  1. I finally got around to picking this up. A 3x8 foot breakfast bar left about 2 foot hanging out the back. I put a folded up towel underneath the boot lid and pressed the button to stop it when it rested on it. The boot lid was bouncing up and down a little bit but it was only 4 miles home. If I do it again I’ll make sure to wedge something under the boot lid so its held nice and solid.
  2. Has anyone with an electric tailgate ever driven with it opened slightly? I need to collect an 8 foot long worktop so it will hang out the back. I’ll ratchet strap the boot lid down but don’t want to damage the mechanism. Will it disable itself when it cant fully close?
  3. Same here. Starts melting the ice in seconds

    Trip meter

My Karoq has just done 10000 miles and I’ve never reset the trip meter. On the drive home I was excitedly waiting for 10000 to roll over 9999.8, 9999.9, wait for it..... 0.0! The trip meter resets automatically at 9999.9. Now my odometer and trip meter don’t match, how annoying. I’ll have to get a new car now! 😄
  5. This video shows what’s involved on the Golf. Not sure it’s something I’d attempt myself.
  6. Plasticote spray looks easy to use if you look at youtube videos but I’ve not tried it myself. I bought some black chrome vinyl wrap for my badge but haven't braved it yet!
  7. If one wheel is not running straight this could pull the car out of alignment and cause the tyres to wear. This is why an ADAS calibration is required after any suspension adjustments. There are 3 values to look at on a wheel alignment check; camber, caster and toe. Any of these can affect the handling and tyre wear. SUV tyres can wear on the outside just because there is taller weight making the car roll over onto the outside of the tyres.
  8. I debadged my lettering, looks much cleaner. The new cars will be even better, no badge on the back at all.
  9. If a workshop does adjust something after a wheel alignment check they are supposed to recalibrate any ADAS sensors. i.e. the radar for cruise control and the lane assist camera. The place you went to obviously haven't invested in any ADAS equipment, its quite expensive and every manufacturer has different calibration boards that need to bought. If you imagine a straight line coming out the front of the car that is picking up objects 200 metres down the road, if you turn the car slightly this will affect where that points quite dramatically.
  10. I had a call as well and I’ve booked in for the 1 year service, I’ve done less than 6000 miles. Funnily enough the next day the service warning popped up on the dash. Its 12 months or 10000 miles, whichever comes first I believe.
  11. I made my own with a fork mount on a bit of wood, works perfectly. Today I added a second mount so I can take 2 bikes now. It's the first time I've taken all the back seats out, it's massive inside. You can leave one seat in and 2 bikes still fit.
  12. They’re W16W’s. You can upgrade them to LED easily.

Here's my little beauty. Debadged and a bit darker tint on the back windows.
  14. I put that guide together and have had no problems with my LED lights since fitting them. Not sure about the legality of it though.
  15. Its £40 to have them wrapped so I might as well get the real things for 79 euros. I’ll give TPS a ring in the morning and see how much they sell them for. Next mod sorted!
  16. Does anyone know if the silver Scout wing mirror cases are available separately and how much they are? They look quite smart. Otherwise I’ll get them wrapped in silver.
  17. Be careful which charger you use to charge your battery. Cars with start stop systems have AGM batteries and shouldnt be charged with a normal “flooded” lead acid type charger.
  18. I drove home in fairly heavy snow tonight and my dashboard lit up with yellow lights. It was very pretty. This must be a common occurrence for people in snowy countries.

    1.5 TSI 4X4

Yes, I’m finding that too in the cold damp weather with the 1.5 DSG. I’ve got Bridgestones and they just dont grip in the cold. Trying to play about with the different modes to see if I can improve it. Missing my old Qashqai 4 wheel drive.
  20. There’s an option to tick to turn off navigation during calls. Cant remember which menu its in, maybe in sound.
  21. I suggest everyone replaces their wiper blades with Bosch ones. Our wiper sales are a bit low during the summer
  22. I don't think the Columbus lacks bass. I've had friends comment on how nice the system sounds. As suggested above, go along with some of your favourite music and listen to both if you can.
  23. I’ve only ever owned one diesel and sold it after 18 months. Had problems with the dpf and egr clogging up because I only did short runs. The dpf regeneration only happens when you are travelling at a high-ish speed. The engine puts extra fuel in to heat up the dpf and burn the soot off into ash. Maybe if you are mid regeneration and come to a stop everything is hot and needs time to cool down. I’m no diesel expert though, they’re smoky and smelly, I know that much.
  24. I’ve got a bottle of “sticky stuff remover”. Cant remember where I bought it, might have been from a pound shop. Its great for removing label remains. Otherwise isopropyl alcohol could do it. Dont like the sound of rubbing my windscreen with wire wool!
  25. It was 6.8% when I ordered in January, but with £1500 off a 1.5. Didnt know how long the offer would last, thats why I ordered on the launch weekend.
