If it comes in what will we get?
More people killed in speed related accidents, more polution and the revenue will be the only ones to really gain anything as fuel consumption will increase.

I guess this means that someone at Microsoft has discovered that W7 is such a f*** up that the only way to fix it is to come out with a completely new version of Windows.
Windows7 is an extremely reliable and stable OS, I have it on multiple devices and have never once seen a problem of any kind. I would hate to have to use XP again.

I have never found a comparison site that is not way more expensive for an often lesser policy. I have used Lifesure .co.uk for the last 7 years and the premiums are extremely good. My road tax and fully protected comp. insurance are under £350 for the year.
-
I downloaded it but removed it about 30 seconds later as it was messing with the appearance of this site - view new content>my content>no scrolling down :( - anyone else tried it/have issues with it or is it just me...
Yes, it is just you
Perhaps if you learned how to use it first? You cannot possibly have read all the features and instructions or viewed the video "how to's". IE9 works fine with Briskoda and there are compatibility settings on board for sites that don't work so well.
-
I have been running the beta versions and now RC1. Have to say that I have never been a fan of IE but this new version is very good indeed , it will be staying in use alongside Opera, Firepox was consigned to the depths of hell long ago.
-
I use Win7 64bit all day long and have done since its launch. I have 3 different systems here running it and have only ever seen one piece of software that I couldn't get running.
M$ provide a compatability checking tool for both soft and hardware so it is easy enough to check your system is capable of working for you with Win7.
-
Or.. don't use IE
But thanks for the heads up
that will NOT help you, it affects Outlook/Express as well as IE and because IE is part of Windows these flaws usually can be used to access your system whether you use Internet Explorer or not.

Its all about time and place.
If i've got sidelights on, then its more to put my rear lights on, than my fronts. For instance heavy spray on the motorway.
Let's hope you never get involved in a collision in those conditions then as you will be prosecuted. The law specifically states that in restricted visibility, ie. rain and spray you MUST have your headlights on.
Your insurance may well be negated by non/miss use of lights appropriate for the conditions.

I know a guy that owns 3 Octavia TDi 110bhp estates that are taxis, 233000,198000,and 146000 miles without a gearbox problem, these cars are on the road 24/7 with loads of different drivers.
The box is supposed to be the same as the Golf and they do not seem to have a problem unless driven badly.

im sure if this is the case lummox will be on to confirm or dispute it.
I had not realised Lummox is an MEP;)
Open Europe - independent think tank calling for radical reform of the EU
EU ruling will mean higher car repair billsThe Telegraph reports that the EU Commission plans to scrap the so-called “Block Exemption”, which requires car manufacturers to provide parts and computer codes to independent, often smaller garages. It is noted that the changes, to take effect in 2010, could force up the prices for car repairs and services. The hourly charge of an independent garage is £55.63 compared with £94.70 in a dealership workshop.

Another one........ several people I know have had this model die.
I have one and Driver Sitter Pro insists it is about to go to the HD graveyard.
The temperatures in the unvented case are way too high when the disc is powered up for any length of time.
-
The article suggests that all independants will close, the daft thing is the EU passed a ruling a while back, (one that many are unaware of) stating that independant garages can carry out servicing during the warranty period and that providing they use genuine parts and follow the manufacturers manual the work does not affect the warranty.( Non service parts under warranty still have to be replaced by the main dealer.) Now they want to shut everyone down.
Fill the tunnel with cement or water and get rid of the EU would be the best possible plan.
-
Page 14 The Daily Express today , article by David Lancaster .
Basically it says that a new EU regulation just passed means all smaller garages will no longer be able to repair/service any car as they will not be allowed access to the information needed.:confused:
The AA expect garages to close in their 1000's and motoring costs will rise steeply.

Insurance is another £7 a month, tax is the same being pre 2001. (£185/yr) Its official figures show 1mpg more economical too!
Pick it up on Wednesday!
Umm........ it was said yesterday that the govt. had admitted that cars prior to 2001 will after all have to be taxed at the new higher rates.

I think it was Rob Cubley that fitted these and posted some pics here somewhere.

This is the link you need to read ......... VNT15-Turbo
-
The system is sensing overboost and shuts down the turbo causing the power loss, when you turn the ignition back on it is reset.
I get this frequently,Skoda want to replace the Turbo to fix it. There is a write up here somewhere, what is probably happening is the variable vanes in the turbo are stuck at maximum due to being coked up with soot.
Having spoken to a Garret turbo agent it is a known fault on all the VW group cars that use this turbo, the tolerances are incorrect between the vanes and body, the company I spoke to modify the turbo slightly and reckon it cures the fault permanently

Exactly and when the limit becomes 80MPH those people will just raise the bar again ..........
