Hi all, I would like to change the gearbox oil on my 2007 6 speed 1.6FSI automatic. Its at 70,000 miles so I think it would do it good to refresh the oil. I have changed the gearbox oil a couple of times on manual gearboxes on other cars. There seem to be a few good guides on how to change the gearbox oil on an Octavia MK2 manual, but I cant see any specifically for an auto. Are there any differences? Can anyone confirm the correct oil spec? Thanks!

What is the oil capacity of 2007 Octavia 1.6 FSI?

Would you ever change the oil without changing the filter at the same time? -

Hi all, I just found the technical data booklet and can confirm that both variants of the 1.6 have 4.5L listed as the oil capacity. -

Yeah, that was the only source I could find but am not sure I can trust it. I would quite like to find a second source! -
Thanks guys, I did not realise the process was detailed in the manual, I will check that out. I bought the car a few months ago (it's a 2007 with the black and white maxidot) and although I do have some service history (it was supposedly serviced in September but the handwriting on the paperwork is so hard to read) the oil looks pretty dirty to me so I am eager to service it myself sooner rather than later and then go with fixed servicing going forward. I was just looking to find out what info I could beforehand.

Ok thanks guys, will check that out when I and the car is back at home. If it does have heated jets, how are they activated? -
Hi all, My wife reported this morning that the washer jets were not working. Presumably frozen because of the cold weather we are currently experiencing. I have an Elegance model with a lot of gadgets like heated seats and heated mirrors. I was a bit surprised it doesn't appear to have heated jets. Was this an extra option? How can I tell if I have heated jets or not? Is there a special way to activate them? E.g. does the heated mirrors need to be on? Thanks!

Ok,, im starting to understand. So the resistor will 'waste' power, but this will be equivalent amount of power as the existing filament bulb right? And the the fact that the puddle lights are only on for 10-20 seconds max, the chance of them overheating is extremely low right? So going forward, probably best not to use them anywhere where they would be left on for a decent length of time as they might overheat.

Hi all, One of my puddle light bulbs in the wing mirror is out, so I thought I would swap them for LED's (something which I have never done before). From what I understand I do not need CANBUS friendly LED's in the puddle lights. However, as they were pretty much the same price, I just bought a few from ebay which are CANBUS friendly. I then read something saying that you shouldn't use CANBUS friendly LEDs somewhere that doesn't require them to be CANBUS friendly, as it can mess with other stuff. Is this true? Do I need to worry about using CANBUS friendly LED's in the puddle lights? Sorry if this is a stupid question, I just have no knowledge of using LED's in cars so need to start learning!

Successfully managed this today. I still couldn't unclip it easily but I removed the two wire bits and the access box to the bulbs and this allowed me to turn the whole headlight unit 180 degrees and then I could easily see the clip on the connector and this made it much easier.

I have gone ahead any purchased an official Skoda replacement with the puddle light so I will see if this works. I own a multimeter, but I am new to using one. So far I have only used it to measure a battery. Can I just check the process of testing with a multimeter? Is it as simple as touching one of the probes on one of the pins, and the other probe on the other pin and looking for a reading (with the signal on)? (while ensuring that I dont touch them together as this will cause a short).

Thanks, I think it's just stiff. At least I know you have to push it down. Will give it a try next weekend

Did you ever figure this out? Struggling myself to separate the connector

Hi all, I went to replace my passenger side wing mirror indicator today, but the new part didn't work. I have an elegance model which has the puddle light as standard. I am not bothered about the puddle light (in fact the drivers side doesn't work anyway), so I just bought the standard (non-puddle) version here: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Skoda-Octavia-Mk2-Hatchback-7-2004-6-2009-Wing-Mirror-Indicator-Passenger-Side/282385491167?ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT&_trksid=p2057872.m2748.l2649 I checked on the forum here before buying this part and was told that the new part will work on my elegance. The connector fitted fine, but I did notice that the male connector from the car had 3 x wires (black, red and white). However the female connector on the new indicator only had 2 pins (which would connect the black and white wire by the looks of it). Is this significant? Was I given incorrect information that this part should work? I remember when researching which part to get I saw some mentions that some Octavias need an adapter. Any help appreciated!
