  1. Fair point :). I have done that. My gear shift does not have DSG, so I guess answers that question.
  2. Hi all, Can anyone help me with this? I have read a couple of pieces that suggest that if you have a non-DSG box (which I think this is?) then the oil is for life and never needs changing. Is this correct? How can I confirm if I have a DSG gearbox or not? Thanks
  3. Hi all, I would like to change the gearbox oil on my 2007 6 speed 1.6FSI automatic. Its at 70,000 miles so I think it would do it good to refresh the oil. I have changed the gearbox oil a couple of times on manual gearboxes on other cars. There seem to be a few good guides on how to change the gearbox oil on an Octavia MK2 manual, but I cant see any specifically for an auto. Are there any differences? Can anyone confirm the correct oil spec? Thanks!
  4. Would you ever change the oil without changing the filter at the same time?
  5. Hi all, I just found the technical data booklet and can confirm that both variants of the 1.6 have 4.5L listed as the oil capacity.
  6. Yeah, that was the only source I could find but am not sure I can trust it. I would quite like to find a second source!
  7. Hi all, I have been Googling for the past half hour with out a definite answer. Can someone confirm what the oil capacity is on a 2007 1.6 FSI Octavia? Many thanks
  8. Got them from eBay (think it was a main dealer up north selling them). I think you might have to get them from your local main dealer.
  9. Thanks guys, I did not realise the process was detailed in the manual, I will check that out. I bought the car a few months ago (it's a 2007 with the black and white maxidot) and although I do have some service history (it was supposedly serviced in September but the handwriting on the paperwork is so hard to read) the oil looks pretty dirty to me so I am eager to service it myself sooner rather than later and then go with fixed servicing going forward. I was just looking to find out what info I could beforehand.
  10. Hi all, I'm planning on servicing my car over the next couple of months, but is there a way to check whether it has been set as veriable/fixed servicing and when the next service is due. It has the maxidot display if that makes a difference. Thanks!
  11. Ok thanks guys, will check that out when I and the car is back at home. If it does have heated jets, how are they activated?
  12. Hi all, My wife reported this morning that the washer jets were not working. Presumably frozen because of the cold weather we are currently experiencing. I have an Elegance model with a lot of gadgets like heated seats and heated mirrors. I was a bit surprised it doesn't appear to have heated jets. Was this an extra option? How can I tell if I have heated jets or not? Is there a special way to activate them? E.g. does the heated mirrors need to be on? Thanks!
