My wife has ordered a new Kamiq with the heated screen, due next month. I never thought to ask about which type of heated screen it has. So it will be the filament one Im thinking. Grrr. Oh well, not the end of the world. (I also wear varifocals, but my wife doesn't. She may not notice!)

Im really surprised by this! I had expected the copper conductive element to have superseded the wired screen. I had a windscreen chip about 3 years ago which was successfully repaired, but it did not effect the heated screen. OK if it's not as distracting as the older type. I can't remember which car I had at the time, but my eyes were always trying to focus on the screen not the road ahead... 😳

I have a 22 plate Karoq 1.5tsi DSG SEL. You have picked a good spec already with the SEL IMO, like you said, you have most of what you wanted. I added a heated windscreen which is great - fast screen demist/defrost. And no filament wires on show. Now you have to have the package along with heated rear seats, not quite so good. As you say, spare wheel - any wheel, is a must. If you intend to keep it, the 5 year or 4 year manufacturers warranty?

I did use the varioflex seating in my 2018 Karoq, removing all seats to deliver in Covid times. I have had no need since, never needing to remove a seat in my 2022 Karoq. Even im surprised by this.

Fortunately the 2022 Karoq did not have lane assist 🙏 - the new one will. A very minor niggle in the grand scheme of things!

@lastgasp Thank you! Thats good to hear, thanks. I did same with the Karoq - I had never bought the same model car twice, but I was (and still am) happy with my choice and specification. The Kamiq is for my good lady who seems happy with our choice. Well, my choice tbh 😂 Like you I got a very good deal, it was a no-brainer really. @sussamb Thanks for the post, yes I thought you had both Karoq and Kamiq. We both drove a 1 year old Kamiq 1.5 SE L DSG on the test, all went well we both liked the car but the DSG wasn't as good as im used to - it got into a pickle a few times with changing up and down in 1st and 2nd, seeming unsure of what to do when slowing down approaching junctions. Im expecting that the new car will be ok and as smooth as the Karoq, hopefully using the same engine and gearbox. Reversing camera is superior over the Karoq and although I would not have specified it, the digital dash seems a genuine improvement. Lane assist I would prefer not to have, but no choice there!

Hi all, I have had 2 x Karoqs and Im no stranger to Briskoda Karoq forum, but im new here! We will be passing on our trusty Fabia to my granddaughter in time, and to replace it I have gone for a 1.5l SE L DSG Kamiq in Moon White, picked a mid-spec and added bits and bobs that I want, missing out on some of the stuff I don't want/need. I did this with the 2018 Karoq I had, and the 2022 Karoq I still own. The Kamiq test drove OK, and has some updated stuff on it. We will keep the Karoq for now, but Im trying to give us the option to move to possibly just having one car in the future. I think at least one other forum member has both cars, from memory.

Mine SE L does same, rear wheel brake squeal. Starts when reversing then carries on when driving forwards. Usually in damp/cold conditions. Its been 100% ok in the Summer.

My MY22 Karoq has the copper conductive heated screen as standard on the SE-L. This gives the screen a slight amber tint. A big improvement on the filament wires I think, which I could never un-see.

A great many years ago, I had a similar problem. I wrapped insulation tape round and round the "fixed" part on the bulkhead, to reduce the space so the shelf didn't rattle. A temporary repair perhaps, or just to determine this is the offending source of the problem.

This is an interesting thread! I also was leaning towards my first electric vehicle, but this seating height thing doesn't sound good at all. Also agree with the Karoq, my 2nd one and probably my best car to date. Looks like I may be sticking with it for a while.

Im sorry you have had such a terrible experience with the Karoq. In the 7 years and two that I have had, there is nothing to report - all works perfectly.

I really do sympathise. The very thought of having to "code" a new car to remove things you really don't want or need is shocking. My only way around this is to keep my 3 year old 2022 SEL DSG Karoq which I made sure had no such driver "aids". A brief trip with my daughter in a hire Hybrid Toyota Corolla was enough. She apologised as she had not yet found out how to tame the frequent intrusive and distracting bongs and warning signs..... Obviously we are no longer trusted to drive.
