  1. good luck with whatever Skoda you get, had company cars for 10 years and now decided to get my own very happy with the Octavia. Hope your wife enjoys the 1000SX which seems a great idea to keep up with the ZZR. Used to have the GTR before going for a K1300GT, now going lighter and on a R1200RS. Yorkshire Dales on your doorstep must make you a happy man.

  2. I have had problem with the dash cam and the rear camera disconnecting, I think it is the lead that is faulty as have a new lead that I tested the cameras with and both then worked. So felt ok then started to worry that the mesh was for some electrical purpose and it was interfering with the dash cam. That is why I asked the question.

Thank you ScoutCJB for replying  still interested to know what the mesh is for if anything.

  3. Thank you all, I used the high beam assist last night and it was brilliant dipped when there were cars coming towards and also when there were cars ahead going the same way then went back on full beam. no idea how it is that clever but it did it, getting too close to driverless cars which I hope will only start to come in commercially after I have gone!!!

I laid off the brakes going down the 30 mph hill today and just taped them when needed and it stayed in D4 which was fine!.

What a great forum where people are so willing to help a dumb old baldy!

  4. Hi Lee again thank you for taking the time

No I was just in normal driving mode and not in cruise control I have not used it yet.

Also not tried eco or sport modes yet want to try the car for about 1500 to 2000 miles in normal first but no clever reason for that!!!

Automate highbeam assist bloody hell thats clever how does it know when to go full beam? I will give it a try thank you and how did you know I cannot read a manual (old man syndrome)

  5. Thanks Lee for your reply and advise

I know I have to use the brakes when going down hill at the 30 mph so that is possible but it sound like the engine is just right in 4th but the bugger just whacks it into 3. when i was doing 60 downhill there was no braking.

I think I need to take it to the dealer and get them to look at it. they can also check why the full beam does not always come on when the stick is moved and why it turned itself off once.

A trp to Workington is coming on

  6. Hi

I wonder if what is happening with my car is normal. When we go downhill the gearing goes down to "3" going down a hill at 30 and the revs going into overdrive and up till about 3,000 rev. When I was going down another hill at 60 it did the same and was over 3000 rev. never had it happen with any of my other automatic cars. if a manual people would think I was raving the nuts off the car, embarrassing!

How long did it take for your covers to arrive from China? Mine's getting on for a month now and still no sign

I will apologise before I write this but ordered yesterday on Amazon and got it today through Amazon Prime. colour is better than the photo a brighter red. bought from Muchkey. I have a cunning plan I will order you one you can then make the short journey up and explain all the gadgets and codes and smart link and connect and tow bars and thingies and I can give you the key cover. The benefit is that your order will most likely turn up on the day.

  8. I am sorry Sasha but you are bad and have made me buy a silicon key cover and what is sadder is that I have bought one in red to match the car, going to have to lie down in a darken room. never had touch screen before and will see how it goes, not able to make judgement on it yet and also want to see how the voice command system work to make it safer.

    He has done mate.

Hes got a 2012 gsa.. the last of the air cooled ones.. twin cam. He bought that new and nearly bought the first of the water cooled but test rode it n didnt like the gearbox.

Now theyve sorted that hes tempted again. Test rode an RS and loved it. Regularly does 1000 mile days on his trips though so likes the tank range of the GSA.

Needs both really cos the RS would make a much better bike for having fun on i bet. :D

I understand why he's staying if he does that sort of mileage i never did more than 500 miles, now fed up after 250 to 300. you are right about the fun of the RS.

    Very nice that mate.

    Loving it then?

the new boxers are nothing like the old ones are they. Much smoother.

Dad keeps threatening to chang his GSA to an RS but it hasnt happened... yet..

So loving it, you are so right about the difference in the boxer engine. get your Dad to give it a go,

It's the Skoda forum. If you can't get the heart racing through driving the car then you need another outlet:biggrin:

honest the heart racing is for bike riding the car is for getting about when necessary

    Welcome (:

yeah we like our own little corner over here. It started off with a single thread but got long that it got turned into a section :D

love the RS’s. Got any pictures?

I will try and post but at my age i have trouble with modern technology. didn't mean to buy the rs but went with a mate for him to test ride a s1000xr for the crack and ended up taking the rs out. my other half cannot ride pillion any more and dodgy hips meant that the K1300GT was getting heavy. I had said after my first BMW that I would never but another one and that I hated boxer engine so now have my third BMW and first boxer and love it, just hope it is reliable. Here vis the bike in the show room.
