in a chamber. Have a very good day, people of Briskoda! J.F.
